Advertise on Reddit, maybe? I made a post about one of my PBP campaigns on there a few days ago, and I got a lot of response. It was on the rpg specific subreddit, here. A few people even wanted to join in, though I didn't have the room for them at the time.
Another big thing that might help is to solidify where you want to go with the story of the campaign. People may say they want a simple dungeon crawl, but it's the story that hooks them in to THAT specific dungeon crawl. Create some threat, some buzz about what's going on and how it would affect the canon world of Hyrule, and how it would tie in the player characters specifically.
Maybe something you could highlight is that each person who joins the campaign has a specific encounter with a mysterious Sheikah, and allow them to detail how that encounter went down in their application post. That ought to get people's creative juices flowing!

For example, last year when I was recruiting for a homebrew campaign I was wanting to run, I added little biographies for each of the different tribes of people that PCs could come from, so that the players considering joining could align themselves with one of the tribes, give them something that already exists in the world as something to pin their backstory to. That sort of thing can make the character creation process sound more appealing too.
The advantage we have is that Hyrule is a pretty well-known and popular setting, but that also comes with a drawback. People know how the story "ends" in Ocarina of Time. There needs to have some conflict created in the world you're putting your characters in, some real risk of catastrophe, to draw and hold the interest of some players.

Well, I will say, that this is an alternate universe, and as a direct result, the Hero of Time may never quite come back! Even still, the players here will play a major role in preparing things if he does return, or themselves play the heroes! We know how -a- story ends, not how -the- story ends. :)
But I'll definitely keep that in mind. For me the 'here are 8 billion things to read' is kind of a turnoff. I love learning about someone's world, but I'm really, really bad at collecting huge amounts of information. I still have probably 90% of an eight-month long campaign in my head (and what my character does and does not know) there, but ask me to memorize something indepth and it's going to be a problem!
I'll definitely work on advertising the story a bit more!

I'm fine with pulling in more if you'd like. I tend to enjoy the smaller groups more than the larger ones, but I'm also slower sometimes at getting in. And with large groups, that means a lot has passed ;) But as early as it is in this game, it's a pretty easy place to bring more on!

I can work with a group of any size, save... possibly 1-on-1. Having more people tends to make it a more believable world. DMing 1-on-1 leaves it being mostly a puppet show, in my opinion. :)
I tend to be quick to respond to things. It will be easy enough to have someone come into the campaign down the line if we need to refill. Simple enough!
I'll hold off for now!

Posting in all my campaigns...I'm sick as a dog with the flu today and yesterday, which is why I didn't post anything. It's a really bad flu so I'm trying to rest and recuperate as much as I can but I will try to get everything up to speed this afternoon if possible. Thanks for being patient with me :(

While Shyrin is always welcome back and may well be back very shortly!, I think it may be time to look for more folks. :) Or we can move forward with the two of you... as you said, having fewer people hurts nothing, as Link was able to solo these places... :)

A post to the games I'm involved in or running:
I'm afraid I no longer have time for play by post games, and won't be able to continue. This is a crappy thing to do, and I apologize for where it leaves people, but you still should be informed even if the information isn't fun. The short of it is that I've recently gotten a new job, which is fantastic for me, but not for my game time. I'm involved currently in training for my new job, while also training my replacement for the previous position, and looking forward to a position that much more hands on than administrative (unfortunately leaving much less time behind a computer).
May these characters I've abandoned in your worlds be used to whatever means you see fit, whether prosperous or disastrous. I greatly appreciate the opportunity you all gave me to play/run some games, and apologize for strings left unfinished.
I bequeath all of my possessions to whoever avenges my death, or calls dibs first...
And to the game I was running, it's like when a TV series gets cancelled mid season. It sucks. A lot. Assume wonderful, but dangerous things happen in your characters' futures.

Quick update - while I was away from work on paternity leave, a big project started up finally and dumped a lot of work on all of us. Now, this week, I'm having to do the work I ordinarily would have had, plus the work my sick teammate can't do...
That's why I'm not posting, I really want to but I haven't had a spare moment except to wolf down some lunch today. Promise I'll be back tonight or tomorrow.

