"Naw, Ah knows dat DAT ain't natch'rul!!!" Elgan shouts as the trio of horrors approach. He chants like a crazy person, his tiny magical pin glowing as it speeds up the druid's spell. In a flash the Jolly Green Giant appears and starts to charge the trio,...
OK, the charm allows the full-round Summon to take only a standard action, does the summoned still get a full action in the turn it appears? Either way, I summoned it in front of the group, and it entangles the area ahead of it, then charges the Glab-yuckies! :)
What is it; and where y'all want it?....
it gets a full round action.Altai Iscarni |
It's the plant-god stone giant. Summoning spells have "close" range, so Elgan can call it in up to 55' away from himself. If he moves up to M23, he can get the Jolly Green Giant to ST 17-18, from where it can charge the glabrezu engaged by Gjetost.
Here's something I'm curious about: Will the Jolly Green Giant benefit from bardic music, or did he need to be present when Pip started strumming? I could go either way on this one.
Elgan Dreadwood |
Hm, I'll go with the charge then. he can always entangle later if needed. I'm under the impression that as long as you are 'friendly' to the caster, you get the bardic music bonus as long as you are in the AoE. So the summons would be just like Elgan flying into the AoE. Yes? (I guess that's one interpretation!)
Just a min, let me look up the Jolly Green giant's attack,...
Awfertheluva,... I can't find the stats for the Jolly Green Giant! (I THOUGHT I had it on my profile,... so much for thinking,...) ;P

I think he'll be rolling with the bardic music. It makes sense.
I agree - it does make sense. To keep things rolling, Elgan's now at M23 and the big greenie plows through the snow to XY 12-13 and attacks the glabrezu. Attack roll 12+21+2(charge)+3(bard)-3(power attack)=AC 35, damage 11+21+3(bard)+9(power attack)=44. Thud!

I put it there literally two minutes ago - I got tired of looking for it too! It is obscenely strong, so the demon should feel that hit. Um, and sorry for taking his turn. I'll stay out of the way next round.

And here I thought you were super prepared. Is it telling that Heath and I both assumed that you would have it?

Yeah, although I’m quite partial to the typical D&D barely intelligent, ravening killing machine troll, I like the smart, crafty, magic using troll thing you’ve got going here too. And troll as messageboard troll is great.
Anyway, I'm guessing we're about to meet some of the more 'traditional' RPG style trolls in Aubrey's game soon enough ...
Altai Iscarni |
We probably will. As for Norse trolls, Theodor Kittelsen was the master. Some of his drawings were funny, some were creepy, all were awesome. His Wikipedia page has some great links as well.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I keep MEANING to be prepared! ;P Stoopid RL and other distractions, like work! I have at least 3 PbP profiles that need to be seriously updated! :(

I hate these trolls - i.e. it is working beautifully! These trolls have much more of the Norse flavour I was craving.
Also, didya know that giants are "humanoids" now and thus can be targeted with Enlarge person? Just thought I'd mention it...
heh heh...

There's another guy I've been looking at a lot lately...though I'll reveal all in good time. ;)

Believe you me; I know the feeling.

Still working out difficulties here, but Pip will fire off his Holy Cacophany tune next round
Rules spiler:
Threahing madly, Pip sends a sonic barrage towards the claw-handed dog-headed demons
"Demon Dogs!
Back to the pit of fire!
Demon Dogs
Your time has just expired!!!"
Pendobar 'Pip' Bushytoe |
BTW Pip/Pat, Your doing SUCH a fantastic job with the bard stuff, I am definitely tapping your brain for songs to help a PC I'm playing in Smerg;s new Dresden Files RPG thread. (I'm playing a Changeling Spellsinger who does illusions, should be fun!)
Funny thing is-I saw the potential a bard has as combat support when I was hip deep in MMORPGs. Obviously, their role is a little different in Pathfinder, but the basic strategy is the same. If you are willing to take a secondary role in the party a bard really punches up the numbers of the primary combatants, and can either heal or toss a handy arcane spell in when needed. I just wish I hadn't taken the feats I did. Combat feats, what was I thinking? LOL

right on...the side is 1-31.....instead of 1-20. top goes out to x. The ranks a-t 30 31 are water; the other side is forest.
Elgan is at m29.
claw is at ij 25-26.
altai is m22.
pip is j19.
gjetost is mn 15-16.
stiggy j12;
hnoss is m9,
and Beldan in the lead at j6.A trio of massive horrors approaching, knocking down trees once they realize they've been spotted by the pointman.
tuv 1-3,
uvw 5-7,
vwx 9-11.A vaguely wolflike head mounted with massive bull horns, and eyes that glint with cunning; scaly plated hide,...four arms; two spindly, human, almost an afterthought; two bedecked with crab pinscers....burbling through the tugley wood....

As Stiggy charges, Hnoss amps him.
He gets
+6 to hit, and +22 damage against the one he attacks.
His weapon is good.
He shreds through its carapace like a 50 cal through a big ass lump of butter.
She charges that one too to v9.
"Kill one as fast as we can! Double/triple up on the spawn of evil!!!"
She crits.
68 damage.
Their turn....
the injured one hits Stiggy with two pinchers, a feeble humanlike claw, and a bite;
Stiggy takes 94 h.p. in damage.
And Cleaves Gjetost; 21 in damage to the stone giant.
The other two say the weirding words......"daaaaaaaaaaa....hSHATACH!!!"
uvw 567 moves to opq 5-7 and power word: stun's Altai.
Altai is "stunned" for.....2 rounds.
tuv 123 "stuns" hnoss for 3 rounds.
And runes of awesome good and horrid power resonate, trembling snow off of the branches of the trees.
Group's attack!
Hnoss; Altai stunned; 2 rounds for the former and 3 rounds for the latter.
Beldan Vale |
Reckon Pip will need to move closer to have his holy cacophony effect the demons. So in round 1 he started up inspire courage and moved up to M16 or so. On round 2 he’ll move up R11, hopefully Claw or one of the giants will be able to move to screen him from oncoming demons, then he’ll use Holy Cacophony next round.
Stig and Hnoss will be in column ‘U’ not ‘V’, a the glabrezu is in V.
Claw the Golem |
Claw lumbers across the snow before assuming a defensive position in front of Pip.
Double move to QR 9-10.
Gjetost pounds away on the bestial demon.
No move. Attack 1: 11+19+3(bard)-3(power attack)=AC 30, damage 10+16+3+9(power attack)=38. Attack 2: 15+14+3-3=AC 29, damage 9+16+3+9+12(Smite Evil)=49; the last attack counts as Good. I keep forgetting that, as a celestal being, Gjetost can put down some righteous smack.
Altai stands around not doing much. Beldan, Elgan and Stig to go, plus the Jolly Green Giant.
Beldan Vale |
Actually, I changed my mind a little. Gjetost moves to NO 8-9 instead. Keeps him from being in the meat-grinder between two glabrezus, where he'd be shredded in no time at all.
Again, Stig, Beldan, Elgan and the Jolly Green Giant to go.
Beldan's gone - move only. Didn't have enough movement to flank and attack this round.
