Thanks for the invite DM Vayelan looking forward to cleaning up both the corruption and the sawdust :-)
Edit: Hey folks, just a quick intro, I'm RH, an old guy that played D&D in college back in the 80's and found the boards here about four years ago.
I'm in EST (-5 GMT) I post mostly in the middle of the night due to work.
As for my character, Naomi; her personality is loosly based on my youngest daughter. Who is very ... um free-spirited :-)

Helgrim Ironstar |

Hi gang, I am also an old 1980s player whose characters always seem pretty boring compared to all the cat folk half dragon half troll space shuttle door gunner variants the young’ns roll up these days ;). You guys really know the rules sets like I used to, but I have a lot of systems in my head now.
I’m on the west coast of the us and I am looking forward to a good long ride with this adventure and crew.
Can’t wait!

Thank you DM for the invite, can't wait to see what's in store!
As for me, I'm actually a young guy that picked it up from friends just a couple of months ago. That being said, we loves it, the precious, and look forward to many adventures!
I'm EST, but I also usually do my posting either late at night or early in the morning, between work and classes.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I started playing RPGs when I was in middle school in the late '90s, when Wizards of the Coast revamped AD&D.
However, I really got into it when they launched 3rd edition. That's why I took such a shine to Pathfinder.
I started playing on the forums last fall when my in-person gaming groups were struggling to meet due to schedule conflicts.
I live on the east coast of the U.S., also EST.
In real life, I'm a university writing teacher, so hopefully you all won't think my storytelling skills are too bad.

Boggel Samm |

glad to be here and nice to meet y'all. I've wanted to play a grippli since I heard about them but it just hasn't worked out until now!
I've been on the forums for a close to a year, having lost several members of my gaming group. I've been playing RPGs since 1982. I'm in central time, and when I'm not gaming, I teach anthropology courses. And thanks for opening up a second table!

Liam the Wanderer |

[Liam wanders out of the woods, and into the town full of sawdust and corruption]
"Fancy big city y'all got here."
As for me, I've been around various RPGs, both fantasy and sci-fi, since I was a kid, but have spent most of that time just reading the lore of Star Wars or D&D or BattleTech etc, and, while I have some more experience tabletop wargaming (mostly BattleTech), I've only picked up actually playing RPGs through Pathfinder PBP on this site in the last couple of years. I live in the central US, work about three part-time jobs in education(substitute teaching, bus driving, and high school soccer refereeing), and am looking to get into teaching full-time soon (hopefully). And I used to be in the Army National Guard. Depending on the day and what I'm doing, my posting could be all over the place.

Sir Wulf the Wise |

Hello All. It is great to get to stretch more of my character ideas. Thanks for the invite and I hope to make Wulf an interesting character.
AS for RP history. I delved into the depths of RP when I was 12 play 2ed DnD (First character was a Half-Ogre Fighter who hated halflings and collected their skulls). I got my first real chance at DMing in 3ed . Now I have come to love playing the game again when my friends and I switched to Pathfinder and really haven't looked back (except for the deviant fun of Hackmaster 4e.
I live in in the CST and post at least once a day sometime during the day or night as I work weird hours.
I hope we have a fun and interesting campaign!

DM Vayelan |

I'm working on drafting an initial gameplay post, including individualized entries for each of you to establish your place or arrival in town, as well to introduce a little of the knowledge your characters already have about the town.
As we get started, if you have any questions about what your character knows or their connections with the town, please feel free to ask.

Helgrim Ironstar |

I am really looking forward to seeing how this group of characters interacts. we are an eclectic group. The role-play opportunities abound.

Helgrim Ironstar |

DM Vayelan |

In addition to Laurel, there are a couple other residents you have likely met: Tabrik Splint, the only other dwarf in town and who is very outspoken in his criticism of Gavel Kreed; Jak Crimmy, a retired troubadour who owns the local inn; and Jalene Artem, the pretty barmaid who works at the Sitting Duck.

Helgrim Ironstar |

Oh my gosh, Helgrim wants to axe him a question right now, but I don't want to derail this game and cause a TPK first scene.
My character is in a bind because, he doesn't want to back down. He feels like he is fighting for sick kids and he feels like his best self defense is to strike first.
Having said that all his player knows about this town really is what was given to us from recruitment, and the little bits we have been given.
I don't want to be first level Jedi takes on Darth Vader the Sith lord, because he doesn't recognize who just cut him off in the lunch line.
Does Helgrim get the idea that the fight would be useless?
If he gets away with the cure will the kids die?
Could we get more ingredients to make more if we just let them take it? As in we are working at 7/11 and we are fighting the guy with a gun over a 12 pack of Coors Light? Or is it like we are letting the Nazis take the Arc of the Covenant in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc.

DM Vayelan |

Andoran coinage names are cp = cap, sp = wolf, gp = sail, pp = falcon.
It is possible to gather more ingredients, but it could take a couple days.
Pay Day is demoralized by seeing the crowd stand up with the party, hence why he's willing to negotiate rather than simply resort to fists. You can either use Intimidate to break his resolve and send him back to the Perch with his tail between his legs, or use Diplomacy to haggle down his requested bribe or send him away without one (depending on how good your result is).

