This particular part of the underground is the "dungeony dungeon", once you get out of the ice it will be a lot less mapping/traps and a lot more mystery/RP


Oh man, somebody else uses the double pit trap? That's one of my originals! Everybody stops looking for a trap when they already found one. You should have seen my triple trap door. It electrified you, then stabbed and pushed you back with spikes, then opened a pit trap under you. That poor rogue...

I'm going to have to call it a night guys. Love the momentum, but it's finals week for me and I need my shut eye. Don't worry, this trap isn't all that dangerous if you have a group with some rope, it'll just be a little tedious to get him out.

Hey Bjorkus, have you seen the new playtest classes? You could rebuild Bjorkus as a skald (make everybody rage with you) or a bloodrager.

I skimmed over it. Arcanist upsets me because they basically made all other full progression arcane classes obsolete. I like the rest though (warpriest is one I'm certainly going to jump on). Nothing definite now, but I'll probably allow it, just because you were already heading that direction with your character concept.

Since I'm new, would you exlain why it makes other arcane classes obsolete?


It can learn all the spells that a wizard can and cast spontaneously like a sorcerer. Instead of being able to cast 4 different 5 level spells once each, they prepare a certain amount of spells and can cast '5th level spells' till they're out. It's just statistically stronger, eliminates the entire wizard/sorcerer rivalry.

I need to evaluate things a bit more. I'm bummed I'd be losing Versatile Performance.

I'd like to swap Bjorkus's barbarian level for a bloodrager level.

I love skald thematically but I can't come to terms with losing Versatile Performance.

Is it just me, or does the demonic bloodline for bloodragers seem better than the others?

Demonic is good. I'm leaning towards arcane.


I'll allow it, but from an optimization standpoint that seems like you're mixing paladin with bard (without the spell failure). Just one of those classes where it's usually good to go all out in it.

Do you still plan to go Dragon Disciple? If I recall, sorcerers have to have the draconic bloodline to do that. Do you think Bloodrager would have the same restriction?

I'm mostly just teasing you. While I want to see how the new classes work, and while I think skald is the perfect fit for you, you know what kind of character you want to play.

I'm not interested in trying to force anyone to be Lawful Good. That sounds exhausting for me and everybody else. Toramin usually believes in moral suasion, but given that everybody is assuming this person was petrified, the only non-evil way to act -- in my mind -- is to act on that belief.

I know that there are horror stories about how awful it is to play with paladins and I sincerely hope I'm not adding to them.

It seems from everything that I've read that they are basically "frozen in carbonite," given that stone to flesh reads: "This spell restores a petrified creature to its normal state, restoring life and goods. The creature must make a DC 15 Fortitude save to survive the process. Any petrified creature, regardless of size, can be restored. The spell also can convert a mass of stone into a fleshy substance. Such flesh is inert and lacking a vital life force unless a life force or magical energy is available. For example, this spell would turn an animated stone statue into an animated flesh statue, but an ordinary statue would become a mass of inert flesh in the shape of the statue. You can affect an object that fits within a cylinder from 1 foot to 3 feet in diameter and up to 10 feet long or a cylinder of up to those dimensions in a larger mass of stone."

Or that if you coat a basilisk victim in its blood, they are restored.

If it's not a petrified person and is just a statue, then there is no harm no foul.

Also, it has come to my attention that dungeon crawls are painful on the boards. I apologize for any boredom/impatience caused by it. I am used to DM'ing local where people normally blast through my dungeons. While there is still quite a bit to explore, there's no more mazes or traps around every corner.
