Erethyn Dreyer |

Erethyn had tried to speak a few times but had always been cut off by his companions comments first. Finally seeing an opening he attempted to smooth things over.
"My companions mean to say that there is skill alone cannot compensate for over-eagerness and poor planning. As you saw, the five of us barely made it out of there when we were together. While you were down one-third of your strength before you even got to where we were forced to turn back. The place is dangerous no matter who you are. I hope this has been a learning experience for us all."

GM Fanguar |

Terrible manners folks. That's Auric, the current champion of the Greyhawk arena and one of the greatest swordsmen of the land. Fortunately for you he falls on the good side of the alignment spectrum. If they really wanted what you are about to get from the cairn, they would just take it from you, easily.
The spell doesn't revive Khellek and Auric slings him over one shoulder. "You should watch your mouth, 'cuz I'm getting pretty tired of your yapping. We've gotten through plenty of this place and have been busing ourselves with removing the bodies of the fallen expedition members so that they can be decently buried. If Tirra hadn't been so damned eager, we'd be done and gone and if you all hadn't been so damned secretive we could have just worked together. But whatever, I'm done with you lot. Have fun and try not to die."
With that Auric heads back out of the cairn.

Travigan Frost |

As the two swordsman come into view once more, Travigan's veins bulge in his neck as he prepares for the coming fight. "Ye giant, no-nuthin' fartbags! Remember us? Well we're back and you..." He trails off with a litany of insults and uncivil descriptions as he roars a threat at the pair of warriors, though his ire seems focused on the northern one. He stomps forward alongside Ulfak as he levels his threats, positioning himself to put his axe to good use shortly.

"Travigan, swing an' get clear." Ratchet says readying another bomb.
Delaying for Travigan to back up out of the blast range.
Fire damage from last round's hit: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Travigan Frost |

Fanguar, I think you have Ratchet and Ulfak's positions swapped on the map =P
Travigan grunts as the unblinded warrior slices into his side. With a wild-eyed glare, he tries to bring his axe crashing down on his oppenent's head. After his swing, he fades back a step at Ratchet's instruction, providing the dwarf with a clearer shot at their foes.

Ulfak Niarka |

Yeah, I thought we were all at the other end of the walkway with Ulfak, since they attack when we first step on. We don't need to go further than the first five feet of the walkway and Ratchet needs to get a shot with his bombs.

Ulfak Niarka |

I have no idea how to move us on the map, but Travigan and Ulfak should be at the other end of their walkway. Remember that Ulfak occupies four squares so no one can be next to him. If this were at a table it would be easy. If we had numbered squares I could give more info but the best I can do is describe that Travigan and Ulfak occupy the end of the walkway. Ratchet is next to us, probably Ulfak so he can throw bombs directly.

Ulfak Niarka |

Second Round, Initiative 17
enlarge person, longstrider, magic fang, magic weapon and shield of faith running. AC17, +1 scythe +6 (2d6+7) and +1 bite +6 (1d6+5), Ref+1
Ulfak swings the scythe upwards and aims for the chest of the nearest warrior to Travigan. As he starts to spin outwards his jaws snap into the face of the same one.

Ulfak Niarka |

Did they still bear the wounds from our previous fight, DM?
Ulfak manages a sneering and gritty smile at Travigan as the first warrior disappears then he attempts to decapitate the other with his teeth and scythe. There is an element of pack mate in that wolfish grin.
+1 scythe 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 6) + 7 = 19, and his magical bite 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, damage 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7 Here's hoping a 17 hits!

Travigan Frost |

He's blind, so he should be flat footed. Plus, if I recall correctly, him being blind is treated as if you were invisible, which grants you a bonus to hit as well. So, I think your 17's have a really good chance of hitting, Ulfak!
Travigan shoots Ulfak a grin of his own as he hefts his axe overhead and brings it crashing down.

GM Fanguar |

@Ulfak: You wish...but as a 17 does hit a blind WW , it hardly matters
With all your attention focused on the lone remaining elemental, it quickly falls beneath the combined fury of your assaults and explodes into a shower of dust motes.
Combat is over. The WW basically disintegrate so there is no loot from them.

