You are all now in an enclosed space with an unknown advance (to the West), and no way out (to the East). This is known colloquially as "the kill zone".

In training, staying put is certain death. You must advance past "the kill zone" to get out of the line of multiple fire.

SURPRISE ROUND

A small living fire being, looking like a walking campfire, comes around the Northern corner. It runs forward and punches the azer near the body of the efreeti on the leg.
Slam atk on (ice blue) azer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Another small fire elemental comes out from the unseen alcove, much like the first, copying the first's action.

More small walking campfires come out, and it would be comical, except for the bigger brothers that follow behind them!

One of the bigger brothers jumps over Sammadar's body to reach Yazi. (Who gets another AoO.) Unlike the shapely fire elementals you encountered back at Kelmarane, these fire elementals are more beastly-looking.

As the other fire elementals wink out, their flames extinguished, the other elementals attack the solid ones in their territory.

Yazi, Nasir, and the azer up front see a bright light coming from the archway to the West, and three bonfires step closer. Bigger than the Brass Men of the vaults, these roaring fire elementals with brutish features made the brass walls shine brilliantly. (Huge; having to squeeze to get them through the door.)

The azer in front, seeing the small fire elementals unable to get through his brass armor, decided to strike back.

The fire-dwarf stepped back, hearing the other adventurers behind him. (5ft. step diagonal behind Nasir)

The other azer ran up to join the battle. "Gauntlet formation!" Coldtooth cried out. The others seemed confident until the huge fire elementals came though the archway, then much cursing in Ignan was heard, like rocks cracking under heat.

Nasir danced forward, as Bartan flung a card, his target nearly doubling over in pain when the playing card connected.

(Rules As Written are...vague. Resist Energy (20 pts) cast by Hajar reads "The spell protects the recipient's equipment as well. Resist energy absorbs only damage. The subject could still suffer unfortunate side effects." So technically you could catch fire, but not suffer any damage. What is the damage from fire? Light, heat, consumption of material.)

(So the fire goes out (no consumption) after one round. No Reflex Save needed. The affected material could still be hot several minutes later, if Resist Energy were to fade before the material cooled to room temperature.)
