Scrolls to Wren so he can write them in his book and Wands to?
Jorgan Steelkeg |
Sure, Jorgan will take the scimitar. Although it's not an axe....
The leather armor could probably be sold. I don't think anybody will be wearing it. Too bad it's not barding, we could slap it on Hops....
Kraygan Steelkeg |
Kraygan has Wren's old bow, so I'm thinking he should probably carry 2 or 3 orc bane arrows, just in case.
Also, this curse is awful. It would not be great to take on the Fort with it. Any options for getting rid of it? Maybe at Castle Firrine?
GM Tyranius |
There is a possibility :). I will post later tonight. In bed with the flu.

Wren can also minimize it a bit, if you're willing to accept a bit of Elfoism.
Wren is taking 7 orc banes, 3 to Kraygan.
Kraygan Steelkeg |
@GM: the weekends are always slow. Take your time, rest, and get well.
@Wren: That would definitely help, but Kraygan doesn't like the idea of being a burden on his companions. Or depending on elf magic to be bad@ss. ;)

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Heh.
Despite the snark, you make an interesting observation.

Update:
Soooo the computer repair place was about to replace the power jack and they called up to tell me that my motherboard was so corroded that even if they replaced the jack they couldn't guarantee that the laptop would last for more than a few more months before it completely died. Yada, yada, yada, the repairs were too expensive considering I'm getting a new one for the holidays when they go on sale so I decided not to do the repairs. Luckily my father-in-law has a spare laptop he can lend me for the next couple months until I get my new one.
Sorry for the slow posting. Laptop dying combined with the busiest semester of my career (I hope) has just really killed my ability to post the past few weeks.
GM Tyranius |
It's cool. Real life comes first. :)
Jorgan Steelkeg |
Good news! The loaner laptop came in the mail today! That means I will be able to post outside of work hours more easily now so my posting rate should rise back to normal. Sorry I've been pretty quiet in all of my games the past couple weeks but I'm often too busy to post from my desktop at work and posting from a phone/tablet is a pain.
Anyways, I thought Wren might share my woes in having one or two troublesome PFS PbPers who are more interested in rolling virtual dice. In one game I had to ask for a description and then again I had to warn the same problem player that I wasn't going to accept empty posts. To be fair, the others have been pretty decent in that game except for the one player who posts no more than one line of basic description now. In another game I had to make the same warning to the players but they caught on right away and everyone's post quality improved noticeably after I said something.
Jorgan Steelkeg |
I don't think I've ever played with him before. But then again I play with a lot of different people through PFS PbP so if I did, he didn't stand out enough for me to remember him. I try to pay attention to the good posters and remember them.
I mean, just look at the posting history for that character. It's pathetic. Nothing longer than one line and several posts with just a die roll. I've run into a few players like that and it frustrates the crap out of me.
Vanderhoff Steelkeg |
Checking his profile, I realize now why I recognize the name. (Previously a VC and a 5 star GM). Looking at his campaign history, it looks like he hasn't been playing PbP for very long? Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he is used to RL games and just needs to read through Pain's Guide(s) and some coaching? (Despite having very few inactive/past campaigns, he looks like he has jumped in headfirst @ 18 active games?)
Torgan Steelkeg |
Not sure if I've played with him, but I can feel the pain of players posting single lines of text or just dice rolls for the entire scenario.
Also, who could possibly start out playing/GMing PbP into like 18 games?! [/sarcasm][/whistle]
Wren. |
I like that you've gotten into PbP. In fact it seems you've thrown yourself into it. You probably know that I love it. It's an amazing format for deeply roleplaying your character, exploring avenues of character and depth even if one is playing PFS.
I'm going to challenge you to play better PbP. I'm going to challenge you to put more into the format so you get more out. I want you to produce quality posts each time, with hooks and descriptions. Put in your character's feelings and describe your actions with each die roll.
I want you to RP like each of your characters has a reason to exist...and you're telling their story with words. Roleplay to expand and explore your characters.
You got this.
-Pain
Jorgan Steelkeg |
Awesome! Hopefully that will kick some role-playing into him.
Also, hey! Look at me posting outside of work hours, eh? Pretty nice! I should start doing this more often, lol.
GM Tyranius |
Awesome! Congrats on the new loaner.
Jorgan Steelkeg |
Hey all!
As usual, I am keeping up with GMing the new PFS scenarios but rather than open this one to the public, I thought I would offer the next one to this group first. So if you are interesting in playing The Blakros Connection, check in here!

Awesome! I'll check in shortly when I get home. Actually had to do some work today.
Now, how do we talk Painlord into joining?

Do we have a spot for Crispy? Aka Tonya's hubby and his first forays into PbP?

I'll be in today, Chris (aka Crispy) will be in on Sunday.
Edit: He posted while I was posting here. He's a freakin' ninja, be warned.

+1 to the loot list updater. Thank you.
I look at the loot list and it appears we don't have much to sell...just the leather armor? Anything else to sell?
Invisibility or flying things might help in our assault. Might be tough to get you dwarves to climb a freakin' wall, huh?
Doubt we'll have enough time to set up a winch and pulley system to get Vanderhoff over. /end elfsnark
Torgan Steelkeg |
Chris already checked in. :D
Updated the loot list and still need some guidance on how much the cudgel and crown are worth.
If we sell the leather armor and the wands, then we got about 2500 GP to spend.
Kraygan Steelkeg |
Thanks for working on the Loot List.
I don't know if Wren has a plan for the Flaming Sphere wand (it could be useful in a Fort to clog up hallways or create diversions), but I think we should probably sell the Greater Magic Fang wand.

