Realizing that it has been seen the creature severs its webs attached to the puppet and skitters up into the hollow tree.
GM Tyranius

Peering into the tree Belvica catches no sign of the spider man as it seems to have run away.

What would we roll roll to know what it was, and is the dc low enough to make it untrained?
Naomi circles around the pit trap with a stick, carefully making sure she doesn't step somewhere bad, and plunges the stick in front of the pit. "On our way out, don't forget to avoid the stick."
Roderick Xim
|
I deduce we may not have seen the last of it. Or its kin.
Roderick keeps an eye out for any more pits or strange creatures lurking.
Gringo AiN

Belvica's seems to like it, hah! If you succeed at handling it, i'll make some extraodinary performances with it! But if not..well let's just be even more carefuel. .."
Gringo looks through surroundings, especially the puppet and its strange "master" locations, also detecting any signs of magic. Detect magic. Is there anything?
GM Tyranius
|
Gringo doesn't detect any magic in the nearby vicinity.

Past the glade, the gaping mouth of a tunnel opens into a bleak, cairn-like mound. Down the dark passageway, you find a grisly scene.
The tunnel opens into a large cavern. Thick layers of sagging webs choke the room from floor to ceiling. Beyond the mass of tangles, jade flames burn about a rough pyramid-shaped dais, bathing the whole chamber in an eldritch green glow. Gruesome carcasses and human-sized cocoons dangle from ghastly strands. In places, walls are covered with worn-out bas-reliefs and faded markings. The air smells of dust, decay, and death.

This place is undoubtedly in need of a good spring dusting. These cobwebs are thick as drapes. And by the looks of it, this place may be a pantry for critters we may not want to meet.
Roderick will also try to peer into the room before going any further.

Moving a bit forward Belvica notices that there is a large slab of stone attached to a web rope that looks to be set to swing down and smash anyone who crosses the path.

Belvica moves towards the obstacle and fires an arrow at the stretch of webbing holding the slab up into the air.
Her arrow slices clean through the webbing and it crashes to the ground knocking a massive cloud of dust into the air.
Too focused on the trap the group failed to realize that hiding in the thick strands and mass of webs around the room are two more of the spider-like humanoids. Thick webs shoot out at Belvica and Naomi as the creatures skitter easily across the mass of webs.

Naomi face palms at the triggering of the trap, which sadly was the perfect chance the web her. Luckily she had her sword out and not entirely immobile, and she starts trying to extricate herself from the sticky web, carefully cutting the strands that bind her.

Correct. We are currently in a caveand not in a forest. Though it will still come in handy so thanks for letting me know about it :)
Gringo starts a performance with his pistols as the spider men look on in awe. The green creature gets the stink eye from Alexander.
DC 15 Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Naomi cuts herself free from the thick webbing as Tobold quickly mounts Tug and charges into the red spider-man. The lance impales the creature and it falls lifeless on the end of the lance.

Gringo manages to get a clean shot on the ettercap and blows a hole right through the monster's head. It lies slumped and bleeding in the mass of webs.
With the ettercaps removed from the cavern you finally have a good chance to look around.
Wrapped neatly within the webs are a few gems, pendants, and gold pieces, and a masterwork silver short sword. The cocoons hanging behind the altar contain a number of human bodies—Lady Riverbane’s former companions or crewmen from the Hanspur’s Luck.

Gringo tends to the wounded cacoon people. One is an elderly Osirion man who introduces himself as Zukka Nephmet. The other is a close friend of the Black Marquis: a pirate named One-Eyed Farl. Both survivors are infinitely grateful to you for saving their lives.

Finally exiting the loathsome shrine, it looks like the sun itself decided to celebrate the Pathfinders’ victory over the evil denizens of the mound. But the sun didn’t come alone: Lady Riverbane and eight of her rough pirate flunkies also await.
“Well,” says the jet-haired pirate woman, lips twisted in a grin. “Shiver me timbers! Look who made it out alive. I hoped the crawling horrors would be the end of you, but I suppose vermin don’t eat each other.” Riverbane spits on the moss covered ground before continuing. “Why do Pathfinders always have to meddle in what doesn’t concern them?” Pulling out an ancient-looking tome from a pouch, she throws it unceremoniously in the mud. “Fools! All this for a book …” She errupts in laughter. “Bazzak dies tomorrow and you die today! KILL THEM!”
Farl and Zukka quickly retreat back into the tunnels as they are two weak to even defend themselves.