If Naomi had noticed him, she would have introduced herself, since he's now in the building the moment has passed.
Don't worry, Naomi- I'm certain Timothy and Naomi will meet soon enough!

Yeah, I was just disappointed in wasting the 19 in perception, especially with those awful diplomacies rolls!

![]() |

Honestly, Naomi, if you had shown up, there's absolutely no way Timothy would have climbed in the window- and I'm kinda enjoying playing him acting the rogue, even if I haven't rolled above a 10 yet (got to happen sometime, right? Probably when I least need it. Always happens that way haha). Probably would have just chatted with you a while before leaving for home, and where's the fun in that? This gets me a little adventure.
Next time you roll a 19, it will be WAY more important. The universe always corrects itself.

Naomi Chadwick |
My apologies DM Vayelan, I did not have Naomi's spells prepped, I'm working on that now.
favored class bonus: Human: Add one spell known from the inquisitor spell list. This spell must be at least one level below the highest spell level the inquisitor can cast.
May I assume this 'favored class bonus' may be applied to orisons at first, second and third level?

Naomi Chadwick |
We need a Power-word Whoopass! spell if it is on your list.
I googled 'Power-word whoopass' and all I could find was: Stun, kill and blind. Unfortunately none are on my first level spells, how about Command :-)
The only problem is if we start casting spells were in combat, and 'payday' may wander off but what about the rest of them???

Helgrim Ironstar |

Right now if we hit the leader hard when he is not ready it could be good, you know like jailhouse rules, but it may severely change the course of what the DM is wanting to do with the story arc.

Naomi Chadwick |
It sounds like a really good way to turn from 'rebels' to 'outlaws' really fast. I was hoping the diplomacy rolls would be higher...
What if we let him take the stuff and we vow to get more?
Unfortunately, 'PayDay' does represent 'the company' and it would be illegal to appose him. Unless we get the sheriff to side with us.
Maybe, we are using diplomacy with the wrong person, I'm going to go back and read the interaction again, see what I missed...

![]() |

I'm just pondering, but what are the odds Pay Day knows the difference between one plant and another?
Either way, I agree with Naomi- using force here is a bad plan. Whatever force we use, the Consortium can do about 100x worse- and that's really bad for the guys we're trying to help.

Naomi Chadwick |
In Game
Pay Day leers at Naomi as she approaches, appraising the unfamiliar woman.
"I'm hearin' a lot of blather, but I'm not hearin' the clink of any gold. I'll give you one last chance. Make me an offer, or me an' the boys are gonna push past that uppity sheriff and do what we came to do."
Ok guys, what do we want to do?
I'm willing to have Naomi cast 'Command' with something like 'flee' which I would reskin as 'go home' but it's only good for one round...
Success or failure, it would certainly get a fight started either way. So now what?

![]() |

I don't think we really want to start a fight here- even if we win, the Consortium's too powerful and we run the risk of making things much worse for the people here. I say we go home, regroup, and see what else pops up- but, admittedly, that seems much less fun than a fight. Just saying that it will come with consequences.

Boggel Samm |

if it's a fight, so be it, but DON'T start it. We can finish it, but don't start it. That'll just give them an excuse. Plus, if we win, perhaps we can shame Payday. Also, try for nonlethal. If we lose (or Laurel intervenes), I like the idea of giving them the wrong 'cure.' Perhaps Laurel can give them a dose of laxatives :)

I have intimidate, but I didn't have a point to spend on it yet. So I gave it a shot. Lets see what happens. On a side note, a 16 base would have been an epic first hit, dang first level character. :) this is a talented writing group, I'll try to keep up.

Helgrim Ironstar |

Wulf we posted at about the same time, did you miss the dwarf talking to you?

Question, DM- where does Timothy live? He's a Constortium employee, so I assume he has somewhere to stay Our characters are homeless, oh no!, but I definetly didn't spend the 1,290gp needed to buy a house with my Lvl 1 starting GP, so I leave the decision to you.

DM Vayelan |

As befitting a "Company Town," residents who work for the Consortium (which is almost everyone) do not have to pay for housing. They are provided homes or boarding rooms in company-owned buildings, and a "reasonable" rent is deducted from their wages.
Having been in Kreed's favor, Timothy probably has a decent-sized house located at the foot of the Perch, the walled-off hill housing the High Market.

Naomi Chadwick |
Some how I don't think this is what you are talking about.
So much for 'google' being helpful...

Helgrim Ironstar |

ra·di·o si·lence
noun
an absence of or abstention from radio transmission.
"at midnight, the enemy went on total radio silence"
a period during which one hears nothing from a normally communicative person or group.
"the long radio silence has been due to the intensity of parenting an infant"
More like this above ;) ^

Just checking in so ya'll know I'm still here, and checking each post religiously, even if my character's a bit out of it right now- approximately what time is it when Ergin enters, DM?
