Kai Starchaser |
Kai changes directions again and drives a hard line parallel to the drone, as if to pass it. Right as he reaches it, he pulls into a tight loop that wraps him around to behind the mother ship.
"I can't outmaneuver that drone if it moves like you say..." or can I?
Kai may be pushing the maneuver stunt next round to get us to perfect agility...
EVADE, DC13: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 1 = 15 I'm pretty sure Kai can't actually fail any of these checks unless they manage to damage the piloting system... After this round I'm just going to stick a '1' in place of the roll unless they manage to penalize us somehow, if that's okay with you GM.

That is fine Kai.
The Pegasus crew continues to push everything they have to the guns as Kai stays evasive, unsure what exactly to expect.

GM Tyranius |
Keep in mind Domaya that the Light laser Cannon is short range (5 hexes). You can shoot beyond that but with a -2 to hit per additional 5 hexes.
Domaya |
Ahh.. well, there's no other enemy in range other than the turret and I'm leaving that that for Da'at :). So the attack roll is a 17 then. Glad that hits cause that was a really great damage roll.
Da'at |
"Good morning, this is your gunner speaking. Currently we're looking to arrive on Unexplored Forbidden Planet in a few minutes if we can blow up Mothership Zeta. We have activated the seat-belt sign to indicate that you should return to your seat, fasten your seat-belt and look through any nearby ports or screens to look at the wonderful view we have of that big silvery blob thing."
Coilgun: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24
Damage: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 3) = 9
So 10 damage to the mothership.
The shot hits the bigger ship's shields, which ripple with the strain.
GM Tyranius |
The pair of gunners concentrate their fire on the Starboard shields and tear right through them.
The flight drone fires a light laser cannon into your aft shields.
Light laser cannon vs AC 14: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

does perfect maneuverability mean you can turn without moving forward at all first? That how it seems to me; I just want to be sure I understand it right before I try to post a flight path.
with an engine boost, Kai could probably get us over to that weak starboard side. That's probably less important than boosting the shields though
Argon-42 |
Perfect maneuverability means you can turn two facings every hex you move forward. Instead of "0" it really should say "1/2."
Since that is enough to make a complete circle out of three adjacent hexes you generally assume that something with that maneuverability can always engage.
GM Tyranius |
+1 to what Argon said.
Also Turns don’t count against a starship’s movement speed.
Kai and both Gunners are up once he moves.
Kai Starchaser |
MANEUVER, piloting, Pegasus: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 = 14

it flipped end over end so I think we can only hit the port side. The rear is the weakest spot in our threat range. Correct me if I'm wrong, GM.

Correct. For this round since it barrel rolled. Starboard = Port and Port = Starboard.
Da'at |
Odd, I could have sworn I posted...
Da'at switches his aim to the aft shielding and lets another salvo off.

GM Tyranius |
Conrad tosses a little extra encouragement Domaya's way as Lucky works on repairing the aft shields. Rerouting a small bit of power he is able to bring them back to full power.
Kai fumbles with the controls and pulls in right behind the large orbital platform allowing Da'at and Domaya to rail into its aft end relentlessly.
Argon locks onto the orbital platforms power core to attempt to shut it down for good. Da'at got really close on it there for you!
Critical System: 1d100 ⇒ 90
The pair of gunners strike the power core, causing it to start glitching.
The orbital drone's turrets stay locked onto the Pegasus and both fire at the starboard side.

Blue Light laser cannon vs AC 12: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

In starships, I don't think the damage is doubled, we just get an extra roll on the chart, but since we're locked on we just send the core to the next stage.
GM Tyranius |
Yup- I have to look that up everytime as well. Damage is not doubled. Though if youroll a nat 20 and deal actual damage to the hull it is a critical effect rolled to cause damage to a system, similar to a critical threshold roll.

Yellow Drone Evade DC 11: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
The Orbital Platform and drones continue to remain elusive, though at least it isn't spitting out anymore drones!
Da'at and Domaya's shots seem to be getting worse as they both miss. The drones line up on the Pegasus and focus their attacks on the aft and port shields.
Purple Light laser cannon vs AC 12 (Port): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Blue Light laser cannon vs AC 12 (Aft): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Orange Light laser cannon vs AC 12 (Aft): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Yellow Light laser cannon vs AC 12 (Aft): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
The port shields are just enough to stop the incoming damage as the aft of the ship nearly explodes out into space. A pair of twin beams cut through the hull.

Round 7
Orbital Platform Round 5 Piloting Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Yellow Orbital Drone Piloting Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Blue Orbital Drone Piloting Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Purple Orbital Drone Piloting Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Orange Orbital Drone Piloting Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
The Orbital platform's power core constantly modifies and patches itself to hold together.
Orbital Platform Engineering Hold Together (Power Core) DC 16: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Power core acts as glitching for the round.
Orbital Platform Science Officer Scan DC 8: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
With it's shields well in place the Orbital Platform scans the Pegasus for areas of weakness to focus on.
The purple drone skims right over the Pegasus, locking onto it's weakened arc.
Purple Drone Flyby DC 16: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Only Purple drone has moved.
