Sigurd hacked into the mist-shrouded shaman, and though he was bloodied, he did not fall. Blommhilde chopped forward a moment later, but the mists threw off her aim. Meanwhile, Asta was striking out at her own foe, and felt her spear bite. It didn't go in as deeply as it should have, though, suggesting the unnatural creature was resistant to mortal weapons. The two smaller creatures screeched, then exhaled waves of cold over your group.

Asta Ingedottir |

The cold made Asta ache through her bones. A wave of nausea came and went in just a few seconds, the hunter's hearty constitution fighting it off. She dropped her spear and drew the strange weapon of Jarvi's people. Closing her eyes, Asta intoned a brief plea to the fates, and they responded, whispers tickling the back of the woman's mind. The weapon's weight became familiar in the hunter's hand, as if she were an old soldier, long acquainted with his favorite sword...
"Use the wraith's weapons," she said, almost breathless, "Our mortal weapons do little against these horrors."

Stabbing forward, Eydis managed to get her weapon to bite into the body of the injured beast. It didn't kill the thing, but it did hurt it. Blommhilde and Sigurd darted forward a moment later, only to lose each other - and the foes - within the mists. They'd clearly moved further, somehow, and wouldn't be quite so easy to find.
You can, however, attempt Perception or Survival checks to track them through the fog.

Blommhilde blinked three times. The Northlands did not favor a rigid mind, and she had trained for most conditions. The mist still obscured her eyes, but her hearing became sharper to compensate somehow.
Having lost sight of her companions, she cursed chance for not being able to shield them enough, and rushed to end the fight as soon as possible with a single, striking blow. "Fight me, cowards! All of you against a lone, old woman! I'll do without my ax, if you fear me so much!"

Sigurd darted through the fog, carefully following the tracks in the snow - but as he located one of the shamans, his weapon struck air instead of flesh. Eydis was similarly unable to hit.
Asta, on the other hand, managed to swipe down at the creature... and its skin parted before the weapon like it was little more than straw. The creature's entire body exploded into ice a moment later, leaving only one.

Eydis was unable to bring her foe down. Sigurd, meanwhile, unleashed two rapid strikes but wasn't quite able to bring the shaman down - they were clearly much tougher than the rank-and-file warriors. A blessing of Althunak, perhaps, though they were far from invincible.
Case in point? Blommhilde's thrust, which did bring him down. You knew there was one more in the fog, though, even as Asta wounded (but did not slay) the last of the freezing ice beasts. Screeching, it disengaged and flapped upwards, vanishing from sight.

Sigurd Koshchey |

Keeping a close eye on the ground, Sigurd darted forward and drove his blade into a cloaked figure, who grunted in both pain and surprise at the speed with which the warrior overcame the vision difficulties. Blommhilde followed, but wasn't accurate enough with her strike.

Between your many blows, the cultist finally fell, and the traces of their magic dissipated. Back towards the boat, you heard cheerful battle cries. The battle there wasn't quite finished, but it was drawing to a close, and the cultists hadn't fared too well against the hardy sailors of the Northlands. There was, however, quite a smell of blood wafting up... and, indeed, the water just around the ship had turned red.

Eydis |

"That does not bode well for any one," Eydis mused as she stared at the red water. "No spear can defeat the sea. Let us see what blackened magicks have conjured this, and see if we can slay them before they harm ship and kin." She headed for the shore line.

Asta Ingedottir |

Blommhilde Shieldheart |

Wounds knit themselves until Blommhilde was as healthy as ever. "Tell me if you wish for healing. Sorcerous in nature, I fear, but it never failed me."
She grimaced looking at the blood-red water. "And here I thought wound sea to be but a kenning. Who would have thought our foes to have that much blood in them?"
Assuming there are 90 seconds of free time, I'm back to full health, for 28/60 Fast Healing remaining.

