Huh. I always thought Elgan's 'raptor form' was a huge goose, running around honking loudly and nipping people. Terrifying! I guess I was wrong.

"Silver weapons, eh? Are any of us carrying a silver blade?" Altai looks around the Regulators. "Fire, on the other hand, shouldn't be hard to come by."

I heard the Romans used geese as guard dogs. Dogs'll take poisoned meat. Geese, though not as deadly, will honk and attack with no end.

Pip touches his sword scabbard.

"Ol' Allegro isn't silver, but she's got some glammer in her makeup. I'm better off with ol' Lucille here."

Oso nods, "I have a dagger of silver. Nothing else."

He mentions about the rats, bats and wolves that Baal Sakatha can become.

Male Wild Elf Druid 16 (Shifter version, PHBII)

Hey! Geese can be scary! Like all stoopid kids, I managed to get chased by one once! <shudder>

"Dah Vamp unded kin turn into all them critters, AN' call on deh same tah he'p him? SOun's like ah've jes' bin handed a challenge. NO unded shuud have the ability er' right tah mimic what Muthah nature grants tah her own! Tanight dis vampeere gits a lil' taste o' nature's wrath!"

While as animated as ever, and his accent is probably quite entertaining to the 'civilized folk', his companions can tell that Elgan is actually quite upset. In fact you've seen him angry, sad, and happy,... but you don't recall seeing him P!$$ED before,...

Male Human Rogue 14

“No silver weapons, but I have these two flasks of holy water,” reports Beldan. “Otherwise, my blade’s probably going to be pretty useless against it. So its minions are just normal lizardmen right?”

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

"The red ones,....." the chieftan speaks; "they were normal before. They've been changed somehow."

dungeonmaster heathy wrote:

My jujitsu teacher bred guard dogs and trained them. And although I guess the Romans did not, we today have the means to train dogs to take nothing they're given that isn't in their food bowl - AT ALL. What you do is run electrodes through pieces of steak, hotdogs, chicken legs, EVERYTHING that isn't in their food bowl has 10 amps running through it. When they have a bite, ZOLT! Even if it's in a bowl other than their own, ZOLT! Keeper has the bowl and locks it up while the dogs are on duty and you have NOTHING to worry about.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Yeh....Romans didn't have electricity.

"Those are dangerous adversaries. Beyond their undoubtedly considerable pre-change prowess, they seem to have been augmented with the blood and ichor of demons; also, their claws and bite are now poisonous." He grins sourly. "However, despite their otherworldly resistances, they are far from immortal. We've already killed a fair number of them - fire and sword seem to do the job just fine."

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

He looks enraged for a moment, then sullen...
"I guess, I pay my own weregeld on them."

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

"Do you think you can win the non-demonic lizardfolk back if we kill their demonic and undead leaders, as well as their monstrous allies? Or are they a lost cause?"

"I shall be better prepared to fight the likes of demonfolk and vampires, than on the boat."

"Pip man, you wanted to be a hero in one dem songs, looks like you got dat chance."

Bard 8/ Troubadour of Stars 9 Epic Shredder

Pip laughs

"Well, I can see that hanging with this group will give me plenty of material for future sagas!"

"I....just don't know."

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

"Uh-huh. Well, I've got a couple of scrolls with formulas that give weapons a magical edge. I'll use them on the few silver weapons we have."

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

So is Elgan pulling recon? Night approaches...

Stig's whetstone can render one weapon magical once per day. He'll magic up the admantine axe.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The sun starts to set.
The lizardfolk agree to hide in the back rooms, but the chief won't quit his throne.
He strings his mighty bow, sets his snickersnee next to his throne stabbed in the turf, and resolves to give smites at any who would cause mayhem in his good hall.
"I'm not like you pinkskins. I can balance myself somewhat with my good leg and my tail....I can't run by any means, but I can stand to a fight.
I won't run from this."

Stig will hide behind the hide tapestries. He sharpens Mammy (that's what he named his axe) with his enchanting whetsone.

