Lecky's question suggests to Bom that the kobold was dead. Bom calls back to Lecky, "Alive and thrashing. Don't let it pull you into the swamp! Hey gator, your master is dead, run away!"
Bom looks at Stullun and laughs.

Bom laughs along with Sir Lecky, ” Maybe I can talk this log house into rolling on top of it!”

Looking hopefully at Bom, Stullun says. "Maybe the 'gater wont want to follow onto the path? Perhaps we should just keep moving along?"
Hoping that advice works, Stullun climbs up onto the log. Taking 10.

Stullun, you can just delay and after it approaches wait for someone to flank it then you'll get sneak attack

Lia withdraws to the path.
Stullen delays, deciding if he wants to climb the log.
The alligator falls for the ruse and clambers up the path, attacking Lia.

When the alligator moves up to Lia, Bom grins as he and Stullun have it flanked. Bom had been waiting for this and attacks with his longsword
Longsword w/Flank: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
But perhaps too pleased that his plan had worked, Bom rushes the attack and nearly loses the grip on his sword.
Per the Ready rules, I think my Init moves to just in front of the gator so I'll attack again after everyone else moves. FYI, I moved Stullun back down onto the ground next to the gator per his post.

Bom grins ear to ear when he sees Stullun go to work on the alligator, "Lia, THAT is how one flanks!" Bom let out a laugh hoping he wasn't getting too cocky.

Lecky moves to within reach of the alligator to help his team.

Bom, if I'm right a longsword is supposed to have 1d8 damage instead of 2d6 which a greatsword usually has, unless it is a special longsword.
Regarding crit damage, I don't know if I will just multiply that damage by 3 or I will roll the damage multiplier 3x?

"Great job everyone."
After retrieving his javelin, Bom guts the alligator to see if has any thing worth value in its stomach.
"You never know, it could have bitten off an arm with a ring..." Bom smiles sheepishly at the others. As Bom works, he calls back,
"What's the story with that kobold? What was it talking about?... probably should check out the house at some point..."

"I guess we would never know," says Lecky as he wipes the blood off his guisarme. "I would bury the kobold, if you guys don't find anything unusual, let's get going. I don't want to be stuck here when the night falls."
Lecky would offer a short prayer after burying the kobold. After that he is good to go unless something comes up.

With Tal and Stullun already holding healing wands, Bom decides to pick up the latest find. "Let's use this wand before anyone else uses theirs."
With three different people holding wands, there was a greater chance anyone who went unconscious could be stabilized quickly.
"Unless we have any other business here, I'm ready to roll."

Lia again replaces her sword, then glances at the map over Bom's shoulder (except he's got about a foot on her, so it's really more around his shoulder.) "I'm ready to go as well. How much farther can we get today?"

![]() |

"Can someone help me get the kobold back into its house? I would very much like to heal it up, and then seal the door behind it so we can leave without it chasing us. I have a spell exactly for this occasion."
He looks at Bom, holding the new wand, and at the kobold, which seems stabilized.
"From my understanding of the creature's language, I believe it was doing its best to protect someone, and was prepared to die for it or them. Perhaps there are children of her around, and it/he/she was acting the way she thought was best to protect them."
He tries to explain the plan as simply as he can, making sure not to step on anyone's toes. You can tell Talathel thinks this is a logical thing to do, not necessarily a choice from the heart but from the mind.

![]() |

Bom was pretty sure kobolds were generally evil creatures. Evil druids were not unheard of either. The wand suggested this was a divine caster and the alligator seemed to confirm for Bom this as a druid. Bom couldn't really understand why the wizard wanted to heal this creature. But Bom was wise enough to know he wasn't smart enough to know everything.
"Well, I don't think it's wise to heal kobolds who attack humans without even so much as a rhyme or reason. If you say this is the right thing to do, I won't argue with it, but once it wakes up, how do you plan on keeping it from attacking us again or casting spells? Especially after it finds it's pet minus a head?"
Bom examines the creature for any divine focus common to druids or a pouch of spell components.

