Yazi
|
Yazi decides to open said locked door.
Damage (Slashing, Magical): 1d12 + 7 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 29
Damage (Slashing, Magical): 1d12 + 7 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 28
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
"Hold on a second." Nasir says as she goes over to where Yazi points on the locked door. "Y'know there's easier ways to do that right?" she asks with a grin, producing a vial of acid and carefully pouring it into the lock.
That might take 2 rounds to do in all
| GM_Pace |
Yazi manages to break some of the wood of the strong door, but the iron hinges and bindings hold fast.
[dice=acid damage round 1]1d6[/dice]
The combination of massive damage and acid makes the door practically fall apart. (STR Check DC 10)
(Hajar, Monsters, Bartan, Rayhan)
| Bartan Harrowborn |
"Well done, ladies." Bartan moves up behind the two women and prepares to cast a spell as soon as the door is open. Delay until the door is open.
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar delays, waiting for the ladies to open that door.
| GM_Pace |
The slaves look like they'd rather run away than be in the presence of an unknown fighter.
(Looks like everyone's delaying.)
Rayhan moves into the room behind the others, holding his wand of magic missile at the ready.
ROUND EIGHT
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Nasir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 (Acid-in-the-lock's turn)

(Bartan, Monsters, Nasir, Khayal, Hajar, Yazi, Rayhan)
| Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal looks the men over to see if they are concealing anything of value, especially a scroll. perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Yazi
|
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Yazi nonchalantly kicks the door with enough force to send it flat against the opposite wall.
"Oh yeah!" she says stepping through the now empty doorframe.
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
Grinning, Nasir practically flows into the room, sword at the ready, body moving lithely across the floor.
| GM_Pace |
This well-apointed office features a sturdy oak desk and several intricate tapestries hanging from the walls. To the southeast sits a large fur rug on which several blankets and pillows have been stacked. The rug and pillows have been thrown aside, a large rectangular crack in the floor outlining something hidden. Two iron rungs are driven into the wall to the southwest—the ground underneath spattered with white, chalky bird droppings.
Rayhan follows Nasir into the bookkeeping room. He looks around, not really expecting to find the Scroll openly displayed. "We have not seen the thief yet." he tells Yazi.
ROUND NINE
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Nasir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Rayhan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Monsters: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
(Rayhan, Nasir, Khayal, Yazi, Hajar, Monsters, Bartan)
Peering around the younger woman, Rayhan looked into the room. Seeing no one other than Nasir present, the older man scoffs. "Do they really think to bluff us?" Calling back over his shoulder, he shouted "Friends! I believe they have gone underground!"
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar moves down the stairs
Yazi
|
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
Yazi looks about for a way to open the passageway the lady took, short of just chopping the whole place apart.
Though she might come back for some of those pillows.
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
With a little shimmy and a toss of her head, Nasir shifts her vision into the arcane spectrum, scanning the room for all things magical, as Yazi does a physical search..
Detect Magic
| Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal attempts to activate the lift and head below.
STR check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
If he is able to get below.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Let's find that scroll
Khayal says mentally preparing for what comes below.
| GM_Pace |
(Hajar, the "stairs" are covered by a trapdoor right now. I'll move you into the room.)
The trapdoor Yazi's uncovered has a magical aura. (1st round)
The slaves continue to watch the adventurers.
You manage to untie the slipknot-secured ropes and the large cargo lift falls to the bottom of the underground story almost twenty feet below. Looking down, all you see is the dark chamber away from the lift's edges.
(Khayal and Bartan looking down the shaft, then at each other.)
The crack in the floor under the rugs and pillows outlines a very large trapdoor. But the ring won't budge to lift up the door.
ROUND TEN
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Nasir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Rayhan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Monsters: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Rayhan begins looking down at the found trapdoor, and casting a spell as well.
(Yazi, Monsters, Nasir, Hajar, Bartan, Khayal)
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
"The Trapdoor's magic Yazi. It'll take me a bit to figure out wht kind." Nasir says, her eyes still glowing.
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
"Gods!" the dance exclaims automatically squinting and motioning to partially shield her eyes from the glare that only she can perceive. "The magic here, it's more powerful than anything I've viewed before, overwhelmingly powerful."
