Argon-42 |
Ugh, Fine! You can have some shields back!
Power to Shields!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
That should get us 7 points of shields back. Lucky didn't specify but let's say Shields Fwd 6|Port 4|Aft 3|Starboard 6?
"Shields recharging... I'm going to assist." Argon-42 gets up from the science station and heads to the secondary engineering station.
Switching to the engineering role for this round. You can have multiple engineers.
Engineering (Divert Power to Shields) DC13: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Oh well, that would have blown it for a computers check also.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Depending on our final arrangement, is there any reason we can't put 3 guns to bear, assuming the arcs are available?
Domaya |
if the platform is on the border of an arc then I think we can use the guns on both sides of the arc as well as the turret. Plus the flyby attack gets us one attack using whatever gun we wish also. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that means a flyby plus having the platform on an arc border would allow all four of our guns to fire.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Conrad leaps out of the chair and heads over to a gun:
Grabbing a coilgun, Conrad fires with a battlecry: Gun: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 for DMG: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8
Argon-42 |
Grabbing a coilgun, Conrad fires with a battlecry: Gun: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 for DMG: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8
FYI: Gunnery is not a piloting check. You use DEX + BAB, but you can switch the number of ranks you have in piloting for your BAB if they are higher. If you have two ranks in Piloting, and your DEX is 14, then your gunnery modifier is +4. Pretty sure that's still a hit.
Da'at |
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Surprised as the turret controls no longer respond to his input, Da'at toggles the forward laser cannons, with mixed results.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Roger. thank you!
Kai Starchaser |
EVADE, piloting, Pegasus: 1 + 11 + 1 = 13
Kai takes evasive action as he tries to keep the platform in sight of all the weaponry on the ship.
INITIATIVE, piloting, Pegasus: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29
The ship should have the platform in both arcs now, as well as the turret. Assuming the platform can't move
GM Tyranius |
Captain Conrad leaps from his chair and shoves Da'at out of his turret seat.
Lucky Seven regenerates enough power to get some shields back as Argon 42 moves in to help but only seems to get in the way.
Kai continues to evade, though stay one step ahead of the orbital platform.
The Orbital platform swings around, only staying in the forward arc as the drones close in.
Red Orbital Platform Evade DC 11: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Blue Drone Evade DC 11: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Orange Drone Evade DC 11: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Yellow Drone Evade DC 11: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Conrad fires into the aft end of the platform, though his commanding presence at taking of the weapons systems seems to have caused some strife as Da'at and Domaya can't make their shots.
All four drones focus down on the aft section of the Pegasus as they follow it through space.

Between Lucky and I we have restored 14 points. Let's leave that with (Shields Fwd 6|Port 9|Aft 9|Starboard 6).
Domaya |
Sorry for RP suggesting the weaker ship guys :(. Rolling attack now, hoping that three weapons will be in range. Maybe Da'at should man the coilgun this round?

Hoping that she can aim at the unprotect aft of the ship Domaya fires a light laser cannon at it.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
It's okay. I abstained because I know the scene. I also know that Thursty regrets how quickly this thing spits out drones. Tales of this one scene eating the entire slot at a convention are ....not uncommon.
Da'at |

Yea, I can't imagine doing this one in person. Though I still think it is one of the better Starship Combats so far.
@Argon-42. Only each action can be performed once per round. So both cannot divert power for shield regeneration.
@Lucky Seven- Assuming you want all 7 shields on Aft?

Darn, yeah that's true for engineer actions.
How about I balance shields instead then?
We could end up with: (Shields Fwd 5|Port 6|Aft 7|Starboard 5).
GM Tyranius |
Lucky Seven is able to recharge the shields enough to keep the life support systems from being damaged even further.
Kai stays pinned to the Orbital Platform, not wanting to let it get away while Argon-42 rebalances the essential power.
Conrad moves back to his Captains chair while the two gunners open fire!
Da'at misses with the coilgun as the Orbital platform spins to the side. Watching the movement closely Domoaya tracks it and burns away some more hull with the light laser cannon.

