This chamber is in a shambles—old wooden benches lie in ruins along the walls, while rusty chains and bits of rotten rope lie scattered on the floor.
The door across the hall to the east has fallen from its hinges. The rectangular chamber beyond seems to have once been a chapel, but now thick sheets of what appear to be cobwebs drape everything within in gossamer threads.

Brogol cocks his head, his ears swiveling under his hood. Sighing, the boy holds his wrists in front of him. "What're wer doing this fer anyways? What's tha point? Wer all prisoners in our own ways."
Head down, the boy shuffles into the chamber.

Aduard Bookman |

"Hmm - I don't suppose anyone has some form of telekinesis prepared? It'll take me a while to dissolve those spiderwebs using acid."

Dashil Masozi |

Dashil shrugs. "I have half a dozen torches, which is pretty much the same thing..." She doesn't need them for light given that she can see in the dark, but it comes in handy to be able to burn things on occasion.
She looks fiercely at Brogol "I'm no prisoner; don't let the place get to you, OK?"

Sorry for the delay. I thought I posted, but it looks like something ate my post.
As the shackles rise from the corner, Radag throws an ax at them. Unfortunately, the ax clatters off and sticks in a broken bench.
Dashil's thrust strikes home, but does not appear to do any damage.
@Aduard: Knowledge(arcana) in this case. These animated manacles are a small construct, powered by the energies from the spirits of the prisoners. It is resistant to damage (hardness) but is vulnerable to cold attacks.

Aduard attempts a spell, but the ray misses the manacles.
Brogol struggles with the animated chains, and is able to break free!
However, all the noise has attracted attention. Three spiders, roughly the size of large dogs, come scuttling out of the ruined chapel.

Dashil breathes a bit easier as Brogol escapes the shackles. "Good work - but watch yourself, something's heard the noise..."
She swings her sword at the spider, but it just misses a vital spot. Spider anatomy is difficult.

Dashil pivots, catching the lead spider as it moves through the doorway. She slices the arachnid in two, leaving a puddle of goo on the floor.
Radag swings and connects on the manacles. A bit of metal goes flying, but the construct moves again to attack. He manages to avoid the animated handcuffs for now.

Round 2/3
1st: Dashil, Radag
2nd: Manacles , spiders
3rd: Aduard, Brogol
Party is up!

Aduard Bookman |

Aduard stands frozen in horror as he looks at the ceiling, crawling with enormous spiders. Finally, as they close in on his companions he shudders. Chanting at breakneck speed he gestures, and three ghostly missiles manifest and home in unerringly on the spider facing Brogol.

Radag Irefist |

Radag swings at the manacles grunting and cursing at them, Spirits are better off inhabiting the living! Begone you thing!"
Are the manacles tiny by any chance? If they are I think I get an AoO on them.

Dashil Masozi |

Distracted by the sudden move upwards from their foe (and - slightly more than she'd care to admit - by the tombstone she saw earlier with Brogol's name on it), Dashil misses with her swipe at the spider as it passes her by.

The spider's bite - a vicious piercing into Brogol's calf - causes the apprentice to grunt in pain as the poison seeps into his body. The boy thinks briefly about drawing his greataxe and attacking the spider but decides the ghostly manacles are the bigger threat.
Bringing his axe around in an overhead swing, Brogol aims for the chain linking the constraints together, hoping to snap the manacles in two. "Hrnng. Stop squirmin' yerself!"
Move: draw greataxe. Standard: attack manacles (flank with Radag).

GM Alias |

Dashil swings at the spider as it passes, but misses, which allows it to bite Brogol in the leg.
Aduard mutters some arcane words under his breath. As he finishes, several darts of energy slam into the spider, killing it instantly.
Radag swings at the manacles as they move to attack, only to have the chain wrap around the blade of his sword. This is enough to allow Brogol's aim to land true, as he severs the chain in two, the pieces clanking to the floor.
With only the one enemy left, Radag moves into position, skewering the final spider on the point of his sword. It drops to the floor, its legs twitching as the life seeps from its body.
Out of combat!
Unfortunately for Brogol, one of the spiders left him with a nasty bite. He can feel the strength draining from his muscles as the poison works its way through his body.
@Brogol: You take 1 strength damage. Also, I need three more Fortitude saves, DC13. Each one you fail inflicts 1 strength damage. If you make a save, the damage stops accruing.
The room with the manacles only contains bits of iron and rope on the floor, strewn between rotten wooden benches.
The room the spiders came from appears to have once been a chapel, dedicated to Pharasma. After a careful search of the room, the party finds a wooden cabinet on the northwest wall covered in webs. Inside are five vials of holy water, a scroll of lesser restoration, and a wand of cure light wounds (15 charges).

