Quick reply: someone mentioned potions of lesser restoration. Great idea! But Jorgan can cast it so it's more cost effective to get a scroll with a few copies on it for now.

We're heading back up to Wisconsin today now that we're done with my sister's wedding; the last kid to be married off. It was better than expected but my brother and I kept waiting for the big soap opera/romantic comedy moment when her high school friend that we much preferred to her actual groom would declare his undying love in front of the whole assembly and she would run out of the ceremony to reconsider.

That definitely would have been interesting and gutsy

Yeah, I'm thinking about the Marathon group (which I think has had mutiple deaths in books 1 and 2). I also read a review somewhere that said it was deadly.

If you want some laughs, check out the Giantslayer Obituary Thread. It only has two, but both are from Book 1, so there shouldn't be any spoilers for events to come for us.

Regarding 2 wands of CLW: We currently have 4 wands (though most are nearly spent). I think we might want to hold off on purchasing the second new wand and get some scrolls to spread around the casters instead. My suggestion would be 2 lesser restoration and 3 cure moderate wounds for those times when we might really need quick emergency healing.

Regarding the Loot Sheet: It looks like the items for sale have been calculated at full gp value (rather then a lesser gp amount that seems normal for selling loot in a lot of games, sometimes adjusted for diplomacy or merchant skills). @GM: what sort of value should we be getting?

You guys also had a 5th person and a whole extra healing wand purchase which saved you more than once. I feel for a heavy caster group or even worse for a group with no magic against those Shadow Rats. That catapult could have very easily turned into a death also if the damage roll was just a little higher.

Skreed also could have turned even worse with die rolls. If the wolves kept 2-3 people tripped. If you had not taken care of the troll it would have joined Skreed on his fight.

And can't help but think that the early saves vs Sleep caused a chain reaction on us burning through more resources early on that kept us on fumes for the rest of the fights.

Lots of things could have been different...but mostly it was all fun.

Regarding Sales/Purchases here are additional items I suggest we sell:

armor ointment x3 (30gp each for -1 armor check is lame) 90gp
scroll of ghostbane dirge (as a scroll the DC sucks, and we have magic weapons now anyway) 150gp
campfire bead (the one time we might have used this didn't pan out. I have a character with one in a tabletop game and it has never been used in 3+ years of gaming.) 720gp
mwk cold iron falchion 450gp
mwk morningstar 308gp
mwk flail 308gp

This would help a lot towards armor and personalized weapons.

I have one still and it is reusable! (Campfire Bead!) So no need to spend! Also, we got a Mwk CI Falchion, no need to buy!

It was just a suggestion. :)

Kraygan is buying a masterwork dwarven waraxe, so his morningstar is sort of an expensive secondary weapon, and I'm just thinking we might want to get a little more gold to buy a couple scrolls of lesser restoration since our party funds were pretty much exhausted with the haversack and 1 wand of CLW.

I added a note to the Loot Sheet and updated the Group Sales amount. With the extra giant weapons and armor we have 2750 more gold to work with.

So, should we get some armor, another wand, or a few scrolls, then divide up the remainder?

In character, Wren doesn't think he's going on any traipsing around the woods to attack a giant stronghold...so Wren isn't quite ready to discuss buying stuff. I'm sure he'll come around...eventually.

Out of character, Wren does need a new bow (darkwood composite longbow). If we're going out, another 2 wands of CLW would be advisable.

Wren is happy to buy the bow when he knows he's going out (and assuming he has the money).

Any of you guys play through the entire Dragon's Demand Module that can explain the 4th Chronicle.

In the instructions it states:

Players who play through the entire module (not just
the sanctioned portions) using the alternate play option
detailed above and apply all three Chronicle sheets to the
same Pathfinder Society character earn a fourth Chronicle
sheet that must also be applied to that character.

I get that the player gets the fourth chronicle only if they applied the other three to the same exact character but when you look at the chronicle there is a Subtier set up on it.

