Tsusoku |
"... nnope."
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"He's asking why we've disturbed his sleep and garden."
"Rssy ra brdst ay. Yam yovl dengar ay hve. Mo aw sap?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"I told it what a lovely garden it has and asked if we might pass through."
Woops. I think I offended the mushroom.
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"Be friendly, everyone. Act interested at least."
That or we try a different tactic. My Intimidate is +7. And I have claws if that'll help.
Chun Hei |
Chun Hei will smile and bow gently, trying her best not to bare her sharp teeth.
Diplomacy to Aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Tsusoku |
Tsusuko tries to help by being as nonthreatening as possible.
diplo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Han Van Thao |
Han auto aids on diplomacy.
"Tell it, we mean it no harm and that it's the most impressive mushroom creature we've ever seen."
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"Honky doo donkey doo."
GM Tektite |
Seeing as Hrolf has +9 Diplo., you just squeak by on the check.
The fungoid begins chattering rapidly and motioning to the party to follow. Helo ffrindiau! Dilynwch fi os ydych am basio drwy fy ngardd. Mae'n gardd hyfryd, diolch i chi. Byddwch yn ofalus a pheidiwch â chyffwrdd unrhyw beth neu gallech anafu.
Not really waiting for an answer, the fungoid begins to trace a circuitous path through the fungal garden.
Tsusoku |
"... if we're doin' sumptin with donkey doo doo, I'm gonn' need some'a th'rum..."
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"He says to follow him. And don't touch anything or you could get hurt."
Glaurung leads the party as she follows the fungoid through the garden.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hrolf nods in satisfaction.
"Good work little one", he offers the gnome before following the trail through the fungus.
Chun Hei |
Chun Hei once again bows gently before continuing. She does however keep a watchful eye over the many fungi around.
Apparently in this place, the fungus eats you.
GM Tektite |
The party follows the fungoid, who's name you learn is Zinko. It bids you farewell and you continue on your way. The tunnel you are in, travels for about 650', gently sloping downward. You come to a tee and while checking Sascha's directions you find a note scrawled on the back that reads; Pathfinders, my memory is not what it used to be, so I'm writing this note in case I forget to mention it at our meeting. Be wary! There is a fire trap that my companions and I left set at the base of the steps leading to the door. If I forgot to tell you, I hope you read this before you get a nasty surprise. Sascha. Standing at the tee, you see a collapsed portion of the tunnel across from you and what looks to be another tunnel crossroads leading about 50' further down the tunnel.
Direction?
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"Well that was nice of her to leave a note, I suppose. Does anyone know how to deal with traps?"
When you say at the base of the steps, do you mean like a pressure plate?
"Perhaps we can simply be very careful and avoid contact?"
Tsusoku |
"... hope'ful'ly." adds after the the gnome asks the second question.
Chun Hei |
"If necesssary, perhapss Hrolf can ssummon a goat. I have been insstructed that farm animalsss are remarkably good at dissarming trapss."
GM Tektite |
So...Door #1 or Door #2?
It's not a pressure plate.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
"The beasts at my command are not pawns to be sacrificed", Hrolf says with an unhappy growl.
"If we have no way of disarming it, we'll just have to go through it."
Tsusoku |
Tsusuko hefts his Tower Shield which actually IS a tower shield and not a famacile thing; he just doesn't actually strap it to his arm and carries it around. "This'n got me through an arrow trap. Will't work on fire doors?"
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"You can certainly try."
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
"I'll offer what protection I can" Hrolf said.
After a gesture and brief muttered prayer, the hulking ulfen touched the strange wild-haired tien man with a spell.
Barkskin for +2 AC.
Tsusoku |
Tsusuko looks to the hole, then down each side of the intersection. "... where's the door?"
Chun Hei |
"May Yaezhing grant you the power to destroy your foes"
Chun Hei will cast guidance on Tsuoku.
GM Tektite |
Door number two then?
Tsusoku walks a bit down the tunnel to the east and finally sees the door up the north hall on the intersection. He begins the slow walk toward the door, shield held in front. As he approaches the door, the party hears a faint ringing, before suddenly there is a quick inrush of air, followed by a booming explosion of fire issuing from the hall as Tsusoku is blown backward onto his back.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 4) = 10
10 pts damage. Ref. Save DC 17 for half
Tsusoku |
Was using the Tower Shield for total cover applicable? Here's the reflex, if it isn't.
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Tsusoku |
When casting a cylinder-shaped spell, you select the spell's point of origin. This point is the center of a horizontal circle, and the spell shoots down from the circle, filling a cylinder. A cylinder-shaped spell ignores any obstructions within its area.
It actually should ignore any kind of cover that isn't like a hamster ball. Slam me with that last 4d6. Were it a cone like burning hands, I think I'd be entirely unaffected, but that's not really the case.
Chun Hei |
Cover grants you a +2 bonus on Reflex saves against attacks that originate or burst out from a point on the other side of the cover from you. Note that spread effects can extend around corners and thus negate this cover bonus.
Partial Cover
If a creature has cover, but more than half the creature is visible, its cover bonus is reduced to a +2 to AC and a +1 bonus on Reflex saving throws. This partial cover is subject to the GM's discretion.
Total Cover
If you don't have line of effect to your target (that is, you cannot draw any line from your square to your target's square without crossing a solid barrier), he is considered to have total cover from you. You can't make an attack against a target that has total cover.
Improved Cover
In some cases, such as attacking a target hiding behind an arrowslit, cover may provide a greater bonus to AC and Reflex saves. In such situations, the normal cover bonuses to AC and Reflex saves can be doubled (to +8 and +4, respectively). A creature with this improved cover effectively gains improved evasion against any attack to which the Reflex save bonus applies. Furthermore, improved cover provides a +10 bonus on Stealth checks.
Tsusoku |