No plans for the Flaming Sphere. Have enough bloody flamin' dwarves around here already.
Kraygan Steelkeg |
I was looking back through our recent posts for the whole riverboat trip and I think we have some things that are unaccounted for.
From Melira:
Mithral Chain Shirt
Mwk Short Sword
From the orcs at the waystation:
3 suits Studded leather
3 Falchions
From the river drake:
Mwk Heavy Pick
From older loot, I'm convinced we should sell the mwk cold iron falchion. We had a big encounter where we could have used it, but didn't. It's more valuable as potions or another weapon.
We also have Wren's old mwk darkwood composite longbow to sell.
GM Tyranius |
Yup updating now.
Thanks Torgan I have been slacking :)
GM Tyranius |
Alright. Loot List should all be updated. It looks like 460 gp (92 ea) needs to be added to the gold portion of the spreadsheet. Not quite sure where I need to input that and don't want to jack up a formula lol.
Thanks again for jumping on that Torgan :)
The crown is worth 250 gp
The cudgel is worth 150 gp
Kraygan Steelkeg |
I made a list of all the items I think we should sell off from the loot list. I've priced all equipment at the standard 50%, but calculated gems and art objects at full.
Mwk cold iron falchion 225
+1 leather armor 580
Mwk heavy pick 154
Mithril shirt 550
Mwk shortsword 155
Studded leather x4 50
Falchion x5 187.5
Javelin x8 4
Spiked gauntlet x4 10
Mwk chain shirt 100
Wand of flaming sphere 405
Wand of greater magic fang 1350
Bloodstone 50
Gem-encrusted Cudgel 150
Ironwood crown with a stylized thorn motif 250
-Subtotal: 4,220.5
Personal request: I didn't list the wand of cat's grace - I think we should keep it. If we get into a ranged fight (or need to jump a 2 foot gap) it could prove very useful on the dexterity-challenged dwarves.
Also, Kraygan will pass the helm for donations for Torag.
Wren. |
Thanks Kraygan!
+500 gp to Torag (100 from each of us) for fixing Kraygan.
+250 gp to Torag (50 from each of us) for fixing Ingahild
+250 gp more if Torag will keep Ingahild on retainer/work
That's about half our monies (after sales), but consider it good value for what we're giving up: curses, insanity, and superfluous dwarves.
Kraygan Steelkeg |
I've sold off loot, made donations, and dispersed gold to everyone on the loot sheet.
Kraygan is planning on buying a masterwork composite longbow (+4 str), cold iron arrows, some ale, and perhaps a couple more cure light wounds potions.
Kraygan had Wren's old mwk darkwood composite longbow, but I've put it in Wren's shopping column as a potential SELL item, which could give him an additional 215gp.
I think we're still good for healing wands, but does anyone have any suggestions for items the group might want to invest in?
Wren. |
As I noted earlier, the dwarves might need to scale walls or the like. If you need something to prepare for such, please make it so.
It's possible too to see if anyone at our current fort has ever been to our intended destination. That might help us prep.
I'm fine with the sales.
Kraygan Steelkeg |
@Vanderhoff: do you want to enchant your hammer yourself or just buy an enchanted one? If we pool our gold we could afford one for you.
Regarding climbing: we have ropes and grapple, but maybe we should buy a potion or scroll (or both) of spider climb and levitate?
It also occurs to me that Jorgan can cast spider climb already if he prepares it.
Vanderhoff Steelkeg |
Fine.
Based on Wren's recommendation, Van will purchase:
potion of spider climb 300 gp
elixir of tumbling 250 gp
scroll of align weapon 150 gp
scroll of sound burst 150 gp
scroll of lesser restoration x2 300 gp
Total:
300 + 250 + 150 + 150 + 300 = 1150
Edit: @ Kraygan: Hadn't thought about enchanting myself, though Van can use scared weapon to make his weapon +1, so will hold off for the time being.

Wren. wrote:Lets go, you beardbearers. Approve our sales, donations, etc. in the OOC and let's move on.What!?!? Wren was the one who initiated this line of questioning about Ingrahild, the Vault, and the hags! Now that all the dwarves have jumped on board, your ready to move on? Sheesh! Make up your mind. Your as bad asmy wifeIngrahild before being cured!
Oh for the love of beardtrimmers and the order they bring to hipsters all!
I posted the above in the OOC on Sunday, about how much to tip Torag and I didn't hear a peep for or against. It was like all y'all dwarves where doing the dinosaur-armed reach for your coin purse when the bill was laid down on the table. Still no one has agreed or disagreed on it.
Also, note, that the purchases came after I posted that bump...
/me grumbles to himself
Kraygan Steelkeg |
Actually, I accounted for the 750gp you suggested be offered to Torag, and allocated 250gp to Ingrahild (for the Knights to use on her behalf or for her directly to help her get home). I didn't note it here, but it is noted on the loot sheet. Party dispersement came after those deductions.
Vanderhoff Steelkeg |
Well, I did actually think I had posted that I was fine with the disbersements, but after going over the transcript, it appears I only mentioned not buying anything.
But quit trying to change the subject! I'm on to your passive aggressive elf-y ways! I mention you honing in on story inconsistencies and you talk about nobody speaking up about money. You are like a wife incarnate! Misdirection to win!
Storms off to pour himself a bourbon, light a fire in the firepit, and hang out with the dogs....
Jorgan Steelkeg |
Lol. Trouble in paradise?
I hope I used the loot spreadsheet correctly. I just traded in my hide armor for masterwork and picked up potions/oils of fly and daylight.
I will have to catch up on the gameplay later; I've been neglecting my GM duties in my own games today so I need to take care of that first.
