We'll go ahead and move discussion over here. I don't think we'll get any more players than we already have, and I'm alright with just having 3-4 players. It would be wise for everyone to discuss which stats they're prioritizing, and which starting moves they're taking. :)
Likewise, it would be ideal to know what sort of 'campaign' you're hoping to see here. :)
I plan to start before next weekend, and would like to have everything in order and straightened out before that. :)

Dungeon Crawl with some neat lore was actually what I mostly had planned! I always thought the biggest emphasis in the games was the dungeoncrawling + items, which is what drew me to sticking the two together. :) Good to know I'm on target so far!
Also, because starting off poor is sad: Start with 20 'rupees' to buy things with.

Speaking of(and by speaking of, I mean it just randomly jumped into my mind while looking at a character): Do you guys have any desire to know each other at all, or would you prefer to make your bonds off of first impressions? I think the latter will be significantly easier. :)

Hot DM |

Yeah, were up to our ankles in ice where I am... And it's supposed to continue for another ten hours.
You can feel free to spend your 'coin' by the book if you'd like. I'll get a post describing the basic state of the world, and more info for each individual up a little later. :)

Alrighty! So. First: The world of Hyrule is 'bigger' than it was shown in Ocarina of Time. I'm working off of the idea that the sun rising and setting so fast was simply because it was 'skipping' overland travel, in favor of just keeping you in the action, as such, there -will- be perilous journeys from time to time!
Over the last two years, the world has... slowly fallen apart. It's certainly not apocalyptic, but Hyrule Town has certainly seen better days. The days have grown shorter, too... though not by much. The sky just always seems a little darker, now. People talk of better days, and better times, just as you would suspect. Strangely, the more mundane creatures have begun to take on monstrous features, becoming less and less... the best word for it is... I guess 'normal'. Nothing too terrible, but then, you've also heard about people disappearing. About the other races closing themselves off. It's not as though everything is terrible... but if something doesn't change, it's certainly going to get much worse.
For more information:
If you are Hylian: Are you from Castle Town? Are you from Kakariko? Somewhere more specific or rural? (Kakariko is more poor, and used to belong to the Sheikah. Castle Town is for nobility.)
Mogthrasir: Is your character blending in with the Hylians, or has he taken to a more solitary lifestyle in recent years?
Frogfoot: Does your character hail from Lake Hylia or Zora's Domain? Perhaps somewhere more exotic? (Hylia actually belongs to the Hylians, despite being a high concentration of water. Zora's Domain obviously belongs to the Zora! :p)

You still have those same options. It's up to you whether you opt to take them or not, if presented with other options. And there's always the possibility you get disarmed, in which case, a backup weapon is appropriate. If you don't want the weapon, that's a whole other story. :)

Pox de Chain |

@Torilin, Copied from the recruitment section:
Zora are lithe a swift. They glide through things with practiced ease. From a narrative standpoint, you may breathe water or air, and water doesn't slow you a bit.
Choose One:
Regal: The other races recognize you as the exotic being that you are, as such, your deals seem all then more tempting. You gain +1 ongoing to Parley.
Platinum Scales: Your scales carry an aura of magic that extends to all who touch you, should you will it. You may share your amphibious traits with anyone besides a goron.

Hot DM |

Man. Looking at just that set of lines, I butchered the english language pretty terribly. Well... more likely, my Kindle did. But whatevers. I apologize to humanity.
Also: What he said :) *waves frogfoot over* Those questions still apply to everyone :) I'll get the castle town writeups out to you (with some respective differences) later tonight.

Hot DM |

None of that would be exceptionally unorthodox, if not for the fact that the guard has become more obsessive. Minor rules must be maintained, and nearly everything that comes or goes gets searched, unless you have an alternative way into the city walls... and most don't.
Pox and Anya: What are the most important things to you within your societies? Do either of you have friends within the castle proper?
Pox: Tell us of how you came across your ancient chain, or how did it fall to you? What significance does your signature weapon hold?
Anya: Where did you pick up the art of feinting, who taught it to you, and why did you hold onto it?

Anya Minx |

Why did you post ooc in the ooc room
Would freedom be a viable thing for importance? it'd give her more of a reason to be upset about the new guards and IIRC castle town was pretty open
I'll have to work on the next one family is possible but I have another idea if my backstory is ok

Hot DM |

To draw attention to the specific questions. If I have more, but want to draw attention, I'll use bold or OOC to make the questions more detectable to someone skimming. I've found walls of solid text mostly don't get answered. Making text pretty helps :P
And yeah, that works. :)

Torilin |

First question: I will hail from the Zora's domain, but I will make my original home Lake Hylia. I was planning on my character being a sort of diplomat between the Hylians and the Zoras, an emissary who lives in Lake Hylia to serve as a representative of the Zora King. However, the recent changes in castle policy have left him kicking his heels most days, which has driven him to take up adventuring to find out why.
To reflect this role in Zora society, I'll choose
Regal: The other races recognize you as the exotic being that you are, as such, your deals seem all then more tempting. You gain +1 ongoing to Parley.
as my racial move.
I would have reason to know Anya Minx, and perhaps I would have sought out the new goron in town out of curiosity, but I would have no cause to know the thief that I'm aware of. Working on my character sheet now!

Shyrin |

Alright, filling in the profile as well. This is Mog.
Shyrin will be from Kakariko then, and she's trying really hard to blend in. So she keeps to herself a lot, wears clothing that covers and conceals, and interacts minimally. Or at least that's how she's continued up to this point.
I realize the avatar I selected looks pretty distinctly "not-hyrulian", but I imagine a shiekah isn't that overtly different. I just really liked the tattoos on the avatar. They seemed fitting!

Hot DM |

Mmhmm. Avatars are just for show and to give a general idea. I've killed myself way too many times trying to find a perfect avatar. Eventually you just settle for the best you can get, in my experience. :P Personally, I really like that avatar :)
Which human move are you leaning towards? If Eclectic, how did you get the move you are trading for, or what sort of training is your character undergoing that is unusual?

Shyrin |

Shyrin should be discerning realities quite a bit. Wisdom isn't her highest bonus, but it's the stable attribute of the class. So I'll go with the Reputation move. Now for a decision on what she should always be aware of...
The thought of precognition from always getting a free "What is about to happen" looks appealing. The "What here is valuable" is always a tempting option, which would probably be the best choice mechanically because it seems like it would always be helpful. But true to the character concept, "What here is not what it appears to be?" is the best fit. She doesn't get fooled often, and sees past the surface.
Final answer, Terry.

Hot DM |

To those I haven't yet asked: What are those things that your characters hold most dear?

Shyrin |

The Past and its preservation, or her Ancestors the Spirits to be more precise. She doesn't always know what their plan is, but they have a perspective beyond hers and she has agency to act on their behalf.

Hot DM |

Also, to clarify for the caravan, there are four others, but they definitely don't seem of adventure-quality. The guard stands out, because they -are- adventure-ready, and Talon stands out because he definitely is -not- and seems to have very little in the way of possessions. They do have wares, though, if you wish to enquire about buying more mundane things.
Pallo, notably, has 'eyes like a hawk'.

Hot DM |

If you guys ever feel like you're expressly waiting on me, just say something. I tend to respond as soon as I feel I have something to respond to... this means that if you go more than 1-1.5 days without me responding, I'm either dead, wish I were, or didn't see something you thought was important. :)
