Lady Koralyn Nightstar |

Koralyn readies her bow as she moves with the group towards the tower. Unsure of the choice she warns Such a rune at that might already have inhabitants. Let us be wary.
With Mage armor already cast this morning Koralyn will cast False Life in preparation for the fight as she moves towards the tower and Mirror Image right before the enemy closes. My hope is she can get an arrow or two off before that happens. Also, I am unsure how long the alchemist fire burns. Could it be used to block off at least one of the paths of approach to the ruins? Likely its duration is too short. But what if we had time to drag together some logs and light them?
False Life: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Kierdan |

Kierdan moves with the others toward the ruined tower. As he moves, he readies his shield and mace.
Additionally, he says, I still have one cure potion and one flask of Alchemist's Fire that my friend Varisthas gave us. I'll keep them in my pack for the time being, but, let me know if you want one. I have a feeling we made need them sooner rather than later!

DM Under a Dark Sun |

With little discussion, the group races after Alistair toward the circular ruins.
Up close, the structure appears to be ancient, perhaps Flan in origin, and to have functioned as some form of sundial or other astrological device. Crumbling piles of stone are all that remain of the "hands" of the sundial, and the carvings are too worn to be read.
Grabbing a handful of downed trees and scrub brush, Dragomir and Eldramin drag them close to the ruin, creating crude barricades that won't provide much cover but could hinder movement. Judging from the sounds behind you, you don't have enough time for elaborate preparations, and should make haste to get into position.
I'm having some weather-related connectivity issues and can't upload a new map. In addition to the actions you've already posted, please indicate where you want to position yourselves on the previous map, and I'll work that into tomorrow's post.
Also, RE the alchemist's fire: The rules don't give a duration if you just threw it on the ground, so let's say a flask would light up a 2 square by 2 square area for 3d4 rounds. Anyone passing through the area would have to make a DC 10 Dex save or catch fire.

Eldramin Tarkanan |

i would stay in the general area of Alistair. I, like him, would like to avoid melee, but if something comes to melee one of us, we would be better served with me in melee and him out than vice versa

Kierdan |

Kierdan would prefer to be in the middle of the group, close enough to heal and support the front line fighters, but also close enough to the mages to help them out if something gets through to them.

Lady Koralyn Nightstar |

Koralyn will also try for a middle rank. She can fight in melee, and will, but has other strengths that she can use before she gets into melee.Somewhere where she can have her back to a wall certainly makes sense. Maybe the group should all be in the lower half of the ruin between 5 and 7 on a clock? Hard to tell but it looks like there are good walls there.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

You take positions within the ruined tower, Alistair and Eldramin in the middle. Koralyn and Kierdan take positions closer to the edge of the ruins, with good sight lines along the most likely approaches, while Dragomir and Morten stand just outside the ring of stones, behind the makeshift barricades.
Weapons ready, you react quickly as the first wave of worg-riding goblins leap into view. Clutching shortbows and javelins, the four green-skinned bandits ride slavering wolf-like creatures that howl curses in debased Common. You can hear others following them, fanning out to come at you from either flank.
Goblins: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Alistair: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Dragomir: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Eldramin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Kierdan: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Koralyn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Morten: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Ok, you all had time to cast your spells and make other preparations. Let me know if you don't like the position you're in. Despite losing initiative, I'll give everyone a rounds worth of actions before the goblins act, so you can get off one volley of arrows, etc. as they approach to map range. You wouldn't have clear enough lines of sight to get more than that. So, you're up!

Lady Koralyn Nightstar |

I was thinking we would be a lot closer together. I see no reason to be that spread out. Does anyone?
After loosing initiative Koralyn is forced to use her round to cast Mirror Image.

