A search of the room reveals only one thing, a long-forgotten amulet that sits in one corner, tarnished and covered in dirt and dust. Closer examination shows it to be made of bone.

Chumtooth picks it up and shows it to Dantes. The wizard examines it and pronounces, "This little jewel makes the wearer's flesh tougher."

Upon hearing the dwarven master arcanist explain the abilities of the wearer, Satinder turns around and walks back into the hallway.

"Chum, your force is formidable, but if we find more doors that need opening.. Maybe this amulet will aid you in bolstering your anger, and help aim it towards doors?"

She chuckles and swishes her blade, pretending to carve the door in half and looks over her shoulder.

"..Or maybe you reckon you don't need it..?"

Chumtooth watches Satinder make a playful, imaginary attack at the invisible door.

"If doors were made of meat and bled, none would stand against Chu-..m-me," Chumtooth replies, self-correcting to a personal pronoun.

Chumtooth approaches Satinder and holds out the amulet to her.

"Bone not taken from a slain enemy cannot strengthen a warrior," the Kuru says in a self-evident tone.

"You are captain. You may keep the bone or give as gift to any you choose."

This time the door gives way easily, opening into a darkened some 15 feet wide and 30 feet in length. At the far end of the chamber, leaning against the wall, are four small fetish masks, each about three feet high. The masks are made of lacquered wood and were once brightly painted, but have since faded to a shell of their former glory.

As he nears the masks, there is a "pssst" sound and three darts fall to the floor in front of the dwarf, having been deflected by his mage armor. Each is tipped with a black ichor.

If they appear to be too damaged to fire, he leaves them on the floor.

"Keep low. There might be people behind those masks." she whispers, as she slides forward and tries to stop underneath those masks.

Chumtooth stows the darts carefully in his poison sheath, and then stands to face the masks.

He hefts his harpoon to his shoulder in a throwing position, then looks to Satinder.

"Shall I do tar-get practice with the masks, Cap-i-tan?" he asks.

Chumtooth watches the masks carefully. At the slightest sign of movement, he hurls his harpoon.

Satinder slides in close, but as she does so, the masks are suddenly thrown aside, revealing three small humanoids that look like fetish dolls.

Knowledge (nature) DC 15:
These are flayers, incredibly fast and tough little humanoids native to jungle environments. They have natural armor and are fast on their feet and are known to use poisoned blowgun darts against foes, but have no other special abilities.

Chumtooth's harpoon immediately leaves his hand, but the little man dodges it easily. In response, the creature raises a blowgun and spits a dart at Chumtooth. Fortunately, the dart goes wide, missing the lumbering kuru.

One of the creatures draws a knife and attacks Satinder, but likewise misses with the attack.

Satinder returns the blow against the one that hit her, eliciting a squeal from the creature, as it slumps to the floor.

Grrr. I had a post made, but the boards ate it! I'll post the gist here, but you'll have to take my word for the dice rolls.

Dantes attempts to aid Chumtooth, but is unsuccessful. Vic's flaming sphere injures #3 and Chumtooth nearly finishes it off, but it stubbornly remains standing. It returns the attack against the kuru, but misses.

Satinder misses #2, and it strikes back at her, also a clean miss.

Dantes swipes at #3, causing it to stumble into the path of Chumtooth's morningstar! Vic directs her ball of flame towards #2, the creature shrieking in pain as the sphere makes contact. As the third one stumbles to avoid Dante's swing, it crosses into Chumtooth's attack, and the morningstar smashes it into a red goo!
