I had a discussion with one of you about this. There is no "right" or "wrong" answer. There is no "winning" or "losing" in this situation.
There will be complications for letting them live. There were complications if you had let them kill each other. There are benefits for letting them live, there were benefits had they killed each other.
But, it's important in this setting to have these kinds of moral checks. Did you want to crucify the girl for a better chance at success? Did you want to profit from Thesling's demise? What do you do when those who have conspired to kill you, are facing their own doom?
How you handle and cope with these compelling issues, are just a micro aspect of how you handle and cope with the city's problem. The society and culture. How do you affect change? Is a woman's refusal to go to the back of the bus all it takes to start it?
Revolutions with the sword rarely last. Revolutions with the heart might. I hope you felt confused and unsure, that's part of the enjoyment of a good story, a conflicted character. Mashing monsters is fun as well, but I try to add a bit of internal conflict.
The scene between Robahl, Thesling and Delour is my creation. The crucifixion choice was my creation. You have chosen to let your two worst enemies live: the girl and Thesling. It's an interesting choice. I'm sure you're regret it at times (I intend to make you regret it at times). I also intend to make sure you benefit from it as well.
Hope the play was different. Never done anything like that, and I hope that only giving you parts of the play made it a bit more interesting to see how people would respond and proceed.
Now we have time for speeches to the crowd. I wonder what you'll say.

You guys do realize the point of giving the speech, right?

I do.
Tristain doesn't. It doesn't make sense to him that he would be giving a speech at all...save that it's tradition, but not one that makes any sense.

GM is insinuating that now is a time to talk about Nights Bane even though it makes zero sense in character to do so since that is secret.
The entire point for us doing the play is to go to the after party and snoop around. Unfortunately cant do that if we are branded as crazy people or radicals....
So stay in character and off of kNights bane.
Phaedra Valerius
Eh, stuck with her personal beef about how hard it is for true talent to get acting jobs.
She will wait until she is sure of her popularity and her position before she will start talking too radical. Start that s&@# too early and the jobs will disappear.
Even though she may believe in the cause, the stage is still her first love. Though Corey could end up second. ;)

I am? No, I'm not. Whatever. I don't care. If you assumed I was trying to get you to talk about (k)Night's Bane, then it is clear you have no idea what the point of the speech is about. I thought it was clear, but nevermind. I sometimes think things are clear at GM, but realize they are not clear to characters.
Since you don't know what they are about, we will skip the speeches and move the game along.

Ok, I am going to sit in the very confused section of the group. I had not thought about what to say, but I see it as a great chance to speak to the nobility of the city. Especially nobility that thought it was scandalous that we did not accept Asmodeus's blessing beforehand.
Had not thought through what William was going to say just yet, but knowing that his patron is outlawed in the city, and he is trying to loosen the grip of Asmodeus on everyday life, He was trying to find a means to sneak that into his speech.

You can take 10 on those if you choose William...or roll the dice if that pleases you.

Not to my knowledge. I will look it up, but that I remember I don't think that is the case.

No, you cannot take ten, see my PM linky William I sent earlier per lead developer ruling. Still, please send me the ORIGINAL spell book. Then I can add those, or make it rather clear in your PM which were which.
Thanks!

Hey CC and all,
Going to be at the doctor's and hospital today starting about 10am CST, probably won't be done till around 2pm or so, depending on how things go.
Will try to be able to check updates, but most likely won't be able to post, and cannot adjust ditzie.
William Silverheart
Update:
I am at my standard PT appointment, and if things progress as I expect them to, I will most likely be going down to admitting. That said, I'm probably going to be on iv antibiotics which means in patient stay. Could be as long as five or six days.
I will post as I am able, but posting will be reduced and unless I get my laptop here I will not have ditzie access.
William Silverheart
Did you guus have to wait for me to be in the hospital before doing something crazy?

Uh...not all of us have gone crazy...just uhm...the already crazy ones?
I kid, Jimmy! We'll RP through this or die trying. It's a weird scene not helped by lots of little things and...yeah...

Let me expand on something here in gameplay. Did most of you you eat or drink the food? No. Did one of the NPCs tell a PC in this game that the wine was particularly potent? Yes. Did another NPC tell a PC in this game that this particular wine isn't available anywhere else? Yes. Did someone tell a PC in this game that the parties tend to last several days? Yes. Did an NPC tell a PC that things in this house aren't what they appear? Yes. It should be apparent that they aren't serving "wine" once you put some of this information together, which usually you would do to compare notes after the meal. Since when does "wine" knock people out for several days? It's a magical elixir. The snake was stuffed with a magical elixir, and Jimmy ate the snake as did some other NPCs (thus they don't seem concerned about him, but he made his fortitude save). Maybe it might not make sense because people in real life don't drink magical elixirs. Maybe when it doesn't make sense, that's a great chance to ask questions. Why don't they get up and pee like in real life? Because in real life we don't drink super duper magical knock-you-out liquids.
Which of course, is another question. Why are they serving super duper knock you out magical liquid anyway? What's the point of it? Just to allow you to move around? That seems a bit contrived. Maybe there is more to it....maybe you can figure it out....who is serving the freaking food? The SLAVES. Why would SLAVES give food that knocks people completely out? Oh gee, who can tell...that's so hard to figure out...the GM is just making stuff up for no reason....slaves wouldn't, oh I don't know, try to ESCAPE? Hmmmm. It sounds like they have tried this before....why are they still here? Sounds like something you could figure out as well.
Oh, and for the Hellknight orders...Did an NPC tell another PC in this game that the Hellknight's have been called in before? Yes. They have seen people at these parties completely passed out.
I realize some of you have played this AP before. I have changed a variety of things, so when trying to compare them to your previous experience, it may not make sense. That's your problem, not mine.
So, you can complain....or you can wonder why things are the way they are and figure them out.
I'll pause the game to let anyone else who wants to leave, to leave. No hard feelings. I tried to make this game intriguing and different from the standard AP. Having you help the slaves escape seemed like an additional interesting twist....but whatever.
Corey Evander

