GM Niles |

Jaxom knows that it was not a spell but some sort of spell like ability. (Variant Summon Monster spell)

Silas Hawkwinter |

When Jaxom is puzzled by the magical dagger and ring, Silas has a look to provide a second opinion.
Spellcraft: Dagger: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Spellcraft: Ring: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
He then has a closer look at the inscriptions but they are a puzzle, he mutters, "I'm afraid I was asleep in Mistress De Veer's class. She'd have known what these inscriptions said, on account of her being a fossil from another age."
Linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
He waits to see if anyone else can read them, and later suggests, "Since we're here in creepy ville, perhaps we should explore? There was a door to the west we past."

Silas Hawkwinter |

Silas nods, "That's a good thought Luc."
Maybe the wand, or possibly both?

GM Niles |

The dagger is a +1 Dagger that grants its wielder the usage of the Witch Knife feat.
The Ring is a ring of chameleon power
As the party comes to the door, Jaxom casts Detect Magic (because I figured you would). He senses two magical auras both from inside the room. Moderate Abjuration and Moderate Necromancy.
Lucanor detects a moderately evil aura behind the door.

Silas Hawkwinter |

That's actually a really sweet ring, still we can go with Luc's plan.
Upon hearing there is both magic and evil inside, Silas asks "Do you want me to open it?"
He studies the door while he waits for a response and the creepy sealstone whispers things into his mind...
Kn:Arcarna abjuration: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 4 = 20
Kn:Arcarna necromancy: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 4 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Lucanor |

Or we can offer to buy it off the lad for a reasonable price if he's willing to sell. Provide for his education etc ;)
"Hold up a second, let me see if there's just a plain ole fashioned trap..."
Perception:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28

Silas Hawkwinter |

Going to wait until the results of the various checks are reveled before opening the door. But that's probably what Silas will do next unless there's a problem.

GM Niles |

Both Auras are from items....so Silas cannot identify them.
Lucanor doesn't find a trap on the door.
Silas opens the door to show.
Within this room stands the disfigured corpse of a cleric of Nethys,
its eyes and mouth stitched shut with coarse cord. In one of its
desiccated hands, it clutches a weird metal cage with a rotting
dwarf’s head bolted within. The room is otherwise empty, as if the
creature were imprisoned here or locked up for safekeeping.
The desiccated creature turns its sightless eyes to you but doesn't move....and the head in the cage mouths words that come out as hideous croaks.
Everyone make a DC21 Will save or be paralyzed with FEAR for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds

Silas Hawkwinter |

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Silas looks back at the others with one hand on the door, "I'll just go ahead and open this door. I'm sure nothing wi AIIEEEEEEE!"

GM Niles |

The creature reaches for you with rotting claws.
Jaxom: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Silas: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Silas tries to act but his mind is locked with the horror of the mummified thing in front. 'Why did it have to be undead? Why?!'

Hecktor |

Hecktor moves slightly closer, to the square west of Jaxom and braces a swing.
Scythe, PA: 1d20 + 16 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 16 - 3 = 23Slash!: 2d4 + 11 + 9 ⇒ (2, 1) + 11 + 9 = 23

Lucanor moves forward to arrange a flank with Hecktor, "Iomedae grace me with your virtue..."and when the creature closes readies his own attack...
Activiating Judgement of Sacred Purity (So +2 to all Saves), then Same as Hecktor in letting it close in. Trying to position so that when it does close either Hecktor or luc will get a flanking bonus.
To hit when it does: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Dmg if that hits: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Plus Bane 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Had to edit for format correction.

GM Niles |

Round 1
Silas is paralyzed with fear.
Jaxom is paralyzed with fear.
Hecktor moves and readies an attack.
Lucanor moves up and readies an action, there really isn't anywhere Luc can stand where he would flank

Silas Hawkwinter |

Is this round 2 now?

Hecktor |

"Hey now, dead man, that's our comrade you're hitting.
I don't approve."
Hecktor 5ft steps forward and swings at the mummy.

Silas Hawkwinter |

Mind still reeling, Silas screams, "Burn it! Stab it! Smash it to pieces! Whatever works, we must destroy it!" His voice might be cracking under the strain, but it was that simple and his words spurred you on.
With a grim face like he was walking to his execution Silas lurched forwards, swords in hand.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Move action: Silas uses inspire 8/22
Standard action: Silas surges forwards trying to get round to flank, but not quite reaching.

Jaxom causes a small quake beneath the mummy to knock it from its feet.
Tremor: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 15 + 2 = 31
If that beats its CMD then, it basically a +4 to all your attacks. And it would also happen before Hecktor and Luc attacked.

Gilmork fires his arrows again, this time boosted by Silas and Jaxom's blessings.

Cresset of Grisly Interrogation
Aura moderate necromancy; CL 5th
Slot none; Price 10,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.
DESCRIPTION
This small iron cage is engraved with dozens of ancient
funerary runes. On opposing sides of the cage frame, two
large bolts can be adjusted to hold a humanoid head in a
stationary position within. When a head is placed inside and
the command word is spoken, you can sequester information
from it as if it were under the effect of a speak with dead
spell. The cage can coerce three answers per day, which do
not need to be from the same head or asked in a limited
period of time (for example, you could ask a kobold’s head
a question in the morning, an orc’s head a question in the
afternoon, and an ogre’s head a question in the evening).
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, speak with dead;
Cost 5,000 gp, 400 XP

Kn:Arcarna: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 4 = 31
Silas shivers, his eyes fixated on the strange device with the rotted head inside, "Ugh, that is so gross. A Cresset Interrogation, if I'm not mistaken. Put a head in, speak the command word and ask it questions... I suppose it would be advantages to do that with Vade's head or maybe his wife, but I don't think I can bring myself to do that."
He turns away from the thing in disgust and starts healing the wounded.
CLW: Lucanor * 4: 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6, 7, 7) + 4 = 27
CLW: Silas * 4: 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (7, 8, 8, 1) + 4 = 28

Lucanor |

"I'm better thanks to Silas' wand, thank ye Silas."
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
"Is that what it is? I would have had no idea." He shrugs, "As for speaking with the dead, I can already do that. Helps in Inquisiting."
Another thought, "Maybe we should burn the mummy?"
