Everyone take a look at the loot document. See if there is anything you want to claim. There is a +1 breastplate, a +1 morningstar, a couple of masterwork armors. Once people claim what they want, and the party claims a few things (potions/wands/etc), we'll sell the remainder.
Please let me know relatively soon, so we can sell the loot and you guys can buy stuff.

What do you do?
This seems like a time zone issue. Why don't we say we stopped for 5 minutes and let Jimmy post what Jimmy would do in retro when he gets back on?
I think we can balance our timezone issues with a bit of flexibility.

There are two options:
The group can either: 1)stop (something Domino doesn't want to do); 2) not stop (in which case Jimmy has the option to stop anyway or continue on, his choice when he posts).
Should the group choose option #2 and Jimmy decides to stop, then Jimmy is in a solo like quest and I'll deal with it that way. There won't be any group interaction in that quest.
If you stop, the group could of course interact in this event.
So, the reason I post what do you do is because someone has announced they don't wish to stop. You can respond to that indication in gameplay. Hence, "what do you do?"

Presumably, we'll be able to sell stuff this trip? And what sorts of things can we buy?
Will we be able to touch the coin in Row 13?

I'm going to say this: If you guys want to quit because you don't like the game, or how I run it, now is the time to do it. We're about to start book 2, and it's a good breaking point for anyone who is unhappy.

I like the game just fine, but there are things that would have made the current situation make more sense.
If Amaya and Tarvi would have had a discussion about what happened down in the lair when Tristain tried to engage them this might have been avoided. Since neither of them wanted to discuss or think about the big picture at the time, the current scene seems really forced.
I'm sure, if asked, Ezren and Domino would feel the same way. We were all trying to kill that boss tielfing.
Well, Tristain has made his post and we'll see how they respond.
| Jimmy Bodrick |
I'm hoping to establish at least something positive with Jimmy's recent post. If not I'd say we start our own stable: Jimmy's Horse Rental.
Jimmy will want to go back for Moshley. May I assume we wrapped Moshley up and took him with us? I didn't intend Jimmy to leave without his brother's corpse, but we'd already moved on before I had a chance to make such a post.

While you can't really carry a dead body through the streets (and you have to deal with already the heavy load of goods), arrangements can be made.
You still have to get to the safehouse, and your biggest hurdle is to come. Remember, the city was entering freaking out chaos mode this morning. The main way of controlling the city are the various entry/exit points in the city. There is a key bridge you must cross that has been (historically) heavily guarded, but Ezren knows some of the guards there (although I'd have to search for their names).
Once you no longer have obstacles, I will let you know and you guys can assume to make it to the safehouse. What you'll need to figure out:
1) How to get Moshley's body
2) If to return the stolen goods or keep them yourselves (if you intend to keep it, I'll redo the math on the spreadsheet, it's a lot. One reason it's not "final" yet)
3) How to inform the citizens/authorities that the Bastards were defeated
4) How to make sure (k)Night's Bane get's credit for all this without exposing your identities.
The reason you can't expose your identities yet is that the "authorities" are using the excuse of the Bastards to kill every tiefling they can find, which is like Jews in Germany kind of thing. The authorities like having this excuse.
Also, you'll need to think about that letter you found in Palaveen's office.
Lastly, please post what you want to claim from the loot. I assume someone wants the +1 breastplate and the +1 morningstar at least. Remember, you are NEVER worse off from claiming an item, as you can always sell it later. Thus, if you think there is a remote chance you want the item, you should claim it.

I will claim the Wand....i can use it as healer support. Since im not casting that way normally as Domino.