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
"I....I'll be okay for now...though I'll probably have a headache for a while but. Whatever is behind that is pretty much god-level or damn close to it." Nasir replies rubbing her temple.
| Hajar nar Jundi |
It is the Scroll. It must be. Hajar says
| GM_Pace |
Baran's pebble shows another level to the warehouse. The one below looks like it is full of boxes, similar to the level you are on.
(See new picture at bottom of Encounter Map. Area highlighted.)
ROUND ELEVEN
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Nasir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Rayhan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Monsters: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
(Khayal, Rayhan, Yazi, Monsters, Bartan, Nasir, Hajar)
| GM_Pace |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36 (36-15 > caster's DC)
Knowledge: Arcana: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25 (More than enough)
"Not to intrude, ladies, but that is an arcane locked trapdoor. I've seen them before, and I'm not surprised by its' intensity." Rayhan says, rubbing his eyes with one hand. "Such locks are not uncommon, especially with a guild known for selling rare and powerful magic items. The only way through an arcane lock is usually by destroying the lock. However..." The old man makes various motions with his hands, uttering arcane words.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 (To those looking with detect magic, the glow fades.)
"There. Now hurry, the lock will only be dispelled for (1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds) a few seconds!" Rayhan urged. (Yes, there is an iron ring with which to lift the trapdoor.)
Yazi
|
Nodding while actually trying to pay attention to what the sage was saying Yazi promptly snaps to attention and grabs the ring to to lift up the door once Rayhan says "hurry".
| Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal jumps down the hole hoping Bartan will follow. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 landing with a thud, Khayal stands back up and looks around. perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar will also follow suit.
| GM_Pace |
(Khayal and Bartan, you could have used a rope, there were several available.)
Khayal, subdual: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Bartan, lethal: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 (And lands prone)
The fighter jumps down to the darkened warehouse sub-floor, but lands awkwardly. The card-tosser tries a standing dive and lands on his face and stomach.
All around you is blackness, the One Source Guild doesn't keep this part of the warehouse lighted, especially at night. You do see some crates and boxes in the magical light.
ROUND TWELVE
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Nasir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Rayhan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Monsters: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
(Bartan, Khayal) (Let's split the party!)
(Monsters, Rayhan, Nasir, Hajar, Yazi)
Rayhan waits until everyone else is down the staircase under the trapdoor, then follows. He stuffs several pillows between the trapdoor and the floor, just in case.
Thunder crashes outside the warehouse, more heat lightning from the sudden summer storm.
(Apologies to those on iPhones - the next map was 10 feet per square, not 5 feet per square, and it's huge. So I had to expand it on the Encounter Map page just to get the proportions right. *shakes fist at lazy artists*)
| GM_Pace |
(The main party is going down the staircase. I forgot that part.)
Those going down via the spiral staircase notice that there is both complete darkness and no indication of how long you'll be going down.
You're going straight down more than 50 feet into the bedrock of the port city. The stairs open up 20 feet down into blackness, but continue downwards.
The odor of gnoll is fresh here. Growing stronger at the bottom of the stairs. There is a faint female human smell, as well as new footprints on the well-worn but sand-covered steps.
The stairs open up 20 feet down into blackness, but continue downwards. The gnoll smell is from the bottom, not at the landing. The female human smell also continues downward.
(Depending upon your movement rate, double move, moving stealthily, etc, going down the stairs could take a couple of rounds.)
Yazi
|
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Yazi sniffs the air as they make to the bottom of the stairs. "I'd recognize the smell of Fluffies anywhere, plus Miss Cock Owner is down here."
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
With an intricate movement of her hands (Think a raver's hand movements) Nasir conjures a quartet of bobbing lights, two of which prceeed them down the stairs, one staing in the middle of the group and the other drifting back to follow behind them.
"We've come down about 50 feet. We should be pretty much at the bedrock of the city now."
Knowledge Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Yazi
|
I originally read that as "raven's" and had a mental image of Nasir flapping her arms XD.
"Wow, well at least it's cool down here." Yazi quips as her eyes gloss over due to the appearance of the dancer's lights.
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar keeps Tempest raised as they continue forward.
They must be keeping the Scroll down here.
| Bartan Harrowborn |
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Remind me not to do that again, my dear Yazi." Bartan says with a huff, as he follows along, watching for baddies. "Now, are there things we need to kill down here?"