What question I have is how do you determine the subtier for it when they create and use all new characters strictly just for the Module? Since to get the fourth chronicle you are unable to use PFS characters but can still apply credit towards the character Once you determine the subtier then do they earn the extra gold on the fourth chronicle along with an additional +4 Prestige Points? Or am I missing something on this one?

I have tried looking all over the forums for an answer to this one and found nothing as of yet. I am sure someone else has ran into this fourth chronicle before.

Silvermane/Hopespring from Player's Guide:
A mute elven druid, whose weathered features mark his age as venerable even for his timeless race, quietly watches over the spring and its reservoir, though what purpose his quiet contemplation serves is anyone’s guess. Dubbed Silvermane by the townsfolk, he has resided on this hill and slept near the spring since before the town was settled. He rarely communicates with anyone, but on occasion has been seen conversing with Halgra via some form of sign language. He generally holds himself aloof from the town’s proceedings, yet the few occasions upon which he performs magic— healing a dying child or calling lightning down on raiders— earn him respect from most residents, albeit mixed with questions regarding his inscrutable motives. The most common rumor is that he’s the only survivor of the Council of Thorns, a fierce druidic circle whose members ended their lives with the prodigious blood rite that gave Ghostlight Marsh its name.

Wren's Knowledge of the Ghostlight and Vault of Thorns:

Ghostlight Lantern: This brass bullseye lantern is embossed with dancing orbs flitting amid a leaf-and-holly motif. A ghostlight lantern
functions as a normal bullseye lantern, but if the remains of a dead will-o’-wisp are placed inside it, the lantern gains additional abilities. The dead will-o’-wisp powers the lantern for a period of 1 week, during which time the lantern sheds a bluish-white light without the need for oil as fuel. Creatures within the 60-foot cone of the lantern’s normal light are outlined with a pale, bluish glow, as faerie fire. Orcs within the cone are dazzled, as if in bright sunlight, for as long as they remain within the light. Additionally, three times per day as a standard action, the wielder of a ghostlight lantern can draw upon the power of the deceased will-o’-wisp fueling it to cast shocking grasp. Lastly, while within the bounds of Ghostlight Marsh in the Hold of Belkzen, a ghostlight lantern unerringly emits a beacon that illuminates a direct path to the circle of standing stones that form the entrance to the Vault of Thorns. After 1 week, the power of the deceased aberration is exhausted, and the ghostlight lantern loses its additional abilities, once again functioning only as a normal bullseye lantern until another dead will-o’-wisp is placed inside.

Vault of Thorns: Ghostlight Marsh is a vast tract of swampland along the shores of the River Esk. The current border between the Hold of Belkzen and Lastwall runs through the swamp. Both orcs and humans avoid the marsh due to countless tales of strange, floating lights.

Lastwall’s northern border with Belkzen has been pushed back multiple times over the centuries. When the second of these borders, Harchist’s Blockade, was overrun by the orcs, some stood resolute, seeing themselves as protectors of the land. The Council of Thorns, a militant druid circle who despised the orcs’ defilement of the land the creatures conquered, attempted to stand their ground. While the druids’ fight was valiant, the Council of Thorns was eventually driven back to the swamp and defeated by the orcs.

Faced with sure defeat at the hands of the conquering orcs, the druids of the Council of Thorns made a final stand in the swamp, sacrificing themselves in a bloody ritual. As the druids’ dying bodies slumped into the muck, vengeful willo’-wisps rose from the marsh and drove the orc army out of the swamp. These cruel and capricious aberrations have guarded Ghostlight Marsh from intrusion ever since.

The will-o’-wisps of Ghostlight Marsh are actually the reincarnated druids of the Council of Thorns, who still remember their former lives.

I agree I would like to be able to play all of the classes to their strengths and not have to resource to using spell slots for healing unless absolutely necessary.