Eldramin Tarkanan |

As the worg-riders approach, Eldramin summons a ghostly black sword to harass them as they close to melee distance. this was readied earlier, but as distances play out it may not actually happen just yet (depending on their moves) but the plan is to hit the first worg in range
Melee spell atk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
force: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Dragomir Vuk |

Are those stick fortification things really there? If so Dragomir hunches down behind them hoping for some/any cover, otherwise he heads into the tower stairs I see on the map and readies himself to attack

Morten Myhre |

Ahh, i picked a good time to check on this again. The only think Mortan may have done different would have been to find a nice hidey hole to ambush from a little further away from the wall. But I guess that's what I get for neglecting the game.
"See. This is why I like cities. There's always somewhere to lose people in a city..." he mutters to himself as he crouches, soggy and uncomfortable waiting for the goblins and their mounts.
As soon as they come into view he stands, bringing his bow out from the cover of his cloak, pulls back the knocked arrow, and releases at the mount of the first to catch his eye. While the arrow is still in motion he slips the bow onto his pack and shifts his hands to the hafts of his blades as he attempts to fade into the undergrowth, ready for the goblins to close.
Fire, put bow away as he uses his bonus action to hide if at all possible.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10for Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Koralyn: I can move folks closer together, but I tried to give you some room to maneuver for lines of sight, etc.
[ooc]Dragomir and Morten: The "stick fortification things" on the map are piles of brush and downed trees you put together as hasty barricades. They provide cover, so Morten can attack from hiding (and with advantage, if you want to reroll your attack).

Lady Koralyn Nightstar |

I'd rather not have wargs charging through our lines. My thought is that we would all be between 6:00 and 9:00 if the tower was the race of a clock. It seemed like there were good walls defining that quarter.

Kierdan |

Kierdan will move 10' to the south and cast Bless, with Morten, Dragomir and Koralyn as targets. I had to move a little to the south to get Dragomir.
Next, he will ready the extra alchemist fire. He keeps an eye on the gap in the trees to the north and will toss the alchemist fire in that direction, if any goblins come that way.
He has taken his pack off and his shield and mace are ready.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Eldramin, Koralyn and Kierdan mutter spells as the worg-riders charge into view, their prayers and incantations filling the air with crackling energy.
Dragomir takes cover, sword ready for the enemy charge. Morten pops up to sink an arrow into one of the approaching worgs before dropping back into cover himself.
Eldramin's mystical blade slashes out at another but fails to connect.
At a word from the riders, the slavering worgs stop just short of the barriers, allowing the goblins to loose a volley of arrows at Morten and Dragomir. One of the shafts punches through the barricade to spear the half-elf, but the others are tangled in the brush. Morten takes 6 damage from an arrow, despite the +2 AC from cover.
The wolves howl with excitement at the scent of blood, and appear ready to charge the barricades as soon as the goblins let them.

Dragomir Vuk |

I'm out of range to hit it from behind the barrier and I don't want to break cover to have all 4 wolves converge on me... Not sure how readied actions play in 5E but if they do, readied action to attack the first thing that comes within sword range. Gonna trust in magic etc from my companions to decide the next round or two before charging out

Eldramin Tarkanan |

Eldramin fires a bolt of energy at the nearest worg while directing the spectral sword to attack the same worg!

Kierdan continues to concentrate on his Bless spell, the benefits of which Pelor has bestowed upon Morten, Dragomir and Koralyn.
He then calls upon the sacred flame of the Sun Father to smite these minions of darkness, casting Sacred Flame on the goblin directly west of Morten.
sacred flame damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Alistair Orm |

Aiming at the riders on the right side of the tower (near Morton), Alistair chants a slumber spell, hoping to put to sleep at least one of the combatants.
Sleep: 7d8 ⇒ (2, 6, 7, 7, 6, 2, 7) = 37
Cast as a 2nd level spell

Lady Koralyn Nightstar |

Koralyn moves down closer to Dragomir and as needed for a clear shot and casting Scorching Ray, launched three blasts of fire at the enemy. She targets goblin (1 ray) and warg (2 rays) that are second from the bottom.
Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (20) + 5 + (3) = 282d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Confirm Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5

Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (16) + 5 + (1) = 222d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
I hope I am doing Bless and the crit right.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Dragomir and Morten huddle behind the makeshift barricades as spells flash and thunder above their heads.
Kierdan smites the goblin due west of Morten with fire, burning it badly. Korlyn's fiery blasts strike the goblin south of that dead, burning the worg it rode, as well, while Eldramin blasts the southernmost worg with a dark ray of his own.
Alistair's sleep falls seconds later. The northernmost rider and worg drop to the ground, snoring. The scorched rider west of Morten falls asleep, as well, listing to one side before being thrown off. There is a pop as his head strikes the ground, and you don't expect him to get up again.
With two riders dead, the worgs that remain conscious howl in fury and attack. The one west of Morten leaps over the barricade, it's belly exposed as it passes over the waiting half-elf. Landing, it turns and snaps at him with its deadly jaws. Morten gets his readied attack against the worg, with advantage. No opportunity attack, however, because it entered and moved within your threatened area, but didn't try to move out (the only trigger in 5E). Morten takes 7 damage from the worg's bite, unless he manages to kill it with his readied attack.
The other riderless worg advances, snapping at Dragomir, but the big mercenary's armor and quick reflexes save his hide, allowing him to counterattack. Drago can take his readied action as it moves up, but without advantage.
The third worg circles around the barricade, angling behind Dragomir, as its rider snaps off a shot at Koralyn with a shortbow. The missile flies wide.
You hear more worgs drawing close.

Dragomir, don't forget you are under the benefit of a Bless. You can add 1d4 to your to hit or save.
Kierdan continues to concentrate on his Bless spell round 3. Morten, Dragomir and Koralyn receive the blessings of Pelor.
He then, once again, calls upon the sacred flame of the Sun Father to smite the worg leaping over Morten.

Attack-magic: 1d29 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 2

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Dragomir slashes at the leaping worg but fails to connect as it sails past him. Reversing the stroke, he brings his greatsword around in a devastating arc that splits the worg nearly in half, blood flying across the nearby stones.
Eldramin slays the southernmost worg with an eldritch blast to the skull. Its goblin rider lands on his feet, standing just long enough for Koralyn to run it through with her own blade.
Slashing both blades, Morten lands several blows against the worg that attacked him. Kierdan and Alistair concentrate their own fiery spells on the beast, wounding it but failing to take it out of the fight. It snaps at Morten, but the half-elf parries the attack with ease.
More worg-riders emerge at the edges of the clearing, launching arrows and javelins toward the group. An arrow tangles in the brush just short of Dragomir's ribs. Koralyn isn't as lucky - a javelin thrown by a goblin wearing a skull helm slips past the careful web of her spinning blade, lodging deep in her thigh. A lucky roll hits Koralyn for 9 points of damage, despite her increased AC.
Another goblin, clad in a heavy fur cloak, stands in its stirrups and casts a spell that causes its club to glow with a pulsing like. Grunting, it seems to command the worgs and goblins around it, urging them forward. The brown goblin is the "worg-caller" you heard about earlier. Those of you trained in Arcana or Religion suspect he's using druidic magic.

Dragomir Vuk |

Dragomir takes cover again and waits for the enemy to close... though he briefly considered a charge against the shaman, the distances and the likelyhood of being the sole target are to great a barrier.

DM Under a Dark Sun |

Alistair and Kierdan slay the wounded worg near Morten with holy and arcane fire, as Eldramin and Koralyn concentrate fire on the armored goblin approaching from the south.
Neither the bladesinger's arrow nor the warlock's eldritch blast strike the target, the spectral blade Eldramin summoned earlier slices the goblin, eliciting a howl of pain.
Morten and Dragomir hunker down behind the barricades again, ready for a charge.
At the sharp command, the worg riders leap forward. The shaman's chanting echoes behind them as he casts a spell. More familiar with such sorcery, Koralyn and Eldramin ward themselves against the spell, but Dragomir is suddenly outlined in heatless purple flames.
Two of the worg riders, including the armored champion, swarm Dragomir. Swinging his blade protectively, Dragomir manages to keep the wolves at bay. The goblins get past his guard a few times, but there slim blades inflict little more than scratches against his heavy armor. After accounting for his armor mastery feat, Dragomir takes 1 whole point of damage! He can also use his readied action to attack one of the attackers.
Morten dodges another arrow as the rider approaching his own position takes a final shot before dropping his bow and drawing a blade.
