Lol...that's not a mistake. That sounds great.

Tristain will take 2 pots of CLW and give one to Tarvi (in hopes that she never needs to use it on Tristain).

I'll leave the CMW and Shielf of Faith for those who will be dealing with the frontline.

Tavari will tell you she's all about a diversion and stopping anyone who runs, but is too scared to enter the temple. You can force her to go with you, but she'll stay well behind.

I think when they reach "trained" status, they'll feel a bit more comfortable accompanying you.

Jimmy will take the Potion of CMW, and Amaya will take a Potion of CLW just in case.

Gorvio and I might need a potion of CLW but we will stay way back if possible, so it would only for emergency's. If the frontline needs it more then that would be better.

I need to be absolutely clear on a few things:

First, companions:
They will come with you for distraction, guarding an entrance/exit, but none of them are too keen on going "inside" with you. If you force them to go inside, they will stay 1 to 2 rooms behind the main group. As such, they will never be in the fight, if they can help it. Should something go wrong, they could die as none of them are "trained" in fighting yet. What could go wrong? Oh, let's say for example some bad guys come from behind and run into your b-team. Dead B-team.

Second, scouting:
You may scout, but you must use Gorvio as a guide to avoid being seen by the guard in the bell tower. As such, his route around Rego Cader is slower than normal. That will add an extra hour to your mission, should nothing else slow you down. Thus, you will be permitted one additional "break" in the action before you risk not being able to return in time for sundown. Because, getting there and back is nearly 5 hours in the day. Throw in an extra hour for scouting and that's 6 hours.

If you choose not to scout, you will be permitted two "breaks" in the action. Janiven told you about the buildings: they are boarded up and the windows have so much grime she couldn't see into them. There are a few other buildings in the area, but they are all ruins and not worth mentioning.

I'm going to say "taking 20" 3 times equals 1 break.

Since Moshley posted and didn't have questions or whatever, I'd like a decision to be made sometime today so we get the ball rolling.

Third, one last thing:
Generally I will run the NPCs based upon their locations/strategies, simply because that's the easiest thing for me to do. If you guys take too much time, or NPCs are alerted to your presence because things like sound travel, they will move. This isn't to make it hard on you (well, to a certain extent it is), but it mainly is to make this a bit more realistic and thus your accomplishment more exciting. It's not Diablo. I had a table-top game on Sunday's that was run like Diablo. Most Boring Pathfinder Game Evah.

@ Moshley -- hope all is okay with your family.

If you wish to shop, you can stop by Rego Pena and buy something quick (practically anything, really, but no time to stop and sell your stuff). It's on the way anyway.

Okay, I'm updating the loot spreadsheet for the potions. There are 3 CLW potions unclaimed at this point, so since Ezren didn't specify and since Scalvo isn't going (he can chose another NPC soon, or I'm going to move on and assume no NPC goes with him), I'm giving Ezren the remaining potions to carry. I will have all the remaining potions carried by Ezren.

At the end of this mission, you all should check the Loot Calculation page, and let me know if you want to claim something specifically, or have the party claim something. Anything not claimed by either a player or the party will assume to be sold. For right now, I'm going to assume (yikes!) that all potions are "party" potions for now. However, you may claim a potion for your use only, and thus it will go against your loot calculation.

Remember: you are never worse off by claiming something, as you can always sell it later and get the coin you would have gotten anyway.

Current Market Value of Loot: 3,262gp. Value of loot less claimed by party: 2,512gp. Value after sale: 1,256gp. Coin to each person since nobody has claimed anything: 314gp.

Now, if you give some of the loot to the NPCs, you can do that. If you give it to an NPC not on the B-team, I will charge that to the party. If you give loot to a member of the B-team, I will charge that to the PC in charge of the NPC. That seems fair to me.

M Human - Loon 16 AC: 16 (12 FF) CMD (22/18) CMB +6 Fort +12; Ref +14; Will +16

Tristain had a good gander at the loot sheet. It's pretty sweet. Well done, CC.

Looks like Tristain will be able to buy the MW lockpicks on his own (assuming he can find them...for private use, of course). The crowbar, spikes, and silk rope are pretty cheap as well. Is there anything else we need?

We have the wand of CLW, and, in addition, to our pots of CLW, should be covered for healing.

2gp Crowbar
1gp 5 pitons + hammer
10gp silk rope
1gp 40 extra arrows
100gp MW Thieves Tools
-----------
114 gp spent

Jimmy will buy a crowbar too, meaning 312gp of his share of the loot is left. I'll add that to his current wealth.