All that extra 8 damage means is another two wand charges, really.
Hilarious fact: When I ran this for the local group, I did 15 points of damage. I rolled so many ones, it wasn't even funny. Pregen Valeros barely noticed it.
Tsusuko's shield does very little when the flames encompass his entire person in a swirling mass of fire. He looks back with his slightly singed face as he opens the door (with all burnt hair already reforming.)
"... Door's open."
He then draws a stick and pokes himself with it a few times.
CLW Wand, go!: 1d8 ⇒ 31d8 ⇒ 71d8 ⇒ 7
38/39 HP
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hrolf wrinkles his nose a bit as the smell of burning old man hair.
"Well done..."
Chun Hei |
"I sstill liked the goat plan. Let uss continue though."
GM Tektite |
As the party watches their resident trap triggerer dust himself off and then heal himself. Suddenly a crossbow bolt flies by Chun, clattreing onto the floor. Looking in the direction the bolt came from, the party sees a creature similar to the one near the pipe.

Chun Hei will drag herself across the sewer before yelling at the little flying beast in common.
"Come here sscum." Cast Command: Approach
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
What is this thing? Assuming it's not something that has obvious fire resistance or immunity:
Glaurung hops across the channel and walks toward the creature, chanting a few words in Draconic as she holds her hands up in front of her.
Burning Hands: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 2, 4) + 5 = 18
DC 15 Ref for half.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hrolf begins chanting and focuses on his elaborate tattoos.
Begin summoning.
Tsusoku |
Brick Wall, being out of place for providing his signature wall-like defensive line, moves close to the fight while freeing up room for him to move faster.
Unstrap tower shield from my arm as a move-equivalent and move 30' closer to the fight. I can see the map from my phone at work, but can't move the pieces.
Chun Hei |
Tsusoku: I moved your figure for you.
GM Tektite |
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Tsusoku moves toward the fray.
Glaurung hops the sewer and moves in on the creature, flames sprouting from her hands, but the creature seems oddly unaffected.
Hrolf begins a spell.
Han fires an arrow, but it strike harmlessly against the back wall.
Crossbow Attack on Glaurung: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The small creature fires a crossbow bolt at Glaurung, but the bolt goes wide.
Unnoticed before, two grotesque masses of blubber and rancid flesh move toward the gnome, opening vast maws filled with teeth.

If possible Chun Hei would like to make the blob reroll it's crit against Glauraung.
Either way Chun Hei will move up and aid the Gnome as best she can.
"Do not worry little one, I will not let you be eaten be the blob." says Chun Hei as she artfully maneuvers her blade in between Glaurang and the Ooze.

Brick wordlessly double-moves his way to the square just south of the gnome, drawing his longsword along the way and carrying his tower shield in his hands. His hair begins to thrash around more violently, just as it did in the previous combat.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
#: 1d3 ⇒ 3
With a sweeping gesture of his massive arm, three more golden eagles appear in the air near the melee.
In the air in the spaces between the blob monsters and above the one eating our gnome.
Hrolf barks a sharp command before moving up to bring his spear to bear.
All smite. Add +1 damage if the target is evil.