Male Human Rogue 14

Beldan finds himself a hiding place behind the tapestry in L24. Thanks for the map Kruelaid!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Beldan's able to work open the seam of the tarp a little bit, to give himself adequate view of the great hall.
The fire dances and spits, and flickers throwing undulating shadows in the crossbeams above.

Male Wild Elf Druid 16 (Shifter version, PHBII)

sorry, family day,...

Elgan goes recon, placing himself pretty far back into the trees, counting on his different forms and his natural abilities to see anyone coming, and to prevent him from being spotted,...

Linkie not working? Hide: 1d20+2=16, Listen: 1d20+5=14, Spot: 1d20+11=27

plus any bonuses for animal forms for hiding??

He hides in a tree, still as can be, his keen elvish eyesight missing almost nothing,...

Hey mages, anybody got a message spell they can cast on me so we can keep in touch?

Male Human Rogue 14

Oh yeah, Hide: 7+12 = 19 if you need it.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Elgan:

Spoiler:

The sun sets and you are alone with the sounds of darkness...
after a good while, you go into a zone,... then through the trees four forms come walking.
One is a mighty lizardman. The other three are slight, elven stature perhaps...they are robed in dark robes. They stop.
The lizardman pulls his blade, and cuts himself about the arms.
The robed ones seem to be drinking from his proffered hands.

Now what?!?!

Tenser hides - 1d20=20 at B6.

Stig sits around and waits at F5 because he can't hide worth shit.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

heh heh...

>>>>>MAP<<<<<

Put Elgan at W28.

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

Altai start in B7 - he'll stay reasonably close to Stig so he can cast Enlarge on him early on. Additionally, he has loosened a couple of the ropes holding the skin taut, so he can step into C8. Hide check 13+3=16.

Also, before the sun went down, Altai went around and gathered up a bunch of vampire-killing impaling sticks. All party members have two sharpened stakes each.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Oh, and just to let you know;
there's a hole in the ceiling for the smoke from the fire; say pretty much directly above the fire pit and same rough dimension (Elgan'll want to know this).

Elgan flies in the hole in hawk form. Flames catch.

*WOOF*

MUAHAHAHA!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Tenser's slapping Altai in the leg repeatedly with his tail. He gets nervous before a fight; when the chips are down, though he's icy cool.

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

"Something's coming, eh?" Altai scratches the mutt on the head. "Take it easy, boyo. We'll keep bloodsuckers off you."

Male Wild Elf Druid 16 (Shifter version, PHBII)

My kingdom for a MESSAGE spell! Oh well,...

Elgan Watches from his perch in the tree. His black panther shape blending perfectly into the darkness. ;P

He observes the approach of the powerful lizardman and his cowled accomplices. When the cowled ones begin drinking from the lizard-vamp's blood, he almost loses control and growls. Almost. Instead he turns it into steely resolve that before this night is done, Mother Nature will have instructed this Lizard-who-refuses-to-stay-dead in the error of his ways.

Silently he shimmers into a great horned owl, and flies noiselessly through the dark skies until he comes to the hole in the roof. You DID know that owls make NO noise when they fly, right? Isn't that cool? ;P (I love it when special effects work in my favor!) There he perches, a lone shadow on the roof, hoping the heat from the fire's smoke will help hide him from the Vampire's sight. He gives a single 'Hoot' of an owl hunting to let the others know he is there. Then he crouches, and waits,...

OH bother! I probably wouldn't have cast my Barkskin until I knew they were coming. Unless they always come at the same time every night? I'll wait until they are entering, when it won't matter, and cast Barkskin hopefully before combat begins!

Male Human Rogue 14

An owl hooting. Must be Elgan giving us a pre-arranged signal, is what Beldan would be thinking if he succeeded at a listen check, could identify a fake owl’s hunting hoot from a real one, and if there was a pre-arranged signal.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

They enter the hall...the doors swing open.
when everybody has declared position, they stand at...

Spoiler:
the granddaughters are at f22, g22, and h22 and the lizard king is at g24.

They haven't approached deeply into the hall, three robed, slight figures standing before the vampire Baal Sakatha.