** spoiler omitted **
I'll have the "party" claim the wand since it's really for everyone, but you'll carry it. Thus, it won't go against your final loot value calculation. Generally, wands or potions that benefit the group probably should be classified that way. Potions/wands that are for personal effects (like damage/etc) should be "claimed" by a PC that goes against their valuation.
So, I'll have you carry it. You don't want the masterwork studded armor? It's light armor that would save you some coin if you wanted to enchant it.
As for your other comment, yes, you can try it when we get there. Although, it might be different from what you expect given what's happening in the city.
| Jimmy Bodrick |
The +1 morningstar and +1 breastplate seem interesting, but I've never used +1 items yet and am slightly confused about what they do.
Do +1 weapons give +1 to only attack rolls, or also to damage? I read somewhere that +[don't know how much] weapons can bypass DR.
Does the +1 to armor add 1 to the armor bonus of the armor, or does it only reduce the armor check penalty (like masterwork does)?
Do +1 items have any other effects?
Council Chairman
|
Yeah, a +3 weapon is when you can start bypassing various things besides magic. +3 I think is cold iron/silver, +4 I believe is adamantine, and +5 is alignment based DR.
You won't have to worry about +3 items for a while.
Council Chairman
|
Once you reach the safehouse, you're level 3.
| Jimmy Bodrick |
Are we allowed to buy +1 items from the stores, or will be only encounter them as loot?
Jimmy'd like the +1 breastplate and +1 morningstar, but he'd prefer to keep using a bastard sword. The +1 morningstar is for Jimmy to be useful when slashing weapons don't do much.
Council Chairman
|
Anything and everything essentially is available in Westcrown.
| Tristain the Chalker |
Tristain would claim the MW Studded Leather and no active interest in the rest. He would offer the extra armors/weapons to Gorvio if he wants any of them. Might as well equip them as we can.
As for the wooden coin/stolen loots, I don't have a plan for that and would gladly do whatever is suggested.
| Jimmy Bodrick |
Okay, I'll claim the +1 breastplate and +1 morningstar.
I'll buy a masterwork buckler for 155 gold, and I'll sell Jimmy's normal breastplate, morningstar, and buckler. When sold at 50% Jimmy'll get 106 gold and 5 silver for those.
Not yet sure if there'll be something else Jimmy wants to buy/sell. I don't think I'll have enough gold for a +1 bastard sword, and I haven't taken a good look yet at magic items I may want to buy.
Council Chairman
|
I'll sell Jimmy's normal breastplate, morningstar, and buckler. When sold at 50% Jimmy'll get 106 gold and 5 silver for those.
Sorry, no double-dipping on Moshley's stuff. The citizens in that area are dirt poor and will have stolen all of Moshley's stuff when you recover the body. That's my in-game excuse. The only items that you recovered off of Moshley were the potions.
OMFG, IT ATE MY POST.
Council Chairman
|
I hate these forums, they always eat my long post edits, so here is a brand new post
Anyway, here's what I have so far (but look at the loot spreadsheet to verify)
Jimmy: Morningstar+1/Breastplate +1
Tristain: MW Studded Armor
Ezren: None
Domino: None
Party: Wand of CLW (11 charges).
Things of note that nobody seems to want: Tanglefoot bag, Potion of disguise, MW Breastplate.
So, here's how it works assuming you guys want to return the stolen goods (let me know):
[please note all #'s are in gp. Jimmy - in America we use commas]
Coin/gems: 3,530
Armor: 4,250
Weapons: 2,782
Potions: 675
Wands: 165
Other: 50
Total value found: 11,452 (nice)
Now, the "party" has claimed (mostly potions, wands and some basic armor) 1,145gp of items that will not be sold. Bringing the total available to individual PCs to 10,307. Okay, so far, so good I hope.
Now, he's the math part. First, I estimate how much you "should" get in value assuming 100% value: 10,307 divided by 4 of you for 2,577 per player. That's an important point of reference that we will use to determine "fairness" over time.
Now, since you get 100% value for coin/gems (thanks to Tavari's family), the non-coin/gem loot that wasn't claimed by the party has a value of 7,922 (11,452 - 3,530 = 7,922). This is the potential stuff to be sold. Okay, moving on.
Now, we have to remove from the 7,922 (potential to be sold) stuff that you don't want to sell. This includes stuff to the party and to individual players. The party claimed 1,145 as mentioned above. Tristian claim is 175gp, Ezren and Domino are 0, and Jimmy is at a whopping 3,658. Please note that Jimmy's claim exceeds the reference point of 2,577 average value of claim by more than 1,000gp. Thus, if say Ezren wanted the morningstar (surprised he didn't), then he would be granted it since Jimmy is exceeding his average. But anyway, the group can try to settle this up next level.
So, the "group as a whole, including the party" has claimed 4,978 of value not to be sold of the potential 7,922. Thus, the amount to be sold is of course the difference 2,944. Your current sell rate is still 50%, so you receive 1,472 on those items. Add to that the coin/gems at full value to get a total coin amount of 5,002.
Moving over to the other columns, you'll see a % of claim. So, here it is a tad more complicated, but it should make sense. So, we go back to our reference point of 2,577 average claim per player. We see that Jimmy is will over that, so his remaining claim is 0 (as you can't have a negative number unless you want jimmy to hand gold out of his account to the other players, which could be an option but I'd rather not). Thus, Jimmy receives no gold, since his loot value is in excess of his allotment.
Ezren and Domino having no claims, are set at 2,577 (the base reference point). Tristain, who claimed 175gp of value, is set at 2,402 (2577 - 175). Jimmy's claim is 0, since he can't claim any gold because his value exceeds the reference point. Now, we total up the claims for 7,555. We don't have 7,555 gold to distribute obviously, we only have 5,002 gold. So, we take the % of the claim each has on the total, and then distribute the 5,002 gold. Thus, Domino and Ezren each receive 1,706gp. Tristain receives 1,590gp. Jimmy obviously does not receive any gold as his items are worth more than the reference point.
I hope this explanation of the method shows that it tries to keep everyone at a similar share of loot, but clearly if you claim more than your "fair" amount, it can result in one player outpacing the others. The GM (me) keeps track of wealth per character and you'll find that I will adjust loot to other players should anyone start falling behind. I also expect players to politely inform me if they believe they are falling behind. Players tend to keep better track of their stuff than I can of everyone's stuff.
I'll give you guys until the end of today (my bedtime), before we go with this final math. You can take a look and make sure you're okay with it.
Once we finalize the math (I'll post the final gold distribution tonight), you can then go buy stuff and when you're all done, send me or post all your changes in 1 post please. If you rolled earlier for HP, just remind me of the #.
Oh, one more thing. As you see, if you only get the gold of 1,706 and add that to your wealth level at the start of level 2 of ~1,000gp, you're a tad behind. But, you also need to keep in mind that the "party" has some wealth tied up at 1,145, so divided by 4 that is 286 per player, so your 1706 + 286 should bring you to a very close wealth per level recommendation per Paizo.

