Bom shrugged, "I suppose, though people say you get what you pay for. Tanner might be the better choice if we run into danger." Bom looks Sir Lecky and then at himself. Laughing he quips, "We'll be in a world of hurt if we fall overboard. What say the rest of you? Darice, Otti, or Tanner? Though Darice may take more convincing."

![]() |

With the majority choosing Otti, Bom returns to the hafling. "We've taken care of our errand and are ready book passage to Escador. When do we leave?"

GM Tektite |

Otti tells you that he will sat sail on the evening tide. After gathering your belongings, you meet the halfling at the designated spot and climb aboard his small sailing boat. The halfling proves himself to be an able sailor and the party has an uneventful twelve hour passage to Escadar. Otti moors his boat at the docks and points you in the direction of the Grindylow's Goblet.
The sounds of a busy tavern echo off the wooden walls of this unusual building. Resting precariously over Escadar’s harbor, the Grindylow’s Goblet offers an unequaled view of the water. In the bar’s center, a thick glass aquarium presents a striking display. Within the tank, a coral statue of a goblin with the lower body of an octopus hosts a school of colorful fish that flit about the nooks and crannies of its tentacles.

Bom nudges Stullun and nods towards the statute, "Now that is one strange looking goblin."

Sorry for the delay, RL has been hectic.
The party mingles around the alehouse, ordering drinks and chatting up the few patrons. None of the patrons seem to have any information of any use or help to the party. Bom and Talathel do notice that the female bartender is a gillman. The party finds a table and sits, sippping their beverages. After some thirty minutes, two gillman enter and after ordering drinks from the bartender, come over to the table. Greetings Patfinders! says the male gillman. I am called Shoalo. This is my associate Ahrmisa. He says nodding to the female gillman standing next to him. Do you have the relic? Can we set it on the table to see it?

"How do we know you are the ones ready to receive us? And I mean with good intent, not a malicious desire to relieve us of our items."
Talathel does not care about diplomacy, instead opting to get straight to the point.

Bom was perhaps too trusting, after all, he hadn't been a Pathfinder for that long, nor was he good at detecting falsehoods. But Talathel's suspicions seemed sensible. After all, the whole point of the mission was to confuse the enemy. Bom tried to get a sense whether these two were hiding something or up to no good. Putting a hand on the wizard's back as a show of support, Bom rose to address the gillmen, "The elf means no disrespect, but we have come a long way and we want to see this thing through properly."

Lecky will sit idly by the bar pretending that he does not care about the negotiation.
I'll wait here until I see signs of aggression and try to cut off their escape route. Bom and Talathel can do the talking pretty much on their own.

Bom wasn't expecting the exchange to go down in a crowded bar. He keeps his hand on his hilt and his shield ready in case the gillmen had been followed.

Stullun looks down at the relic and nudges it on the table lighty, then at the gillman and says "Why you so nervous friend? Is there something you want to tell us before you go through with this? Honesty is always the best policy, no?"

GM Tektite |

As the items are set on the table, Rees begins to examine the Low Azlanti relic. Suddenly his eyes go wide and he looks to the the party. This is a fake! Look! you can see where the paint is peeling. Its a fake! We've been betrayed!
As Rees exclaims his discovery, the party hears a glass shatter near the bar and an instant later all the torch flare up, brighter than the noonday sun. At the same moment, the party see the gillman reaching for the Society relic on the table.

Oh wait, he may not get an AoO because I forgot he's blind. I don't think you can make AoO's against someone with total concealment, but I could be wrong.
Well, hopefully Talathel can Force Bolt(tm) them into submission as none of us melee types seem to be able to do a thing about it. Let's hope they have low HP's. Looks like Tal did not take an action last round either, so maybe he's got two rounds of spells.