The Potion of CMW and CLW will both go to Jimmy, because if she's attacked Amaya'll die before she can use it.

Jimmy's saving up for something so he's not going to spend much. Also, the Chairman said we won't really need the Wand of CLW till we're level 3. So I'd like to wait before we purchase it.

A) What 312gp share of loot? (Are you referring to the loot sheet showing 314gp due to you guys?) You guys have the coin you have from the last time you sold. You haven't sold anything else, so that 312gp isn't available yet. You can't borrow against it either. If you have extra coin left over from last sale, then you have that much coin left in your pockets to spend. I will try to add something to the loot sheet to make it clearer.

If you wish to sell stuff, it will take a good chunk of the day. So, I was under the impression you were going to the temple as soon as possible, and thus not taking stuff with you other than the potions.

B) Fixed it in the loot sheet. Thanks.

C) That is correct, as you guys got plenty of potions for this mission. Divine knowledge ahead of time.

Still, you guys are currently sitting in the Shrine. Let me know when you leave via gameplay post, you can then assume you sell stuff.

Please let me know if you decide to go around the city, or through the city, after selling the items. Going around takes longer.

I had assumed we could sell things quicker, and we'd be able to collect our loot money while buying items.

Can we let one of the NPCs sell our stuff while we go scouting, or will there be the risk something/all is lost?

M Human - Loon 16 AC: 16 (12 FF) CMD (22/18) CMB +6 Fort +12; Ref +14; Will +16

Wow. I get the feeling that my time and GM time are moving at different paces. I understand that we want to keep pushing (and I'm all for that, believe me), but I also want to have the chance to adequately do things my character would do.

I have misunderstood the loot sheet AND let time get away from Tristain.

GM CC, if it's not trouble, could you time and datestamp what time/day it is in the game once in a while? Not every CC post, but when we are not on mission would be helpful.

Now, given that Tristain doesn't have the needed monies for his purchases (and no one has a spare lockpick set), it would make sense to Tristain to wait a day, get the gear we need rather than go in unprepared.

While Tristain is somewhat sympathetic to the plight of the tieflings, he doesn't necessarily feel he should rush in without proper equipment.

If Jimmy is buying a crowbar, Tristain will not...but he's happy to chip in 1 gp.

And I did totally forget about what we discussed about when to buy the Wand of CLW. As long as Jimmy & Ezren are happy using their slots for healing rather than combat/offensive spells, then the decision shouldn't be revisited.

Without the wand, Tristain will take both the pots of CLW, not giving any to Tarvi.

Okay, deleted a super long response to everything, and I'll just post this:

Please post in gameplay what you are doing. If you want to do multiple things, and you make a multiple action post, then I reserve the right to interrupt your timeflow should something happen in between.

So, if you want to go buy and sell stuff, you need to leave the shrine to go do it. If you want an NPC to do it, which NPC are you going to send? When do you want them to go?

Until you post in gameplay, I can't really respond to anything else you guys are asking, sorry. I'd like to reply, but doing a reply requires an extremely long post.

Since I've also noticed that Ezren and Jimmy are not posting in their other games, I'm going to just pause. It's not that they aren't posting here, they aren't posting anywhere. I'll give it a break while they get whatever they need to deal with done.

I would however, recommend you guys take the loot you want to sell back to the shrine of Aroden after you buy what you need.

Also, make sure you read what the guard said and which stores were robbed and what happened.

Whoever the Bastards of Erebus are, they are absolutely terrorizing the city's wealthy, and freaking out the non-wealthy since the crimes are done at night. This has pushed the mayor (er, excuse me, Lord Mayor) to call for the killing of all tieflings, just outright genocide, as a way of combatting the issue.

Lastly, I went back and looked at what I wrote. I said "everyone" left with you. I should have said the 3 other PCs. However, since that was my mistake and not being clear, I will allow you guys to assume the NPCs are with you as well. Shame on me for not being clearer.

I don't believe it either. You did say "He lugs what he thinks he can sell" and the group decided that loot should be weightless. As such, I'm playing what the group wished to have: weightless loot. I've never played weightless loot and I've always had to have containers, but whatever.

I missed where we decided loot should be weightless. If so, I never agreed to it.

I think it's reasonable that we could have packed it on the horses evenly between the 9 of us after the ambush, then carried it back to the safehouse.

However, I'm flexible to the group as well.

Does anyone want to chip in for the lockpick set? Tristain has but 52.5 gp (assuming that he was able to reclaim his deposit from Jacovo), if not, he might only have 32.5.

Ezren will chip in for the lock picks.

@ Moshley - Ug, that's not good, but best of luck with school. School is more important anyway.