GM Tektite |

Searching, the party finds no spell components or holy symbols, but after a short time of discussion, come up with an ingenious plan to allow the kobold to live and give the party plenty of time to put her abode behiund them. Bom thinks that the party will have fine traveling weather for the next couple of days.
Bom's prediction proves correct as the party has fine travelling weather, for the next day. After another uneventful night of camping, the party moves on. Within a couple of hours, the town of Piers End comes into view. Soon enough the party is in the sleepy, fishing village, glad to be in some small bit of civilization.

As the party settles in for a well deserved drink, they begin to ask around for information on catching a ride over to Escadar. Bom and Stullen are able to discover that there are three likely people who would be willing; a lady named Darice, a halfling named Small Otti, and a crazy old coot named Tanner.
Darice never knew her father, and many villagers whisper that he was a member of the Pathfinder Society. Small Otti values his coin, for he has many mouths to feed—most importantly, his own. Tanner’s skill at sea is unmatched, but so is his lunacy; take a boat ride with him and you might ride straight into a squall.
Lecky also discovers-Darice resents never knowing her father and some say she longingly caresses the trinket he left behind for her. Small Otti has a weakness for fine food and drink, and any deal with him is made sweeter if food is involved. Some whisper that Tanner is not actually crazy, but no one is brave enough to find out.
Anyone else want to try to aid on the gathering of information?

As the party walks out to find Tanner, they also learn:
Darice often lends a hand to the town’s elderly male residents, and some suggest that she longs for a father figure. Otti often asks for the moon in payment, but if he’s treated properly, he sometimes settles for much less. Tanner enjoys his tobacco, and merchants often give him tobacco before they negotiate with him as it seems to relax him.

Bom shrugs at the choices, "None seems decidedly better than the other, though if Tanner is the best sea captain, let check the weather and see if we are likely to encounter any storms."

Bom is eager to continue the journey, but decides to talk with them all to see which one will give the best price and inspires the most confidence among his companions. Bom asks the group to contribute and he buys some tobacco for Tanner (5sp?), some fine food and drink for Otti (1gp?). But first he leads the group to visit to Darice.
"Hello madam. We six seek passage to Escador. We hear you are a fine captain and wonder if you have room for passage and when that passage might take place. We trust you'll deal with us fairly."
Once again, Bom uses his skill at Diplomacy to improve Darius attitude before asking for price or favors.
I'm going to T10=15 with each person.

"We apologize for the inconvenience," as Lecky humbly bows before Darice and pulls his party on the side.
"You guys want to check out Otti? or Tanner? I'll pitch in to get us a ride."

He bows and walks away from Darice mumbling.
Further down the block, he stops the party and talks to everyone.
"As I have stated before, I'm all about Tanner, but I'll join you going around at everyone's place and see where we can get the best deal."

GM Tektite |

The takes their leave of Darice and go talk to Small Otti. The find the halfling at an inn and offer to purchase his dinner while asking for passage across to Escadar. The halfling begins by asking 55 gp for the passage, but as he eats the meal provided by the party, eventually comes down and settles for 15 gp for passage.

![]() |

Bom, thinking of Talathel's preference, "Master Otti, there is one thing we need to investigate. We will return if we have need of your services."
With that, Bom takes leave of halfling and searches for Tanner. Upon finding the man, he invites him to smoke some tobacco while they discuss booking passage.

GM Tektite |

The party finally finds old man Tanner at the docks. His backis to you and he appears to be staring out to sea and having an argument with ocean. You unfaithful old hag! Why..in my younger days.. He turns at you approach. He is a disheveled, fish-smelling, and wild-eyed man who constantly talks out the side of his mouth while blowing thick gouts of grey smoke from an aromatic pipe. He initially asks for 35 gp for the trip, but after accepting the tobacco with a grunt, he knock his price down to 25 gp.
