Erethyn Dreyer
Erethyn looked around at all the exits from the room. "It seems this place holds a great deal of secrets. To my understanding, the clergy's might not get along, but I was not aware of any true enmity between them. Hextor has a long list of enemies, but Vecna is not one..."
He glanced the the two dead guardsman. " I think we may need to move quickly however. The doors to the north and east have hopefully blocked the sound of our combat, but the open tunnel west will have carried those sounds. Any way we go will have it's own benefits and drawbacks. I'm inclined to go northward. I believe we may find more answers there."
GM Fanguar
Interesting...
Heading through the northern passage way, you see that the tunnel that connects to the elevator chamber appears to be man made, but quickly connects with a natural stone passage heading deeper into the earth. There are no light sources and the endless dark extends seemingly forever before you.
After what seems like an eternity, the passage opens up into a larger cavern filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The rocky projections make it difficult to see very far ahead, as they choke most of the cave. A steady rhythmic splash of water dripping into some unseen pool echos unnervingly.
Light matters in this section and will be (loosely) enforced. Please let me know where and what the sources of light are.
Erethyn Dreyer
Erethyn looked around at the large cavern. A look of increasing worry on his face.
I had thought for sure we'd have come across something else. Though the natural outcroppings of this cave make it difficult to see very far.
He looked to his companions before whispering. "I'm starting to think I may have misjudged this area. But we have no idea how far this goes. I would like to try something first. It may lure out potential dangers."
With that, he drew an arrow, focused a point of light on it, drew back on his bow and fired into the darkness ahead.
Erethyn is firing an arrow with light on the end to see how far this cavern goes. If anyone would like to stop him, he won't object.
GM Fanguar
Sorry for the delay. Busy week. Mapless is a go!
Erethyn's arrow clatter's amongst the stalactites and stalagmites of the chamber. It echos eerily before fading from hearing. Just when you think the way is clear, several humanoid individuals step into the light. Mostly naked, they have crude stone weapons at hand and look as though they mean to use them. You notice with horror that they don't have any eyes and each creature has sharp stones sewn into its bare chest in an intricate pattern.
It is the symbol of Erythnul, the god of hate, envy, malice, panic, ugliness, and slaughter.

Holy crud. Look at those saving throws. >.<
Ratchet grunts and staggers back under the heavy blow. [b']"F~##!"[/b]
Adjusting back he pulled a clay orb from a reinforced pouch on his bandoleer and threw it into the creature's face.
The clay burst releasing an expanding mass of rapidly hardening sticky foam that looked like a rubbery dark grey pumice after a few moments.

One is glued to the floor and the other is puking its guts out. Going to call it
Ratchet's alchemical concoctions carry the day and you quickly overwhelm the brutes. Searching the corpses you find little of value, but one of the stones sewn into a chest turns out to be an uncut gem (100gp).
Easing forward, you push past the stalactites and find that a natural tunnel exits the back of the cave. You can hear the occasional yip and growl echoing up from the darkness beyond.
Rollibard "Ratchet" Piper
Ratchet kicked the corpse of the grimlock that had cut him and took a joyless swig off his flask. His wounds began to close up. In spite of his success in the fight he didn't seem any more satisfied than he had been when they first entered.
He picked up the gem with hardly a glance at it, stuffing it into his pocket. Such disregard for a precious stone was practically sacrilege for a self respecting dwarf, but Ratchet was clearly to angry to care. He didn't say anything. He simply waited for Travigan or Ulfak to lead the group further into the mine.
CLW extract: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Travigan Frost
"Told ye." Travigan rolls his right shoulder as the grimlock he struck collapses. With the others dealt with in short order, he lets the anger drain away as he wearily leans against a stalagtite for a few moments. Once he feels himself, he pushes off the stony pillar and hefts his axe, "Let's keep goin' then, right?" He turns and begins to follow the light shining from the lantern clipped to his belt into the pressing darkness.

Creeping down a short tunnel, you enter into a much larger space. On the far side of this shelf, the floor drops away into darkness. The thick, cloying stench of wet cat hangs in the air. As your light illuminates the area, your gaze falls on another on of these blind monsters, this time garbed in armour, with a thick hide cloak thrown over his shoulders. In one hand he holds an large axe, the other a fist full of leashes attached to three large feline-like animals. At your approach, he roars a challenge and releases the cords.

Ratchet will delay. Even though the cloud is clear now the ones that failed there saves are still going to be sickened for another 1d4+1 rounds. If the uglies managed to get un-sickened before the others kill them, he'll take an action then.

Erethyn eyed Ratchet as he lit up a cigar. He was about to start lecturing him about the damage smoke inhalation could cause, but then thought better of it. He was, after all, a Dwarf.
"Yes, better we finish them with our more conventional arms." Erethyn said, leveling another shot at their attackers.

Bah, let just call the combat.
With their guts heaving, the enemies are unable to put up much resistance and you quickly dispatch them.
The ledge ends at a great pit that drops down into darkness. Crude iron spikes have been driven into the cliff face offering you a convenient path downward. The shaft;s roof is fifteen feet above the cliff's edge. Jagged stalactites hang from the ceiling.
Travigan Frost
Travigan snatches up the axe and after testing it's weight and balance nods approvingly.
---
Travigan glances down into the deepening dark and shines his lantern down the cliff face, then turns his gaze and light back up at the stalactites looming ominously overhead. He grunts as he regards the stony growths, "If one o' them things came down while yer climbin' tha'd be a sure way ta have yer day ruined."

Ulfak or Travigan, one of you should take the bow. If we run into something that flies or fight somewhere that it is hard to close the distance, it will be handy to have.
Ratchet squints. "So far most o' the stuff down here hasn't had eyes, an' we ain't exactly been quiet. Those dog things just now made a lot o' racket. Anyone who's payin attention knows we're here. Anyone have any objection to me lightin' the place up a bit?"
He twirled a short brass colored metal rod in his stubby fingers and pulled out what looked like a suped up version of a child's slingshot.
Erethyn Dreyer
"None at all, master Dwarf. By all means bring more light to this place." As he speaks, he takes off his backpack and begins to rummage through it. Removing a water skin, he takes a drink before replacing it.
"Alright, let's move downward."
