"Then let's stay focused on moving then. What's up here?"

@Rika- All are ghostly images of the past.
None of the spirited children pay any mind to Jal as he carefully looks around to them.
Deris whips around to Mumblypeg. I am not going anywhere. Not now that I found my little girl. he says with a beaming smile as he moves over and crouches down near her in the southern corner of the room.
The group circles around the ghostly children, as they silently tell their stories and whispers. None of them look to be Junia from the large mural painting though.

With Low-Light Vision, I'm assuming Jal can see them even though they're outside the light. Also...
Jal watches the creatures for a moment, then steps forward as he grins at Agirran, ”Second verse, same as the first, no? Let’s hold this chokepoint.”

Of course, that was just fluff.

Tophor draws his bow, calling out warning to the others. “Ghouls! Watch out – their bites are deadly!”

Round 1

Rika moves into a better position to fire her bow, cursing under her breath at the mention of ghouls. Cannot even use blade, room so small!
Surprise round, move. Is there somewhere in this room where Rika could climb for a better vantage point against the ghouls that are rushing us?

![]() |

Unfortunately the room is pretty bare. If you want to allow the ghouls loose you can probably use the stair's height to your advantage.
The group quickly moves into position as the ghouls descend the stairs with an unnatural speed.
Jal readies his sharp katana for if the undead manage to get past Agirran. As the ghouls charge at Agirran, bared teeth snarling, Bosbain slashes his blade around the corner.
The ghoul leaps out of the shortsword's path as it clatters harmlessly against the wall.

Actually, I had posted that Jal 5' stepped to the wall in the above post, but wasn't able to update the map. Wold that allow Jal's readied action to be triggered? (as that was my intent).

![]() |

Yup, That is fine.
Jal's katana slices around the corner. The sharpened blade cuts the ghoul right into two halves, ending it's unlife.

"Tell me about it." Agirran looks over the dead undead.

Looking over the undead's bodies Agirran finds little more than tattered clothing. None of the corpses seem to resemble young Junia.

Deris goes back to an inner conversation as he kneels back down by his ghostly daughter, otherwise completely ignoring Bosbain.

Jal and Brother Tophor spend several minutes scouring the northern hallway and alcoves. They find little more than dust, cobwebs and the shattered remains of many children huddled together that look to have been chewed on with several bones missing. The group finds no traps and no Junia.
Placing her ear to the remaining door below Rika hears the sounds of the ocean beyond.

Walking back into the room, Jal stops when he sees Rika inspecting the door. ”Your call,” he says to her curtly, his stare flat.
So should we proceed? :)

Confident that there are no traps Jal opens the stone door. With the frequency of storm waves approaching the shore, salt water erupts from cracks in the floor of this large hexagonal room. Foamy, blinding spray jumps in every direction, then drains from calf-height to ankle-deep before the next wave hits. Occasionally a length of black-brown seaweed shoots in and adds one more strand to a room that already appears draped in long wet hair. In each of the chamber’s six corners, a fluted pillar rises to the fifty-foot ceiling. Between each pair of pillars, an open arch connects the chamber to an attached space. Beyond the northwest and southwest arches, three tiers of recessed spaces form three massive steps. A stone sarcophagus rests on each step.
In the western alcove is an undead creature that seems to have made this alcove it's lair. This undead is dressed in rotting finery, wisps of fetid, expensive cloth still dangling from its limbs. Perched atop its head is a golden crown, resplendent with a dozen glittering gems, while its putrid fingers each bear extravagant rings made from a dozen different precious gems and metals.
