Lersoth finds nothing interesting. But he does know that the liquid in the vial is an unfinished healing potion. It's just missing a mollin leaf, which were last seen a ways South.

Nephele examines the cave. She does not see much in terms of items but does notice the cave extends into a tunnel that she cannot see the end of.

Female Sylph Druid 4

Nephele investigates a little deeper into the tunnel, looking curiously as to where it leads, although her interest has wanned slightly. She had never liked the underground, and spending so much time there had almost turned it into loathing.

Taking 10 on Perception as I go, but if the tunnel looks to being significantly long, Nephele retreats and meets up with her companions. Likewise if she runs into something weird she probably backpedels as well =]

Rose, that vial your holding looks to be a, almost complete, healing potion. To finish it we would just need a mollin, I believe they were last seen south of us.

Perhaps tomorrow some could be sent to try and find some?

Indeed Nephele the tunnel does seem to go for quite a ways. So Nephele heads back to the others to tell them of her discovery. She arrives at the base to see a few of them moving slashed up orc corpses.

Since Tal seems to have disappeared, I guess Polmar will just continue barricading himself in the Tower and then continue his exploration tomorrow

Rose wipes her hands against her breaches. Let us gather the rest and return to our haven. Tomorrow will be a busy day. Rose walks towards where she last saw Nephele in an attempt to being gathering the rest of heroes.

Sounds reasonable to me.

[I am still here, just watching from my hiding place from a distance. If I don't see any movement as it gets dark tal will plan on sneaking back to the door before it becomes completely dark to report back.

After Nephele and Tal post what they do, we will move to the next morning.

Tal the creature is not moving.

Female Sylph Druid 4

I'm resting then investigating the tunnel with everyone else in the morning.

Hmm, a stranger who walks into a cave... perhaps I'll have to look into this.

Tal heads back. The night passes without incident. It is now morning.

In the morning Rose gathers the group up. I know we're all excited to get back out and explore, but first I want to go get that food and bring it back, and I want to discuss what to do about the outside. I figured we can hash things out a bit while we walk. She turns to Lershoth. I hate to do this, but I need you to stay here. She hands the samples she took yesterday to him. I want you to test these and make sure there isn't anything poisonous about them. Before we move beyond the planning stage I want to make sure we can survive.

Polmar exits the tower.

Based on where the tower is located, he guesses that this was probably an outpost for...something at some point and heads deeper into the forest - following whichever direction would seem to lead to the widest clearing.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 4 | HP: 34/40 | AC: 18 (14 Tch 14 Ff, +1 Dodge vs Traps) | CMD: 18 | F: 3, R: 8 (+1 vs Traps), W: 4 (+2 vs Illusions) | Init: +6 | Perc: +11 (13 vs Traps), SM: +11 | Inspiration: 3/6

Lershoth shrugs I'd be happy to run some tests on them to see if I can learn anything. I suppose it seems rather moot, but I can continue to train our aspiring alchemists while I do so.

Lershoth takes the samples and prepares to head back to his laboratory, but decides to wait around until the end of the meeting to listen to any further discussion. During this time he takes a seat and prepares a few extracts before handing them to Rose to take.Four extracts to be precise.
Two of those are extracts of Cure Light Wounds.
One is an extract of Shield. And the last is an extract of Focused Scrutiny, useful if you find yourself needing to do some talking. They'll each last about 24 hours.

He'll leave when everyone else does.

Benny heads off along the heels of the Duchess. "Benny is joining the food hunt!"

Polmar heads down the only path before im it goes and winds for a time then leads to what looks to be an old knight encampment. The hut are broken or covered in moss and vines. Make a perception roll

Polmar, as you scout the encampment you hear something above you. You look up and see something large is moving through the canopy. Though you cannot make out what.

I don't know whether to be sad or happy that Polmar will be our first casualty. Rose begins walking the route spoken to her by Talirin.