Aduard Bookman |

Not so fast!
"Keep hitting them! We'll need to burn the bodies, but not yet!" yelled Aduard, running to Brogol.
"Brogol? Are you alright? Did it inject you? Stay with me, Stockl. Describe the symptoms. Wait, let me see if I can identify the species."
Aduard looks over the fallen spiders carefully knowledge:local to identify how poisonous: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
"Alright. Spiders like only lay egg clusters every few years, but we need to ensure there aren't thousands of tiny spiderlings inside those webs." Aduard shivers "I hate them the small ones the most. Irefist, Dashil, can you use some sort of stick to pull the webs down? If you can get them to a safe spot, I'll burn them. Work in pairs - make sure no one has a spider drop onto their back." he looks up at the ceiling trepidaciously, before turning back to Brogol.
"Don't move - moving will help the poison to spread. We might need to cut and burn the wound in case it necrotises."
Yes, he's scared of spiders. They're actually very dangerous to a wizard - too small for most spells to detect them.

Radag Irefist |

"The heart beating in Brogol's chest will spread the poison on its own without him moving. There's nothing you can do lest you still his heart. He'll be fine." Radag says walking into the room with the webs to clear them away.
"Look what we have here... Radag says coming across the vials and wand.

The threat over, Brogol drops his axe and sinks to the ground, pulling off his pants as he does so. Now is not the time for modesty.
"Knife! Aye need a knife!"
Fully intending to let the wound, he shudders as the sickness abates a bit. Picking himself off the ground and pulling back his clothes (and dignity), Brogol sighs. "Aye think tha Aye've shrugged off tha poison. Little worse for tha wear, Aye'm afraid."

Aduard Bookman |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Good man!" Aduard recovers from being taken aback by the sight of Brogol's legs. Whether he refers to the boy's quick thinking, bravery or getting dressed again remains ambiguous.
"I do think we should consider calling it a day."

Dashil Masozi |

"It's Brogol's call." The blue-haired woman looks at him keenly (once he's recovered his clothing, that is). "How doing, there? Ready to pack it in, or up for at least the rest of this floor?"
Dashil is keen to keep moving; but she's even more keen on keeping the group together and alive.

Brogol Stockl |

Brogol stands, wobbly, and brushes himself off, blushing, not looking anyone in the eye. "Aye'm fine. Let's move on."

GM Alias |

Let's start with the door to the north, eh?
Several rusty iron tubs sit in this room, along with washboards, metal buckets, and heaps of moldy clothing. A tin chute exits the north wall of this room. It appears to dump into a cesspit behind the building.

Aduard Bookman |

"Watch out! There's something in that clothing!"
Aduard starts to back away, even as he points out the heap to his companions.

Brogol Stockl |

Gripping his axe, Brogol inches forward behind Radag towards the movement in the clothes. The apprentice shakes a little as he holds the axe aloft, suddenly aware of just how drained he feels...
Just realized Brogol's at medium encumberance with the strength drain.

"Haha! I'm self taught, don't be jealous that I'm a better fighter in half your time!"

Dashil Masozi |

"Self-taught, eh? Is that why it got a hit on you before you got your act together: you needed the thump to knock your brain in gear. Now I know."
Dashil is about to swipe at the thing again when Radag cuts it apart (I'm assuming that did for it).
"Right, enough fun. Let's have a look around."

Aduard Bookman |

"Now, now, children." Aduard smiles in relief as the animus goes down "You're both the best".
More seriously he continues "Everyone be careful. Things that are supposed to lay quiet do not here. Anything could be a threat. We will have to think on how best to prepare for more such creatures tonight."

GM Alias |

With a great heave, Radag's sword nearly slices the thing in two. However, it's still hanging on by a thread, and renews it's attacks on the party.
Nope, it's not quite dead yet. So if you want to reconsider your action, you may.