They disrobe.....long, black hair; small horns; scaly green skin covering statuesque and otherwise human female frames; sprouting from their shoulders are tiny bat wings. Girded in leather armor, sword in one hand and shield in another, they speak:

"greetings, grandfather....our father has sent us to meet you," in unison, to the chieftain.

Their proud father hisses his wicked mirth.

Still waiting on declarations of positions for combat to ensue, if you wish combat. Everybody has 2 rounds to buff if they wish, from Elgan's warning. If you're hiding, roll a hide, and I'll tell you if you get a freebie or not. Then it's initiative...

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

What the hell are the girls? Knowledge (arcana) 9+14=23, Knowledge (the planes) 15+14=29.

I buff up with Shield. It'll have to do. As posted above, I'm in B7;my Hide result is 16, plus whatever I get for being behind the leather hangings.

Male Human Rogue 14

Huh. I usually like girls with better skin, but these one’s are kinda hot, thinks Beldan. Maybe he has a secret thing for green chicks (‘cos who doesn’t, really?).

Hide result was 19, not sure if there’s any bonus for being behind the curtain. He’ll quaff his potion of Jump – no other buffs at this stage unless one of the casters decided to drop something long duration on me earlier.

Male Human Rogue 14
Altai Iscarni wrote:

[ooc]Beldan has no idea - though ooc I’ll take a guess at maybe draconic human vampires? At first I thought Alu-fiends?

Male Human Wizard 17 (Conjuration specialist)

Half-vampires? Wasn't there something like that in Liber Mortis? Not that I remember anything about them.

Male Human Rogue 14
Altai Iscarni wrote:

I don't have Liber Mortis, but there was a half-vampire template for 3.5 in Dragon magazine once. Could be.

That doesn't account for all the fiendish or draconic trappings though (horns, scales, wings etc), so there's somehting else going on too.

Half vampires? Is that like in Vampire Hunter D? Or Blade?

dungeonmaster heathy wrote:

Ok I have the vampire dudes. And the king is on his throne. Is there anyone else in the room? Does someone want to roll a hide for Gittik and post his position?

Bard 8/ Troubadour of Stars 9 Epic Shredder

Pip will move to L7 and conceal himself

Hide: 1d20+1=17

M Halfling Barbarian 10

Gittik strides out to the front. He is naked, the flickering firelight playing across every corded muscle and puckered scar, and somehow giving the distinct impression he has three legs. He stands, hands on hips and legs apart.

"Me Gittik. You remember me name, lizards. You no get time to forget. Me fight you, lizards, and me kill you. You get ready to die. Again."

Well, Heathy had this Beowulf vibe going with the hall and the nocturnal visitations by a monster. It would be churlish not to go with that.

Ready action to charge as soon as they look about to attack, and rage on. I can't access the map at work, so put me with the fire behind me and the intruders in front, and enough room to charge.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Oso casts lesser restoration on himself earlier in the day

At the owl's signal Oso starts casting Kelanen's gifts.

He lightly taps the halfling warrior with the swords on his shoulder bestowing bulls strength on the fighter. Then he casts protection vs evil on the same warrior. "My god fights with you."

Next he calls on Kelanen to protect himself and those nearby, casting magic circle vs evil.

Finally as the door opens the warrior priest blesses his silver dagger with magical power, magic weapon. He lifts his slim dagger and shield ready for the fight.

Oso will start off next to Pip, "stay close to me if you wish for my God's protection during the fight. No further than ten feet." Then sees the halfling go and hide. Oso is fine where he is on the map

Bard 8/ Troubadour of Stars 9 Epic Shredder

Pip heeds Oso's warning

"I'll stick with you man."

Pip remains at Oso's side. As Gittik calls out the foe he begins playing ominous chords as a backdrop to his stern chanting.

"Over the misty moors
From dark and dripping caves of his grim lair
Sakatha, with fierce ravenous strides came stepping.
A shadow under the pale moon he moved
Fiend from the Abyss
Foul enemy of the gods
Toward Gittik
Hero hobbit
Who waited with fearless soul and ready arms"

putting on the Inspire Courage

"Gittik dae ye hae jobby fur brains ye wee ankle-bitah. Stick together."

<Stig hops down when Gittik wanders off and begins his speech-making.>
