Warden of Doors |
Discussion thread is open! Welcome to the game!
As stated in the recruitment thread, you've all come to Creagfort escorting a small group of refugees that decided to take their chances on the remote mining outpost rather than the increasingly overcrowded streets of Fangsfall.
You already know each other- how well is up to you. Are you longtime friends? Are you just coworkers? Feel free to figure that out here.
Djal |
Hello All, and thank you James for hosting this game and giving me a chance to play in it!
Dejaladia Nathat, Djal for most, is a lore seeker. He is fascinated by the old tales of the Divine War and seeks to collect them from as close as the original source as he can.
He is a bit of a bravo and enjoys finding trouble. He grew up in Fangsfall, but spent a bit of time, a hard time really, in the Darkwood Grove located nearby. He grew up a street urchin.
The Unchained |
Well-met fellow travelers.
I am called The Unchained, a former slave and professional monster hunter. I do not like bullies and cheats. You can ask my friend, Lhienne, what happened to the last ones who tried to scam us.

Zukhan spent part of his youth in Darkwood Grove under the care and tutelage of a druid there. He is also a guide in the area. Maybe Zukhan found Djal injured after his encounter with the titan spawn and led him back to Fangsfall?
The Unchained |
It is quite possible The Unchained and Lhienne met most of you guys while hunting in the Darkwood Grove, after escaping from the slavers that is.
For the GM
The Unchained has a drinking problem. I think its listed as "The Flaw" in the profile.

Sounds good to me. You're the one who found me and brought me back to Fangsfall.

For the GM** spoiler omitted **
How about you went looking for me to hear about the titan spawn named Valan, who resides in the Grove? I did not tell you as much as you would have liked, simply because Djal wants revenge for himself, but it was a memorable drinking night.
Iliberos Kuskyn |
Iliberos is from Hollowfaust and has not traveled from its gates for at least a century. This would be the first time he met any of you unless any of you journeyed there. I would think the PCs would know very little about him outside of what I posted in my initial gameplay post.
Xar-Nixx |
Xar is a tall thin heavily tattooed elf, with weathered skin, and wearing torn clothing, perhaps more suited to travel at sea than where they are now... still he makes the best of it, and is always eager to help... maybe too eager.
He is a somewhat known sailor (or pirate some say), and known for giving exquisite tattoo's for a price while he's in Fangsfall on shore leave. Perhaps one of you is a former customer, and happy with his work.
It might be convenient for him to have been out drinking one night, and overheard someone talking about this mission.
GM
Xar had a rival for a young buxom lass named Polly in Fangfall, known for flirting with entirely too many lads. One of his chief rivals for her affections was a young sailor from a powerful pirate family named Roscoe Gustavson. Xar got Roscoe drunk one night, and probably had a few too many of his own as well, and somehow... accidently I'm sure tattooed something entirely unappropiate... and permanent on young Roscoe. At the time he thought it was funny, but after barely escaping one severe beating at the hands of some of Roscoe's family, he decided it was best to get away from Fangfall for a time... particularly since the Gustavson family had spread the word to Xar's former owner that he might be in Fangfall. Dang loose lips sink ships...
Lhienne |
Lhienne here. Her agenda is primarily:
a) acquire money for comforts
b) wander and see the world outside the farm.
c) give any bullies and abusers of authority she comes across what they deserve.
Also are slaves routinely branded? I doubt they wanted to mar her face as a house-slave, but she may have a brand somewhere else?
Lhienne |
Lhienne's probably branded on her shoulder blade then, unlike the unchained, she's always kept her head down, and didn't even consider freedom until it was pretty much thrown at her.
Though she'd be pretty reluctant to go back, now she's had a taste...
If we've been travelling together for a short while, it's probably been noticed that while Lhienne seems fairly happy-go-lucky, she always sticks fairly close to the unchained, and gets noticeably jumpier when she can't see him (he's an unlikely security blanket, but there you go).
The Unchained |
Don't worry The Unchained will always protect you.
On a different matter, I suggest that the party talk first before committing to the merchant's offer. I am sure we need to iron out some details. This merchant sounds like someone who will take advantage of us we don't get some out-clause ready.
Xar-Nixx |
It appears that I am smack dab in the middle of the hunting grounds of an angry Air Elemental named Irma, so if communication stops for a while be aware that I'm probably hiding in a hole somewhere, but will pop my head back out when it's safe.
Iliberos Kuskyn |
If I can tonight I'll put together a draft list of supplies. I've got about 7 games to update on the DM side though so no guarantees ;_0
Warden of Doors |
Another mule: 8 gp
+ bit and bridle: 2 gp
+ pack saddle: 5 gp
1 month of animal feed for 3 animals: 450 cp (4 gold, 5 silver; weighs 900 pounds)
1 month of trail rations for six people: 90 gp, 360 pounds
Total: 109 gold, 5 silver
Barrels of water are another consideration; lets say you all need a gallon of water per day to live. That's 180 gallons for PCs for the month + 90 gallons for the pack animals, assuming they can live on a gallon: 270 gallons of water. A barrel holds 40 gallons a piece and weighs 70 pounds. You need at least 7 barrels of water to account for everything going up there. Each barrel is 2 gp, so that's an additional 14 gp. The water itself is free, since Creagfort isn't the type of place to just gouge you for the essentials.
So that's 123 gp, 5 sp for all that. You can probably cut the water supply down a good deal by having Xar memorize Create Water to get each day's water on the way up and back, but you'll probably want the spell slot while spelunking so having at least a little water on reserve is a good idea.
You'll probably want to bring the cart, even though it slows you down I think- but I went to art school, so this is all the math I'm willing to do for the time being.
Iliberos Kuskyn |
Sounds like a great plan! Thanks for the artsy math ;)
Agreed. Thanks DM!

