KULIK puts his bow back into its efficient quiver and draws his +1 cold iron greataxe on the move/fly, getting opposite Noble. Since he cannot yet attack, he activates his judgments as a swift action (sacred destruction and sacred smiting aligned to good) and waits until he can strike next turn.

ROUND 2!
Nuku tries to break free of the demon's grasp, but fails to do so. The tiny dragon then breathes on the tentacle.
Fort: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
The breath weapon seems to have no effect.
Kulik switches weapons and passes judgement on the demon.
Gluarung casts a spell, sending missiles of arcane force at the demon, but the missiles appears to just bounce off the demon.
The demon floats back, (five foot) and lashes out tentacles at Noble and Kulik, while attempting to maintain it's hold on Nuku.

Glaurung of Anfauglith |
Good point. I'll take the +2 to hit on the attacks above just in case.
Kulik |
Blessings of fervor...w00t!
KULIK chooses to use Hugo's blessing to receive a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves, then moves toward the demon on the opposite side of the grappled pseudodragon in an attempt to get flanking. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 His Solo Tactics class feature should allow him the use of Precise Strike.
GM's call as to whether KULIK can switch Bane to his greataxe from his bow. I've seen it ruled both ways and will accept either. To-hit below would get an additional +2 and damage would get an addtional 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3.

Since Bane is based on rounds/day, couldn't you just drop it on the bow as a free action and then start it up on the greatsword as a swift? The only conflict is that you couldn't switch Bane to a new weapon and activate a judgement at the same time.
GM Tektite |
Hugo casts a spell, granting a bleesing of fervor upon the party.
Fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Nuku breathes again and again the demon seems unfazed.
Kulik steps into flanking position while attacking the demon. His axe hits and appears to do a fair amount of damage to the demon.
Gluarung unleashes a ray of fire at the demon, but it does not seem to penetrate the demon's resistance.
Noble and Nuku feel the demon's tentacles constrict and suddenly their minds are awash with agony.

Hmm, you know, it actually reads that way in the PRD. I will have to check my hardcover at home, but I don't recall ever reading that line before. I wonder if that's errata I missed or if it's always been there and I simply never caught it. If it's the latter, mea culpa.

You are quite correct Kulik. Got confused going through the posts.

GM Tektite |
Noble punches away at the wispy form of the demon, managing to connect almost everytime!
Hugo follows up an manages to strike the demon twice!
As Hugo makes his last strike, the demons form begins to withe and spin, creating a small whirlwind. The funnel spins faster and faster, condensing into a small ball that at last disappears with a shock wave, blasting and buffeting the party into unconsciousness.
Out of Combat!
The party awakens to finds themselves on the floor of the temple. Kneeling over Brother Dunnamast, Osprey is quiet for a moment, his chest heaving. Next to him, sprawled on the floor is Xersus, staring blankly at the ceiling. Osprey stands and nods at the party. Well done Pathfinders! I did not expect you to vanquish the demon, merely to hold it off while I got the information from the brother here. This will reach the ears of the Decemvirate!
It takes a few hours, but Dunnamast finally reaches a point where he can speak. The brother recounts meeting a pretty lass while out drinking, but very little after that. She seemed particularly curious about his faith, and he jovially invited her to partake in the eternal celebration. After several drinks she became giddy and seductively lured him into the privacy of the storage rooms, where she kissed him and he blacked out. When he awoke, he was the dream realm where the primordial demon lay in waiting—he can’t remember how long he’d been there. He also tells that he remembers something about a strange flagstone underneath the bench in the garden.
Osprey tells the party that the appearance of the primordial demon is proof that Baldimar’s hidden archives exist, and likely hold something of great value—something demons value higher than the risk of assaulting a major temple in Absalom. He instructs you to examine the flagstone mentioned by the brother. He also says that he fears Xersus has suffered psychic scarring and they will return to the Lodge at one to inform the Decemvirate and obtain healing for Xersus.
Before leaving, Xersus says. Be wary, I fear you will up against some powerful demons. Take these as help. He hands the party a small bundle containing; a gem of brightness and five cleric scrolls:
dismissal, magic circle against evil, restoration, atonement, and dispel evil.
The High Priestess offers to let the party rest for the evening at the temple and has the temple clerics heal the party of all their wounds.
Congrats! You weren't really supposed to win this fight, merely hold off the demon for ten rounds. Any consumables you used were not actually spent and remain in your inventory. Also you spend the evening in the temple, so you have all your spell back and an opportunity to swap out any.
SO just let me know when you are ready to head to the flagstone!
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
In this temple of Caiden Caylean I assume they have alchemist's kindness for sale? I'm going to be buying about a dozen. I'd also like to find someone who can sell me some bachelor snuff. . .
After that traumatic experience Glaurung will head straight to the bar and order the strongest drink they have. She offers Kulik and Savage to share a room with her for the night. She'll then move on to Hugo and Sakura and gauge their interest.
If all of the party turn her down, she will find the hunkiest looking guy or the most eccentric looking girl at the bar and find her own place to sleep.
Kulik |