Sigurd Koshchey |

Sigurd joined in the cheerful battle cries, before bowing down to take hold of the Cultist they felled - by the time they would reach the boat, the stragglers would be dead, anyway.
"We shall burn them. They commanded dark magics, and there are stories about spiteful dead returning by force of dwimmer and will in the Sagas, I would not take such a risk with these..."
Even if there is a strong smell of blood, by my calculation I am about 150 feet away from the shore, Sigurd would probably blame the after-effect of the magics/fog rather than the bloodied water for the smell. Unless there's more happening, no reason to hurry back to the ship, yet- ;)

GM Rednal |
Sigurd's words proved to be accurate. The last of the local cultists was slain when you reached about sixty feet away, his throat ripped out by an axe. Hallbjorn spat on the body a moment later, resting his weapon on his shoulder. "Bringing wrath down upon these wretched fools - a fine day's work! Let us ensure there are no stragglers, then see what passes for plunder around here, eh? I suspect there will be no chests of silver, but they ought to have something they no longer need. What do you see in the village?" he called up to a man staring intently over the side of the ship.
"Women and children, roaming free - perhaps the families of these cultists. Men who look like slaves. They do not look like they left many warriors behind, but these wolf-hearted... I hesitate to call them men... are all too likely to be treacherous."

Eydis |

"Do the woman of the village seem armed?" Not all peoples were like the Northmen, who expected those who stayed behind when the warriors went to raid or hunt to be able to defend themselves. Some always left some behind, to defend them, instead. The slaves could likely be discounted, although some of the older children might try to fight - a tricky thing. No true warrior would slaughter a child. But being speared by one would be an ignoble death.

Blommhilde Shieldheart |

"Were they creatures of reason, they would realize how they can't oppose us. Regardless, men or women, those who would not fight may be taken as thralls. If they are worth the trouble they are sure to bring, that is another question."

Sigurd Koshchey |

"They are thralls already, to a dark god that opposes our own. If they threat their woman like livestock, breeding them and forbidding them from freedoms like taking up arms, then we'll do the woman a favor by giving them release in death. There may be hope for the children, if the local tribes agree to take them in - otherwise it would be a mercy to end them, as well...they would slowly perish in this inhospitable lands, left without adults, or grow up seeking revenge and as willing thralls of their god.", Sigurd chimes in, retrieving his Throwing Axes.

Asta Ingedottir |

"Well, we shall see, won't we," Asta says, turning towards the village. When she gets a little ways from the boat, Asta kneels and asks the fates for guidance, uttering a quick plea and prayer, and then untying a knotted rune dangling from her armor - the ruin for rejuvination.
Standing, the hunter walks slowly towards the village, her wounds ceasing to bleed along the way.
Using spritualism power to pick up the life sphere and revitalize talent, and give Asta 3 minutes of fast healing 1.

Sigurd Koshchey |

Sigurd walks close to Eydis, whispering as he cleans innards off his axes using a piece of cloth ripped off one of the fallen:"Both their wounds heal. Slowly but steadily, and by themselves. Do you think they have troll blood in them?"
It's not been that long since they found the 2 woman drifting on the sea...where other, more experienced sailors perished in the waters. So far, there was no reason for distrust, but they both seemed to weave alfar dwimmer, and if there was more to them they kept hidden, he wanted to know.

"I see no weapons - although it's always possible their dark god has gifted them with foul curses or somesuch." the sailor doing the watching said, squinting as best he could and paying too much attention to that to hear Sigurd's quiet comments. "I'd normally suggest a Swine's Head to sweep through the place, but putting men too close together could leave them all more vulnerable to dark powers. Better to ring the place, I think. Are we expecting any innocents to be in there?"

Sigurd Koshchey |

"Innocents." Sigurd spits at the ground "Just remember that choosing to stay weak is not a means of protection. Not from nature, not from gods, and not from warriors. Their whole kind is probably corrupted. If we show mercy wrongly, they will recover and return to take revenge on our children. But yeah, be prepared for anything. Even Innocents."

Asta Ingedottir |

"Very well," Asta says, "Let's ring the village and find out just how innocent they are."
Pulling her bow, the hunter keeps an arrow nocked, and her eyes on the villagers, looking for any hidden threats.

Blommhilde follows Asta, ready to step in front of her should arrows be fired at them.

As you approached the village (a generous term for the place even by Northlander standards, given most settlements ran small), most of the women and children broke and ran, heading towards the forests inland. The prisoners, on the other hand, looked like they were moving towards the far side of the village - they obviously had no desire to be cut down, but they weren't quite interested in fleeing, either, unless it became apparent there was no other way to survive.