Travigan Frost |

Travigan chuckles to himself as the second warrior falls. "Whew. Glad ta be done wi' them. Hah. Ho. Ah, whew." He stows his axe and bends over, placing his hands on his knees and breathes heavily for a bit, the red in his cheeks and forehead gradually fading as he catches his breath. He laughs and points to the other side of the chamber as he turns to the others, the hint of a laugh bouncing in the tone of his voice, "Well then, are we headin' further in now or are you young pups jus' gonna stand there lookin' smug?"

Ulfak Niarka |

Ulfak moves to the central air column and looks up and down to see where the wind warriors came from. The shaman looks hard at the base below.
Perception check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17, Have we gathered all the info off the wall pictures chaps? DM F I believe the wind warriors came from below, is that correct?

Erethyn Dreyer |

Ack, sorry about that. I've actually looked at this twice now and both times I had to run. Sorry again for the delay.
Erethyn carefully wanders around the outside of the central column. He is once again examining the murals for anything they did not have time for in the past.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Adding in detect magic, if necessary.

GM Fanguar |

Going over to the central column of air that the wind warriors from, you find that anything placed in it slowly rises upwards. With the shrug, Ratchet steps into the column. He hangs suspended, his cloak snapping around him, and then begins to slowly rise up towards the hole in the ceiling. When he (and anyone else who follows) pokes through the hole he finds a small rectangular room dominated by the whooshing pillar of air.
Opposite the pillar, up a set of three short stairs, rests a white marble sarcophagus identical to the one in the room with the colored lanterns far below, complete with a sculpted humanoid figure carved into the lid. A beautifully carved bas-relief on the wall near the sarcophagus depicts the same figure as a bald, androgynous warrior wearing a simple ancient garment and wielding a shining spear.
To the warrior’s left stands a cloaked demoniac figure with two long curved horns tipped in darkest red. The horned figure holds a device composed of a handle and small loop, seemingly using it to control a globe of absolute blackness about two feet in diameter. This globe touches the bald warrior, who raises his arms in surprise. The warrior is depicted as if fading from sight. A slim diadem upon his brow bears an elaborate ovular glyph identical to one carved upon an amulet worn by the figure on the sarcophagus lid.
The black globe on the fresco is a sphere of annihilation controlled by the talisman of the sphere wielded by the horned figure

Travigan Frost |

Travigan looses a low whistle as his feet set down in the small rectangular room. "Well, this is quite a tomb!" He looks around the room with bald fascination, going so far as to trace his calloused fingers over the features on the sarcophagus' lid. "I don' really know what I was expectin' we'd find, but I know it wasn'a this. I've never seen anythin' o' the like!"

Travigan Frost |

Travigan starts as the bas-relief animates. "Uhh..." He scratches his beard and looks at Erethyn before turning back to the sarcophagus. With a shrug he says, "Icosiol?"

Erethyn Dreyer |

Erethyn took his time, examining the room with the sarcophagus. He had never seen anything quite like it before.
When the figure in the bas-relief began speaking, Erethyn stepped back, preparing to react in case things went bad. He nodded to Travigan but said nothing more.

GM Fanguar |

The figure smiles and settles back into the wall. A bright blue light begins to shine around the sarcophagus and fades a few moments later, Where once the sarcophagus seemed to almost be carved of a single block of marble, now a deep seem where the lid meets the base can clearly be seen.
With a grunt of effort, Travigan slides the sarcophagus lid over enough to peer in. There is no corpse inside, but you do see several items arranged with reverence.:
A slight, tarnished silver diadem inscribed with Zosiel's personal glyph.
Circlet of wisdom +2
Two long slightly curved black horns with red tips.
A pewter box inscribed with alien writhing letterforms. The metal holding the box together has melted in the past making the box sealed.
The Glyphs are those of the Miska the wolf-spider, demon queen of chaos.
And with that, the whispering cairn comes to a close. Welcome to level 3

Rollibard "Ratchet" Piper |

"So the body's gone then. Somethin' tells me that ain't good." Ratchet says with a shake of his head.
"Elf, what d'ye make o' these?' he said gesturing with his cigar toward the treasures in the sarcophagus.