I believe you only had to resort to those measures due to how far the book strung out the group with back to back difficult battles and not giving any sort of healing throughout the book.

But we will adjust as necessary since the whole purpose is to have fun and be challenged. :)

Re: lesser restoration: Jorgan knows this spell although a potion or two would be a good idea.

I don't mind casting the occassional healing spell, especially for the much-needed healing blast during critical times of combat. I just don't want to burn all my spells on healing each day so I can have a few to buff or summon. Jorgan is pretty flexible in his ability to support with spells or wade in with Hops to hack and smash.

Yeah, I calculated incorrectly. I don't use HeroLab.

Arrows in the core rule book are sold in batches of 20 for 1gp. 50 comes out to 2.5gp, and silver adds +2gp for each.

40 silver arrows should be 82gp

@GM: is there any individual magical arrows available for purchasing in Trunau?

Are you talking like +1 arrow (5) instead of a full stack? What are you looking for? The town unfortunately does not have any singles listed. Though we may be able to work something out as it will sell full bundles.

Yes, I meant lower numbers then standard bundles, but now that I think about it, I don't have any particular type of magic arrows in mind, and I am not sure we could afford them anyway. If anyone else has suggestions for this, go ahead.

Yea. we may be able to work something out. I think the whole bundle deal is a bit goofy. I understand it for PFS to help limit it but if the vendor is willing to sell an entire bundle then why can't they just break one apart to individually sell the arrows/bolts. Either way you are spending the same gold.

Ok everyone, I'm trying to sort out and clean up the loot list to make it easier to work with. I updated the sale items with those I suggested above and I've moved a few things around and added dates to previous sales and such to avoid confusion. I also added a "Group Sales" subtotal at the bottom of each column for both "Armory" and "Storhouse" and updated the Group Sales figure on Sheet 1.

There are still a few items listed that I think we may have used, mainly the alchemist fires and acid. I think we used all our acid, and I believe that we only had 1 alchemist fire left (and in Wren's possession) after all the shadow rats.

I suggest that everyone who is buying items list them on Sheet 1 along with either individual gold prices or a total gold figure. I have created one for Kraygan, as well as for Wren and Torgan with the items they have listed here (Wren, there is a cost applied to your personal gold from a week ago that I can't account for).

+1 for the new loot formatting. I recognize that all groups account differently and I'm getting acclimated to the form. Usually, I keep a running tally of purchases in the OOC that accounts for stuff. Example.

Yes, Wren had some charges. About 492.5 or so, and I marked them as best I could on the sheet.

I'll start using red font to type in my notes, so it's clear what I have edited. I don't want to screw up the sheet, but also want to minimize confusion.

It looks like you are close to being done shopping so I will push forward tonight or in the morning depending on how the RP is shaping up.
Ayep. Trying to slow play this to give Jorgs and Vandy time to RP and shop.

Jorgan already did his shopping earlier; he doesn't need much until Hops can wear armor and then he'll need some really fancy barding for the AC-so-low-you-can't-miss yak. (Although he'll be Large-sized after a while so hopefully he can survive until then.)

Jorgan is also ready to move on. Sorry I've been a bit scant on the RP during the interim here but it just happened to coincide with two wedding weekends in a row (which required driving back to Indiana both times) and DNA-extraction-season in the lab, which is a very busy time for everyone but especially me since I got put in charge of that initiative for some reason :/

I added Jorgan's purchases to the Loot List, but did not deduct them yet (as I'm unsure if he already did so).

@Vanderhoff: when you complete your shopping feel free to just list it here and I'll manage the Loot List accounting if you want.

I haven't touched the loot list so they have not been deducted from there; I just made a note somewhere above in this thread.

I start a new show tomorrow that might restrict my ability to post. I still hope to get at least one out per day, but it might be slower at times.

Sorry, got in late from out of town, and have had some sort of bug.

I will have purchases listed in a couple hours.

Likely just some mwk weapons, and maybe an armor upgrade.
