Well, phooey." Wembly exclaims as Iso returns from the roof with the bad news.

Where was that other entrance? In the broken tower to the south? Should we try that? Did it look too unsafe? Were there monsters in there?

Wembly will move to the south a bit just to see if anything emerges if/when the impending door bashing may start.

Deciding to leave the work of art alone, the Pathfinders find themselves moving around the strangely built tower and into the ruins to the south of the building. The light of the sun shines through the crumbled walls here allowing you to see freely, though it is much dimmer further in

What at first looked like a cave reveals itself as the foundation of an ancient building. Crumbling stone walls, their blocks blanketed in moisture trails and weeds, slowly give way to the soil of the surrounding plains. The ceiling is partially open to the sky, beneath which shards of fallen stone litter compete for space with small mushrooms and other fungi that grow out of the spiderweb pattern of cracks in the floor. Against the chamber's western wall, the remains of a door made from petrified wood lies open, barely clinging to the door frame with nearly disintegrated hinges.

perception/Survival DC 20:
Examining the floor here you find a single foot print. The boot is clearly one of human proportions but is fairly slender

There seems to be little of interest left in this chamber.

Antonella just nods at Iso’s comment, trying to remain stealthy.

She follows the big man into the next room on alert for traps and threats. At the last moment, she gives the barbarian another strength surge.

“May the Master share His Strength with you, Iso Soturi.”

Just a Note: The rooms from now on are at least Dim Light. I am sure you can deal with it mostly, but just so you are aware.

Perception:

Jorah: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Antonella: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Preparations complete, you move on through the single doorway and into a large chamber. Stone walls stretch between three rounded turrets to form a vaguely triangular central room. Long forgotten elven heroes bearing swords and hunting hawks stand proudly immortalized as marble statues, silently guarding the shadowed alcoves between the towers. A damp, earthy smell rises from the carpet of moss and small fungi that covers the floor. As you enter and gawk, a voice rings out from both statues in unison.

Elven:
"Intruders have entered the tower."

Immediately after the magic voice rings out, there is a burst of energy as a force field covers the chamber. For those of you who meddle in the magical arts you feel your inner knowledge harder to access. Simultaneously, there is a puff of sand launched from the Statues, suddenly Antonella feels sleepy. Fortunately for the Crusader, her will is stronger than most and she fights off the sudden need to sleep

Will: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

You now have one rounds worth of actions. You can hear something approaching, but due to the make-up of the ancient tower, you can’t be sure where it originates

Jorah shakes his head as his mind watches the world return to normal size. "That was...unpleasant. I would like to avoid that in the future." He tries to shake the cobwebs from his head and forget the entire experience.

“Can you channel healing, Jorah? If so, I think we should save your channelling for combat and use my weaker channels out of combat.”

“Jorah, will you please use my scroll of lesser restoration to restore Whiskers’ strength?”

"I'm sorry, but such healing is not one of my blessings, that is more in the realm of priests I believe. But you needn't waste your resources ether, I can restore our furry friend's battered health." He shakes his head politely as she offers her scrolls, instead calling on Desna directly to mend Whiskers. The blue and silver butterfly on his shield flashes, as he rests his hand on the beast's head.

Taking your time in the foyer to heal and restore Whisker's conditions, you move back into the Tower, taking time to admired the intricate carvings in the wood-effect walls. Moving into the Tower off to the side of the main hall, from where the Plant creatures appeared from you carefully step in.

A riot of colourful fungal blooms striped and spotted in bold red, yellow, blue, and purple cover the uneven floor of this round chamber. Several chunks of dimly glowing orange and purple crystal peek through the carpet of mould and puffballs. The lumpy floor is littered with the remains of several horses and humans, apparently discarded here to feed the fungal growth.

Antonella finds a pouch of platinum coins minted in Cheliax in one of the dead people’s boots. She tosses the purse casually to her gnome friend.

“There you go, Wembly! The *ahem* root of all evil.”

The scholarly cleric ponders the clue of the eyeless.

“Intelligent menial slaves working in the dark would find it harder to rebel without sight – but why take the horses’ eyes? They’d be more useful with their vision intact.”

She shakes her head. “I think it’s something else. Worshippers of the demon lord Pazuzu take eyes as trophies. And I believe drow worship various demon lords. If so, our enemy may have divine magic at their disposal.”

"Iso notes how skilful Antonella is at finding money. Very good quality." he nods approvingly.

When the conversation changes to demons he shivers. "Iso does NOT like demons. They are even larger than Iso!"
