Sir Ninn de Hawtey |
Sir Ninn makes a clumsy kick as the creature moves into his square, then steps back and taps Darius' sword with the wand. "Send these fiends back to the pits of hell, in the name of Iomedae!"
Standard Activate wand of bless weapon
Darius Leroung |
Darius positions himself between the two Asuras, all the while remaining outside of their reach, and then brings down his weapon atop [red].
"Not even the Lord of Contracts would suffer these creatures in His presence!"

Darathys Kressen |
Darathys roars and steps forward, trying to bring down his greatsword on the strange creature his group is fighting with a fluid move.

Ninn tries to kick the outsider as it moves in to sting her, and though it doesn't connect, she charges Darius's sword with some holy power. The hellknight then lands a solid blow on the creature. Riceak connects with his glaive but it doesn't seem to harm to asura much, while Darathy's misses with his massive sword, and almost losing a toe in the process. The asura with the green tinged horns makes its way down the wall, and heads straight for Darius. It somehow finds a crease in his dragonplate armor, and the wound begins to feel like a hot poker.
Darius gets an AoO and also needs to make a Fortitude save.

Even with the blade being magical or was it just because of the damage I rolled?

Taking a step closer, he levels another arrow, but closes his eyes as he lets it fly at the closest beastie.

Beckett's arrow yet again goes wide, as the asura lets out a cackle. It tries once more to hit Ninn with its stinger, but can't find a gap in the thick armor, though its own wound continues to heal.

This time, Ninn take the opportunity to pass a blessing on to Darathys's blade. It certainly helps, as he deals a solid blow to the small outsider, almost chopping off an arm. Though some poison is sapping his strength, Darius manages to land a swing from his blade. Riceak calls on his faith to heal him and his fellow Pathfinders. The demon like creature moves in to retaliate against Darathys, delivering a poisonous sting.
Darathys gets an AoO on red, and if you don't kill it, need to make a Fortitude save

Not that it really changes anything, but I had red attack in my last post instead of green. Green will attack now and we will pretend like nothing happened ;)
Beckett continues to struggle with his bow, and can't land an arrow. The other asura manages to once again inject poison into Darius's veins, while healing its own wounds.

Sir Ninn de Hawtey |
"Flank with me Darius, and then Darathys position himself opposite you." Sir Ninn steps to the side and calls down the power of his goddess, "If my cause is honorable and righteous, may Iomedae deliver justice through these fists!"
Swift Smite Evil (green)
Standard Ready attack when Darius steps into flanking.
Just realized I didn't add my size modifier into his character sheet!

Darathys never took his AoO so I'm rolling it for him.
AoO on red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 172d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 + 3 = 19
As the red horned asura moved in to attack the barbarian, it was met with the iron of his blade, cleaving his head clean off. Ninn uses his holy wrath to crack the ribs of the other, while Riceak's attack hits but is not very effective. But once again, Darathys's blade ends the life of another creature.
Out of combat!
In the small alcove to the south, you find a large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here. You find a furry brown belt on the statue, that somehow avoided being desecrated by the asuras. Additionally, a small cabinet in the pedestal below the statue holds a richly illuminated copy of the Vigrahin Patitraka (a Vudran holy text) and a handwritten journal belonging to a priest who accompanied Khiben-Sald on his travels around the Inner Sea.
On your way out of the temple, you find that the monkey carvings have changed in the first chamber. Two of the carved monkeys are now kneeling and holding the weapons stolen from the asuras out, as if to present them to the you as a gift or trophy. And in the jungles outside, you screeches of monkeys echo in the distance all around you.
You meet back up with Baron Rudyahm, Count Matsada and the rest of the hunting party, who have been waiting patiently for your return. As you approach, the Baron runs up to meet you. "I'm glad to see you're alright! I got worried once I heard the howling of those blasted creatures again, not along after a group trio of looters ran by. What in god's name happened in there?"
Riceak Hawklight |
The cleric will tell the Baron about their battle with the extra planar creatures.

Detect Magic/Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
"Hey, would ya look at that. Certainly a gift of favor from the monkey divinity here. This bolt, not only makes you quicker, but aids a great deal in climbing, and can even make you grow a tail for a short while."
"And did anyone notice the statues change?"
Once outside, I'll greet the Baron, glad he and the band are safe as well. "It was an interesting find, though a hard fought one, to be sure. The bandits where just that, beating us here, and looting, but what evil they encounter inside terrified them so, that they fled. We encountered them at the entrance, but found out very little."
"Some sort of devils, the likes of which I've not seen. It seems they had set in there for some time, and intended to stay. I'm just glad their threat has been ended, and this place now safer."
Holding out the various treasures we located, "And these are some of the things we managed to recover. I just hope that they can be restored, and shared."
Darius Leroung |
I still probably have Fort saves to make. 3 more?
Fort Save #4: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Fort Save #5: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Fort Save #6: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Holy wow. If I could post emojis I have a couple in mind...
Darius winces at the slightest sounds of the group. "What did those creatures have in their stingers? Bad Varisian rum?"
As the group emerges from the temple he slowly removes the lower half of his platemail, exposing the leather and cloth underarmor, and plops down with a heavy sigh. Every motion is painfully slow.
"Let us survey this temple tomorrow? My head is killing me."
Any long term effects? Or is it ability damage that can return over the next several days?
GM Turmoil |
@ Darius: Yeah I forgot you had posted that. As for the poison, yes it's all ability damage, not drain, so you will be fine.
The Baron listens to your story, hanging on every word. "It sounds like I missed a hell of a fight. But I'm getting too old for this, and it's probably about time for me to settle down. I thank you all for giving me the opportunity to but that beast to rest."
The rest of the hunting expedition passes without incident, and you make your way back to Absalom without any difficulty. Baron Rudyahm is grateful to all of you for your help, and to his son-in-law Falroun Matsanda for organizing the expedition. Finally satisfied that he avenged the friends lost on his last expedition, he retires from hunting to write his memoirs. Falroun is also overjoyed with the Pathfinders for helping him bond with his father-in-law. For those that successfully bagged an animal during the hunt, the Count arranges to have their trophies stuffed and mounted and delivered to them as a gift when they disembark the ship.
Though Ambrus Valsin is excited to inspect all of the items you found in the lost temple, he is especially thrilled about the journal in recounting Khiben-Sald’s travels. He immediately refers the log to the Society’s Vudran historians for analysis, hoping to glean information about other lost sites the Maharaja may have built or visited during his travels.