GM Tyranius |
The Orbital Drone Platform and the Drones exchange further blows but in the end it doesn't matter much as Da'at's coilgun disables the rotating platform. With the Orbital Platform disabled the drones immediately cease attacking and become inactive, leaving you now free to explore Elytrio.
Da'at |
"Aaaaand... Boom. Alright! Where's the fire extinguisher?"
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
Conrad gives high fives, even to those who don't know the gesture. He also looks for a fire extinguisher. Once that's done, "We came here to explore, and we opted for the science ship. Let's see what that orbital doohickey has for us." Someone trained interested in "looting" that thing?
GM Tyranius |
Engineering check to salvage.
Domaya |
Can we loot opposing starships?
Domaya exhales in relief as Da'at ends the seemingly invulnerable platform. We should have taken the fighter! she says shaking her head. In any case, job well done everyone. Let's move on with the mission!
Kai Starchaser |
"Whoooo!" Kai shouts from the cockpit. "I've never been in a dogfight before." He stands up to stretch and almost falls over. Uh, maybe I'll stay sitting until my adrenaline levels are back to normal...
Kai pulls the ship up into a boarding position with the platform. "Do you need any help Sevens?"
Da'at |
Da'at good natured high-fives back with his lower right hand, then putting his upper left down for another before finally offering his remaining two fists for a fist bump. "It's an Idarian thing. For good luck. Trust me."
Argon-42 |
Engineering to Salvage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Well, if someone wants to deal with the fire I wouldn't say no!
"I believe we can access the disabled ship here. There may be useful components. From the sound of it the ship is not manned."
Engineering Salvage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
"However, let's deal with this fire first."
Engineering To Fight Fire: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 ... if fighting fires is some other skill let me know.
GM Tyranius |
The fire was just fluff.
Argon moves in and kills the circuits sparking the electrical fire from the battle.
Taking some time to line everything up Argon is able to get ahold of the Orbital Platform to bring it in for inspection. Lucky Sevens is able to salvage a small piece of the tracking system. While old, it contains some unique algorithms that current starship designers might find interesting.
Da'at |
"OK!" says Da'at excitedly. "Looks like we've got ourselves a planet to land on. And hopefully none of these orbital platforms in low orbit. So let's land this baby, hope we actually need to use the damn lab and make contact with some aliens!"
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
"Sounds good to me. Let's make some friends... Well, hopefully it's not a planet full of standoffish robots."
After scanning the planet and salvaging the code, we pick a spot and land.
GM Tyranius |
The majority of Elytrio is a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Scans reveal that the planet has a breathable atmosphere, standard gravity, and higher than normal (though still harmless) levels of radiation. While most of Elytrio shows little sign of life, the ship’s computer picks up a large energy output from what appears to be a fully functional city in the southern hemisphere. These readings indicate the city has a level of technology that is comparable to that of the Pact Worlds (albeit slightly outdated), and that the city contains life forms of some kind. It seems like the best place to fulfill the mission Arvin has sent you on.
However, as you enter Elytrio’s atmosphere, the computer warns Argon-42 that the city and a half-mile radius around it is encased in a powerful force field. The starship can’t land in or next to the city, but there is a safe landing zone fairly close to the edge of the force field.
Conrad Castamir Kerbouchard |
"Interesting, and that doesn't bode well. Let's head over to it and see what we can." Conrad thinks it over, then decides to draw his azimuth pistol for the walk.
Lucky Sevens |
Making sure people can't just land on your stuff isn't a sign of hostility. They could've just put up huge gun emplacements or something.
Or trapped the obvious landing zone.
Da'at |
"I can't imagine much here except global thermonuclear warfare having taken place at some point and these guys are the only ones left alive. So... Lets hope they aren't crazy as some people end up being under these conditions."