No worries. :) It's my job to see how you fit into things when you aren't 'moving'. If you're busy, you're busy. :)
Like I said in recruitment, it's very much player-centric. I place obstacles, you act, I react. :) Repeat as needed. So whenever you guys can move... it'll be here. Just bear in mind, while I'll wait, the world might not ;).
Hycorerox
Hycorerox is an older Goron and a bit of a hermit but, like all Goron's respects the brotherhood and family of the tribe. He uses his hermit like qualities to benefit the tribe. He moves around the mountain observing it and talking with the creatures that live on it reporting back to the council. Not the strongest Goron but one of the heartiest and the wisest of them he is respected for the information he brings.
He respects all three Goddesses and maintains that they work towards a natural harmony of nature and while he favors earth and fire, he must not forget the others for all are important.
He often drums on rocks or stomps his feet when in communion with the Goddesses "Earthly" elements.

Tis the season to be busy.
My job picks up when school is out. I'm going to be a bit more busy for a while. This won't really affect whether or not I -do- post in threads, just the speed at which I do. Some days, I won't be able to really get posts in at work, other days it won't be very bad. Today is likely to be one of those days where I'll either post around noon, or not at all until I'm home.
I should still be highly responsive, just not nearly as responsive as you may be used to. :)
Torilin
I'm here, I'm sorry, I'm really overwhelmed at work (still behind at this very moment,) and when I get home I have a newborn to look after plus I'm still exhausted from my work day. Generally when I get home I've been napping/trying to sleep in between feedings and changings of my baby boy. Posting in all my campaigns - I want to get on top of things again, hopefully this Memorial Day weekend will let me do that.

I feel that bonds are an immensely important part of the game, and interacting with your fellow players should be probably more important than anything I can hand to you as the DM. :)
Are you just wanting to skip bonds and relationships between characters for now, and just do dungeons?
Riza of the Gerudo
I've got these bonds, potentials in parenthesis:
_______________ owes me their life, whether they admit it or not.
I have sworn to protect _______________.
I worry about the ability of _______(Remia)________ to survive in the dungeon.
_______(Anya)________ is soft, but I will make them hard like me.
That's based on basically nothing, just trying to put something down to get discussion flowing.
Hot DM
You're good. Remember, you don't have to use starter bonds. :) You can make up your own. The basic formula should be 'X makes me feel Y, I will do Z.'
'Torilin makes me uncomfortable with his Fishy Smell. I will distance myself.'
'Anya complains far too much about that little fairy. I'll show her the error of her ways.'

I'll go ahead and push through the night on monday. I'm ridiculously tired from walking ~800 pets this week, scrubbing ~100k square feet of floor, being on my feet for 32 hours (of the 40 I've worked this week), on concrete floors. I'm just intent on laying here today and not doing anything stressful. Tomorrow, I'll try to get a summary up for everyone to be on the same page.
If you would like for me to try to find a replacement for bonds, I guess I'll need to.
On that note, though, are you guys comfortable with me 'pushing along'? I know at the onset I said that it'd move at your own pace, after all.

The story so far has been pretty straightforward and simple.
Each individual met with a Sheikah Female who stated that the world was shifting slowly towards a dark place from which there was no return and that heroes would be necessary. Each individual also had their own reasons for signing on (I'll leave that to the players to explain if their character would share.)
The situation has deteriorated over time in several locations: The Zora are battling against a ruby crystal corruption that seeps down from the mountains above.
The Goron are being driven deep into the mountain by a beast that bellows from their past, awakened by dark magic.
Castle Town has seen the guards becoming more like Zealots than typical guards, becoming steadily more corrupt as days pass, moving in groups rather than alone, and doing things that guards simply shouldn't do. Meanwhile, other Hylian towns are having their guards pulled into a more central position, leaving the outer territories less and less defended.
The Gerudo have been cut off from the outside world, not only by their king, but by the sands themselves in many cases. What's more, their female leader was sequestered by the king of thieves into an ancient temple.
As for the Kokiri, significantly less is known. While it has happened less for Remia's village... Kokiri have been disappearing into the forest more frequently, to never return.
When the initial group met up outside of Kakariko Village, they were given a map and a compass. The map will show areas of interest, large and small. The large-marked areas have the keys to your victory, while the small-marked areas have the keys to your success. The compass, on the other hand, points towards magical objects to which it has not been attuned. Simply holding the compass over such an object will attune it, and it will cease to search for that specific magic. As a direct result, the magic-seeking compass will help to lead you to those things that you've missed. However, while near one of the more significant objects of importance, the compass will fail to work at all until attuned. In addition, extremely powerful magic confuses the compass as well.
Curiously, the shadow temple where the Sheikah are at unrest is not marked upon the map, meaning that Sheik did not believe it was important for you to investigate... but surely something lies within its depths that will aid you in your quest.