@ Everyone -- Obviously this is a fairly fast paced game that intends on completing all 6 books. It's much faster than just about any other game, which is both good and bad. You're almost done with book 1 and almost to level 3. I'm not going to be a GM that drops the game unless everyone basically backs out. If you don't want to play, now is the time to say so.

If anyone has a recommendation for a player to replace Moshley, please send me a PM or have that person send me a PM. I will emphasize that this is a very fast paced game, and I'd like someone who will stick it out to level 13-14. In general, I expect to complete a book every month. We'll need a caster type character who also speaks Infernal and Abyssal. If one of you really wants to play a caster, now is the time to switch.

If nobody sends me a replacement person idea, I will open the recruitment thread tomorrow (Tuesday, May 27). I'd like everyone's input on what to put in the recruitment thread, since it's important for you guys to get what you are looking for. I will also allow the group to vote on the player selected via PMs. However, I would prefer a recommendation, as the three of you have vast online gaming experience.

After this encounter at the woodcarvers, the game will be on temporary hold until we get a fourth (as in, you cannot move from the woodcarver's house, but you may still roleplay). I don't think you guys will survive this last mission with just 3 players, assuming I play smart NPCs. I could play dumb NPCs, but that's no fun for anyone (those games are a dime a dozen around here).

Lastly, since you guys only brought 3 NPCs with you (none of which are really battle capable yet), we will assume that the 4th player was the extra NPC that came along, and suddenly shows you that they can cast spells/whatever. It's the easiest way to just keep the game rolling.

I have had 1 recommendation, and I have sent a lengthy reply to that person about expectations, the setting, etc.

I'm going to be at the pool again today, but I will have my phone and able to respond.

Lastly, you really need to think about letting that tiefling live, since she saw all your faces. But, I could have missed where you put them on. Or, you guys might have another solution....

Anyway, the reason why you don't want them to know is because if you were to fail and have to leave, they will track you. Plus, I doubt the government (ah yes, the wonderful Westcrown noble government, all the good deeds they do) would like it if "heroes" were doing the job the dottarri or Hellknights are meant to do. It might also threaten the church, if heroes started showing up and giving hope to people, who then might not feel compelled to worship Asmodeus in order to get revenge on those to wrong them.

Also, the other members of (k)Night's Bane will be performing more mundane tasks to help the locals, while you guys do the big stuff. But, the goal is for the locals (and the bad guys) not know if it's the hero behind the mask or just the more mundane members of the group.

Additionally, Tristain will never want to wearing his costume openly in town...he will remove it when walking around town, even if I forget to mention it.

For Tristain, loot does not weigh nothing. He tracks his encumbrance and will be moving slowly, however, can we assume that loot is evenly distributed unless noted. And if, in the GMs opinion we are nearing overload, please mention it and we'll find a solution. In theory, we just need a fancy magic bag or two.

Male Human Bard 2

I am a scion of House Phandros, as such I shall avail myself as expected; a deceitful, prideful vagrent with no apparent worth beyond my looks and my voice. I have a talent of no substance, yet society sees my gifts as having an enormous value...whether that is despite my parentage or because of my lineage I will never know.

Ostricized within the family internal because of what my mother (Ilyanna Phandros, daughter of Oberon Phandros, Oberon who was brother to Marcus Phandros) was caught doing, I was saved by my uncle Marcus as a wee child and raised by his son Eric Phandros and his wife Sylvia. My mother convicted of her crimes and killed 9 months after the incident when my sister was born, who was also subsequently killed. Her crime, you ask? She was caught mid coitus with a Deva summoned allegedly by a priest of Desna. This is all old news, yet you do not know me. You will know me however as Corey Evander, all Westcrown knows that name...star of such shows as "Aroden's Folly", "The Asmodean Passion", and of course my favorite "The Erinyes and the 9 Eunuchs"

As a cursed scion of House Phandros, I gain no benefit nor want any benefit from the family. But every so often my true name comes out and my Uncle gains more prestige; for while I am unloved by my family, my family loves the fame that I bring to their name.

Recently I met a man, a half-elf named Ariel. He offered me a chance to use my talent for substance, to matter...he offered me the greatest role I could ever take: the role of a liberator; a conqueror; a hero. It shall likely be the worst paying job I have seen, but with any luck I can claim my own fame without the Phandros name...Ariel has introduced me to a like minded group, to them I shall be known as, 'Domino'.

Okay, so we're going to go with some defaults.