Domino will carry the potion of disguise for party use....it can be handy.
Domino has a good disguise check already and a disguise kit but those take more time.
Keep the potion for if he needs back up on infiltration.
Updated. That potion was going to be used by Palaveen to escape, but he ran into a barricaded door because of your bluff and ghost sound.

While I know people are going to be thinking about loot and their character, please keep posting in gameplay. There are some scenes that don't involve rolling dice but are still important. I suspect if we keep posting at a decent rate, we'll "start" book 2 by Sunday/Monday.
The group should invest in a cure light wounds wand (in addition to using the 11 charges in the other wand). The 11 charges probably will be enough, but given how some of you have rolled, who knows.
Council Chairman
|
Okay, final loot. If you want to sell some of your original equipment as it may no longer be needed, please do so at the 50% rate and let me know how much coin you obtained doing it when you tell me your purchases, etc. in your summary post. Try to make it easy for me.
Jimmy: +1 Morningstar, +1 Breastplate.
Tristain: MW Studded Leather & 1,591gp
Ezren: 1,707gp
Domino: Potion of Disguise Self & 1,691gp
The "party" currently has:
2 chainmails and 2 longswords for the "jersey boys", multiple potions, 1 wand CLW (11 charges).
I recommend you invest in 1 wand of CLW.
As for the gameplay post on how to inform the town of (k)Night's Bane. I'd like to do all the options if possible. By the tomorrow morning (my time), I'll look at the proposals and try to do all of them somehow.
I will be introducing a new NPC tomorrow, so be ready.
Council Chairman
|
Oh, I should note something:
What you will "not" need. You will "not" need a way to carry loot, or a horse, or other "things" really. In fact, beyond the CLW wand, you're probably fine. So, should you wish to save your coin for a larger purchase, that could be a wise decision at this point.
At level 4, you will need a way to carry loot. So, that's "next" on the party list to acquire. One of those extra-dimensional bags.

HAHAHA, I had a blast writing those four different incidents you encounter trying to spread the news.
Don't worry, they should be resolved in 1-2 posts. But it's quite a lot of fun. Let's try to get this resolved today if we can.

That's okay, can happen.
Jimmy'll buy the Wand of Cure Light Wounds. I figure that makes up a bit for claiming such a high value, which caused the others to get less gold. So that's -750 gold for Jimmy.

Jimmy learns 1 more level 0 spell: Detect Magic

Corrected mistakes:
Perception was a class skill all this time due to Jimmy’s chosen mystery...
I added the +3 class bonus, albeit somewhat late.
Also removed 1 HP from Jimmy: I always thought racial favored class bonuses are added in addition to the normal favored class bonuses, but they aren’t.
When Jimmy takes a level in oracle I have to choose between the usual +1HP or +1SP, or the racial favored class bonus where Jimmy gets a free spell (1 level below the max level Jimmy can cast).
At level 1 I took both 1 HP and the free spell...
At level 2, when Jimmy gained a BAB, I forgot to add the BAB to CMB. I added it now.
------
Items gained/bought/sold:
Claimed: +1 breastplate, +1 morningstar
Sold: breastplate (100gp), morningstar (4gp), and buckler (2gp 5sp)
Bought: masterwork buckler (155gp), wand of cure light wounds (750gp)
819gp 3sp + 106gp 5sp – 905gp = 20gp 8sp

Guys, I'm giving you a "week" in game-time to do whatever you want to do during this downtime. I was hoping to get the "downtime" stuff done by today, but apparently that's not going to happen. Go buy stuff, sell stuff, talk to whomever, do whatever you need to do. There is no "conflict" during downtime. While you do whatever you want to do during this downtime, just post it (within reason) in the gameplay thread so people know what you're doing. If you want to do a secret mission, just post it in a spoiler to me.
You can probably do all this in one big post. Whatever you feel like. Just post what you are doing in gameplay.