Often I find that if I fall behind in updates, I need to make time to simply update a Discussion Thread to inform the PCs of a particular game that I am either going to be posting later in the day or week or will be on a break form the boards for one reason or another.
To save time updating so many damn threads I am going to open this thread and link all of my DM aliases (and PC aliases) to this thread to inform people as to status.
Of course if people feel the need to ask other questions outside of PbP feel free to do so but mainly this will be a thread dedicated to ensuring that my PCs know my status and to assure everyone that even though I may have some absences away from the boards (or particular games) this thread will always be up to date with my status.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
This may be a good time to talk about posting expectations if I haven't already- not because I'm at all dissatisfied but just to have a baseline understanding since the game is new and we're still in the "honeymoon phase" so to speak.
I expect at least between 3 and 5 posts during the week. One per day is great, but everyone has a busy day at work here and there, things come up. In combat, I'll try to mow through one round each day at least- if you can't post, I'll either bot your melee/ranged attack or cantrip attack or you'll be dodging, for the sake of keeping things moving.
I'll post on the weekend when I can, in the interest of not having too long of a pause, but I don't expect everyone to be able to.
If any of this will be a problem for you, shoot me a message or let me know however you feel comfortable.
Iliberos Kuskyn |
OK for me. I normally post on the weekend but I set up 3 new Ruins of Azlant tables and that ate up a substantial amount of my posting time this weekend :-)
Iliberos Kuskyn |
I use milestones in all the games I DM, less work for the DM!
Xar-Nixx |
It is with regret and sadness that I'm going to step away from these boards for a while. It's a combination of many things, and the frustration with the board performance just pushed me to do what needed doing. I've got some things that are taking a higher priority in life at the moment. It's been a real pleasure gaming with you all, and hopefully life will give an opportunity to share this hobby we all love in the future...
Lhienne |
Lhienne can dip some bard if we're desperate, she's only +1 on Cha, but can probably save spells for heals, 2 levels gets you song of rest I think for a little extra boost during short rests.
Of course that's assuming she survives that long...