I will say the following:

1) If you want loot spread around, so be it. Yes, magical bags would solve a big problem, but you don't have magical bags, yet. Just as having horses would have solved a big problem with this particular mission. I'd like everyone to have a way of carrying loot besides a backpack. Most of you are lacking that. To make it easy, I will say that each NPC had in their possession several empty sacks, allowing you guys 4 empty sacks (one for each of you). That should accommodate everyone.

2) If you want to have a default mask/costume policy, so be it. It's when you go inside. I will inform you of when you go into and out of a mission, when you take it on and off. You may over-ride this option with a specific post.

3) Without delays, it takes you guys 2.5 hours walking to get from the temple to the shrine. With a horse, probably 15-20 minutes, again assuming no delays. It twilight begins around 6:30pm (18:30). Sunrise is roughly 6:00 a.m., providing you guys with roughly 12 hours of daylight.

4) I'm unsure about other defaults. I suppose they will pop up and we can address them as needed.

Please remember I was told by a PC that they wanted no help or advice because making dumb mistakes was fun (and thus if you guys didn't post something, it didn't happen. I would have had an NPC tell you to put them on before going in, but that was not what people wanted, or so I was led to believe). I believe the group also stated they wanted no-weight loot. So, we moved the pendulum to one end. Now we're swinging it back. Either way is fine, but be aware I'm adjusting to player feedback. Perhaps defaults is more of a middle-of-the-road approach.

If it isn't working out and we find defaults annoying or troublesome, we'll try something else. As you can see, I'm rather flexible in this regard.

While the "mask" might be cool for an avatar, I'll need a picture for your character in the map program, let me know which one you want, if you have a preference. Otherwise I will just assign you a picture for the map program.

If it isn't working out and we find defaults annoying or troublesome, we'll try something else. As you can see, I'm rather flexible in this regard.

Yep, I think you've been totally flexible which is why I feel comfortable addressing these things openly in the OOC. I like the solutions provided and we'll go from here.

As a side note, I have yet to join a new starting campaign wherein there was no early going drama, defections, quitting, new players or whatever...it always has a rugged start as people adapt to play styles, pacing, and what the demands of the game are.

We'll adjust and move on. We're going to learn to play together as we go. And now we have a new yahoo, Domino to integrate in. I know Domino's player out of game and he's high quality, knows his stuff, and will help us with these annoying turdburglars.

Welcome, Domino.

Oh, so I thought of another "default". When you guys are in-between combat, I will assume you are just dragging the loot sack around. During combat, you will let go of the loot sack. When it is over, you will return to get the loot sack. Now, you cannot drag loot sacks while using stealth; they make a lot of scratching noises that can be heard for 40-50' in all directions as they are made of burlap and the ground isn't polished marble. So, if you want to be all quiet like, it will require initially 1 hand to hold the sack, and later as you guys get more loot, 2 hands to keep it off the ground while you move. Yes, this will require you to put your weapons away, or you'll cut the sack.

So, obviously the NPCs will tell you to lift the sack since the enemy is currently unaware of your presence. Later it may not matter. You can currently carry the sack in 1 hand.

I do not mind that loot has weight. Ezren will not take any normal loot that is not easily carried. That is he will not take one handed weapons or larger or armor unless he says he does. Ezren will take his 1/4 of the loot from coins and smaller items.

I shall post as my "normal" persona for the moment.

2nd Level HP 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4 1d6+2 for Bard +1 for Con

Please use the Corey Avatar for map purposes if you can.

He will be currently equipped as Domino, with most of his useful gear safely stored elsewhere (presumably at the safe house) along with his horse (since everyone else seemed to be a bit unprepared).

Okay "corey", er, Domino. I've updated your pic. I'll switch it in the map in the near future. Feel free to read the history and post, or ask questions of me or your fellow PCs. Also see my email. When you make that adjustments, send me the new PDF.

The safehouse is currently under the Shrine of Aroden, a very public place. Can't store a horse there, sorry. There was a stable in the middle of the city, but unfortunately due to some in-game event, that's no longer a viable option. Thus, the group is currently stuck without horses.

I got to find a way to remedy that later on. This is the one time when it's a big deal.

Okay, here's something else: Unless you tell me otherwise, I'm going to assume you are speaking in common. Won't be a problem for most of you.

That is a fair assumption for default.

1I'm going to give it a bit more time to make sure everyone has something to do. If Jimmy/Ezren are just waiting for something, let me know via PM and I'll will push the game forward.

I just like for the first 3 people to have a chance given their initiative rolls. I don't want to slow it down too much, but if you're last, then I ask for a small delay in posting.

Domino is within melee with his whip so he can aid my character. I asked this question a few months ago on the forums and everyone agreed that a whip can be used to aid from 15 feet away.