Polmar continues searching around. Most of the huts hold nothing of any real value... Until he comes across a very busted hut. there is a small round table a busted bed and a rusted tea kettle. Gimme perception roll

perception, +2 more if in dim light: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

Polmar will make his way to the rusted tea kettle - perhaps it was of some significance? And then just keep his eye out for other valuables.

Rose and company start down the path that leads to the food storage.

The collecting of the food will be complete by midday. So All that are not in Rose's party tell me what you do till then, except Polmar.

Polmar you look at the tea kettle and realize there is nothing special about it. But! Being so short you do notice that under the table is a handle on the floor, as if it's a secret door...

Polmar digs into the secret door and moves the table out of the way to open it - perhaps finally there was something interesting up here.

Lershoth will focus on gathering up the alchemy class and recontinue his lessons. Given recent events he changes his focus from gardening and does some preliminary testing himself on the samples Rose took and will distribute the rest to the class and have them use the samples as practice and to see where the class currently stands skill wise.

Craft Alchemy to test samples for poisons: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Polmar moves the table and opens the secret door. Inside is a small chest. Polmar notices he cannot open it, for it is locked. Meanwhile outside the hut a loud thump shake the ground Polmar as if something large has landed outside the hut...

After much testing Lersoth discovers the samples are not poisonous.

Rose begins to talk as she walks. I foresee several ways to go about this. We can build by the cave, which gives us ease of access to material we can mine. Or we can build within the trees either by clear cutting an area or finding clear enough for us to build a fort to begin with. The woods would keeps us from prying eyes while we build, and give us plenty of room to expand with material to use. Any thoughts?

M Catfolk Swashbuckler 4 | AC:18 | HP: 46 | Init:+6 | Perc:+9 | Fort:+2 Refl:+10 Will:+2

Rose, now we have some food stores perhaps we should explore and clear the surrounding area of dangers before we worry about building outside? Once we establish an area of relative safety or people can help build without as much fear off attack.

You're not wrong, but for that we need to know where we'll be building and where we'll need to clear of dangers.

Polmar can hear something large thrashing about. It sounds like things are breaking and crashing down. Eventually it heads away.

Was just thinking we should clear the immediate area of dangers so that our people don't go wandering around and get themselves killed. When I followed Polmar to the abandoned tower something followed us as well...flying. Whatever it was seemed to be something possibly hunting him. For all I know he is dead now.

I find it disturbing that I do not know whether that saddens me or not. I do not like him, but I am unsure if his recklessness is more dangerous to our people than his skills useful.

Polmar will drag the chest with him and wriggle out the hole.

Polmar manages to get through. He is back outside. He can hear something large up above. He looks up to see...A giant spider, the size of an elephant walking along the forest canopy. It looks as though it is searching the ground. Stealth check Polmar.

Lershoth, after having finished lessons for the day will go about and consider the various possibilities for the immediate future. Not seeing the others back from gathering food he lurks around for a while, scares some children with some particularly salty glares and moves about seeing what the talk of the community is concerning recent events obviously pretending to not be terrifying their children while doing so
Diplomacy for Gather Information: Taking 10: 10 + 11 = 21

Lershoth gathers mostly info he already knew. Like how a Dragon born attacked some orc base, a giant dragon being spotted fly towards the northern mountains and Polmar was possibly in danger of being killed by a large beast in the forest. Another little bit of info was of Sam a miner going down the Northeast tunnel the night before and not returning.

This assumes the food hunting party is still out.

Lershoth sighs to himself, realizing Polmar had not yet returned. He decides to rally whatever able bodied people who have any idea on how to track someone (as Lershoth does not). Or who might have some skill at arms or magic. Specifically he looks to go find Nephele and Jalel I think they are the only other people of PC's around. along with anyone who looks like they might know how to fight.

Once gathered "So I don't believe Polmar ever returned, and I have no idea where he went, nor do I have any skill at tracking him. But we should probably set up a group of people to go out and look for him, to make sure he hasn't gotten himself into any sort of trouble. So, whose interested in going?"

Internal grumbling of rather be reading or doing research.