Why in the hell would we try or think about freeing the slaves?
It would cause more problems then it could help. At thispoint no slaves asked to be freed...we may technically be freedom fighters in character but none of us are Andoran.
We are here simply to try and gain access to the Asmodean knot and get out alive again. We arent trying to over complicate things.
In walking William out, i was try to prevent the need for the hellknights while having some ideas to get him back in....instead they are there inside 1 minute it seems.
Perhaps some GM cut scenes would have helped us come up with your ideas but since we are a full party of 90% role play characters and not combat monsters, we really arent all about randomly attacking hellknights.
Tristain the Chalker
I'm a little shocked. Nothing I posted was a complaint.
It was a celebration of the different and given so that the entire party might realize that 'normal' logic won't apply in this part of the game. Tristain was helping clarify to others that things were going to be different and we needed to think differently about how to approach this situation.
Tristain is happy to roll with the situation and posted as such.
Two more things: when I actually complain, I'll be sure to label it as "Complaint" so we won't have any other misunderstandings. My OOC/blue text is reserved for snark, questions, & clarifications. If something is unclear, I'm going to ask. I trust you to respond appropriately.
Secondly, this is really all my bad: we discovered in the sewers that there was no poop. I assumed, incorrectly, that the tieflings were turdburglars. Clearly, people in this game just don't poop. Which makes sense, when you consider how anal the Hellknights are.
Tristain waits for his comments to the Hellknight to be resolved.

Just an update for everyone, doing a lot better today. Chance that they will discharge me tomorrow. Just depends on some test results that come back tonight and tomorrow.
Just know that I am bacterial, and that I am hoping it is not mrsa.

I will be going through the variety of PMs I have received during my break this past week over the course of today. I hope everyone had a decent week and that William has recovered. I will likely make some NPCs and we will continue.
I run this game for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. I've put up with a lot of nasty PMs in the past, a bit of nastiness in discussion thread, but I will not tolerate nastiness in gameplay.
I suspect we will resume the game tomorrow (Wednesday). I haven't responded to anyone's PMs simply because I haven't looked at them, but I see I have a whole bunch of them.
William Silverheart
Hey CC,
Just to bring you up to speed:
Was discharged last Friday. Still on heavy antibiotics. Had what we believe was a psudomonis infection. My arms still look battered and bruised from the IVs that I had put in me.
I am doing better, but the meds I am taking are still kicking my butt pretty well. I will be around, and keeping an eye of the proceedings of the game, though I probably will be another week or so before I am up to full posting ability.
Thanks for your concern all.

I've sent a PM to Phaedra...who is up to post. Given the 1 week delay, I'm giving her a bit more time to post.
Council Chairman

I've sent another PM to Phaedra....I know she's sick so let's see what happens today, if no post in next 6 hours I will skip.
Council Chairman

I totally understand. When my son first started pre-school, he would be sick for a few days. I'd catch it and be sick for three weeks. By the time I was over it, he'd catch something else and then I was sick again for 3 weeks. I worked from home for nearly a year and it almost destroyed my career.
Jimmy Bodrick
I haven't had a reply from CC yet, and considering how long he's gone I'm not sure if he'll come back.
I'd very much like to continue this game. If CC hasn't returned by the end of the week, shall we start searching for another GM to run it?
Jimmy Bodrick
I made a recruitment thread for a new GM, and I hope we'll find someone.
I'd also like to raise another issue:
William's currently not able to post a lot, but I hope he'll return... Though with Tristain kicked out by CC I feel like we're a person short...?

So you got word that CC is gone? Any specific share-able reason why?
Perhaps if we got a GM we could get Tristain back?
Jimmy Bodrick
I've got no word from CC at all. No reply to my PM, nor to my email. CC hasn't made a post in my game, where he was a player, either.
He used to post every single day. Whenever I sent him an email he replied within 24 hours. So for him to be gone for 11 days, without announcing why... I have a feeling that means he abandoned paizo and won't come back.
I second asking Tristain back if we can find another GM. I liked his character, and he was a fun match with Jimmy. I'll go ahead and send him a PM.
Here is a link to the GM recruitment post I made. Perhaps you guys also want to add something?
Jimmy Bodrick
Tristain replied to my PM and let me know he'd like to return. So that means we have 4 active players again, 5 when William's feeling better and able to return.
We'll see if we can find someone who'd like to continue to run this game for us :)
