Player Name: Aldizog
Character Name: Aroden Reincarnated
PFS ID: 108731-7
Faction: Scarab Sages
Day Job: [dice=Craft (Sculpture) of the horrific thing he sees in his dreams]1d20+10About his name, I've never heard that concern before. In his case, he thinks he really is Aroden. He is either a delusional amnesiac, or contains a fragment of Aroden's soul, or has some other explanation. But I would expect the name isn't that rare on Golarion, just as people on Earth sometimes name children after heroes of the past.
Hey, I get that there's people naming their kids Jesus on Earth, but I don't think I've heard "Jesus Reincarnated" yet.
Edit: my NPCs will assume your character is full on delusional. :)

Some discussion about how to handle the identity for the vigilante - would help to assume that the PCs are aware of my "hidden" identity as the Greenblade, so that they aren't surprised when I'm in my social identity as a well-known and respected townie that is known to work with the pathfinder society.
Let me know if anyone has played vigilante before and has a better suggestion.
Aroden Reincarnated |
Aroden understands that not everyone is ready to accept his return, but even so they may appreciate his assistance, his power, his generosity, and perhaps in time his message of hope.
As long as he doesn't mention his nightmares of the Dark Tapestry.
Bram Stonefist |
GM - my apologies for the delay, but I will get my online profiled leveled to 2nd tonight.
Bram actually has 5 XP currently. I don't think I'll be doing much gear-wise. I do have a CLW wand so long as someone can use it (my UMD is not great).
Alezandaru Skenec |
First time playing the vigilante class, so hopefully you all can bear with me. I've considered the ritual itself, and it seems like something Alezandaru would not personally do. I have suggested to Cygar that there was a pre-arranged plan for his other identity to meet them there for the ritual itself and for the remainder of the adventure out of town.
GM PDK |
The entire party has been briefed by Cygar about your undercover operations. They haven't seen your ninja suit yet but they are aware you have skills beyond you let on but haven't witnessed it yet. Imagine the party is the Justice League or the Avengers (semi-secret operation) and that you are Batman or Hawkeye. Bruce Wayne or Clint Barton is the social personae (i.e. without the uniform, when at the inn). But when you step out of town for adventuring, your regular adventuring gear will come out, and you'll drop the charade of being a Bruce Wayne-like businessman whenever you're all alone and no one is listening. When the Avengers or Justice League are out having pizza, out of uniform, they are not different persons. They just wear jeans, act low key and don't use their powers...
Which leads me to another point. In real-life, most people are neutral-like in alignment. If you've ever seen a good-aligned person in real-life (I have), it's quite the sight. There's some kind of energy coming out of (truly) good people... the ones volunteering 3 times a week at the soup kitchen, or building houses for the poor. They are almost larger than life. Similarly, real evil folks (I've seen one or two in my life... arms length and no personal interactions with these thank you) seem to emanate a really creepy vibe and always want to tempt you into doing things that will end up hurting you or your reputation.
So, a good-aligned vigilantes in his neutral social personae is very easy to pull off: like you've done so far, the dude acts normal. When in good vigilante mode, I'm expecting altruism, compassion and a real vibe of goodness will be displayed. That is an exciting part of this class: to showcase what a good alignment should be.

Are you intending to gloss over how we are carrying the lantern now that we have it, just to avoid bogging down discussion?
My character will want to use a bow and switch to rapier at times. Happy to carry the lantern if we can say it is strung from my belt or something.
Otherwise, is there a character in the party that does not need two hands at all times?
GM PDK |
The carrying of the flame is critical for the mission success. It would be unwise to tie it on one's belt after it is lit. Beyond that I will say no more.
GM PDK |
would it interfere with my swashbuckler abilities? if not ill carry it...
Does not interfere. In fact, it adds flair to your character! :)

Update to all my games:
I will be moving tomorrow. I will shut down my PC sometime tonight, and with luck will be back up running by Saturday (Sunday at the latest).
If my home internet goes sideways, I will try to keep up via the Wayfinder app on my phone
Please bot me as necessary.
Findlefarb |
Work has swamped me this week, and next week I'm traveling on business (but will still check in as I can). Please bot me as necessary, and I'll go along with whatever people choose.
GM PDK |
@Findlefarb: I'm guessing you're waiting for versatile performance to kick in hence no ranks in diplomacy? *if* you could apply versatile performance now what would be your diplomacy bonus? (I think it's a silly rule and like James Jacobs I'm partial to allow PCs to transfer their diplomacy ranks to perform at level 2 OR count bard PCs as if they had versatile performance from the get go... it makes little sense from a story perspective that a bard would suck at diplomacy at level 1 and become silver-tongued devil at level 2...)
Aroden Reincarnated |
I'll have reduced access from the 8th through the 16th. Will still try to check in daily but bot me if you need to.
Default is Inspiring Sword; Burning Hands for a swarm, or Vanish on an ally stuck in a bad position (like prone). In either case boosted to CL3 with Arcane Reservoir.
GM PDK |
Glad to know you're ok!
I threw out my knee this Monday and I can now barely walk; heading to the doc at lunch because painkillers don't fix the problem, they just allow you to make it worse! LOL :P
"Spark" |
I will be traveling from Saturday morning until Weds. night (driving up north to see the eclipse). I will try to check in at least once a day, but if I miss a post time, please feel free to bot me to keep the flow going. I don't want to hold up the game.
Alezandaru Skenec |
Really am enjoying the game, but not enjoying the vigilante so much. Likely going to respec before hitting level 2. Probably rogue will make more sense, but keeping the same basic character.
"Spark" |
I will be attending Strategicon from Friday through Monday... Will be able to make limited posts, but not reliably nor frequently... I will try to keep up with at least one post a day, but no guarantees. Please bot me as needed to keep up the pace of the game, thanks.
GM PDK |
Brother Antonidas and Findlefarb: if I don't hear from you by the end of tomorrow I'll assume you've quit this game.
GM PDK |
Findlefarb and Antonidas are out. Let's finish this quickly please before we lose more players. Thank you.
GM PDK |
Ok... this was a crazy week but the next 48 hours should be good. I should be a be able to produce a stream of posts tonight, and perhaps another stream Saturday afternoon.
I'd like to apologize to everyone for dragging this... I tried to finish before Gameday VI but when I wasn't able, I knew this PbP would have accrued some delays.
Luckily, we might be able to finish this before the end of the weekend; chronicles are ready to go...
Aroden Reincarnated |
No worries; three months is about what I thought it would take. I think you've done great all things considered.
Bram, when you have a chance to post, don't forget a Knowledge Nature check on the fungus and a Str check on the door. Aroden has an Enlarge Person spell if needed.
Bram Stonefist |
I'm willing to buy a legal re-roll item. I can't get a t-shirt in time, but I could stop by an FLGS after work today to grab a folio (I've wanted to have one for this reason anyway). I'd then send a photo of it and the receipt to GM PDK if he wishes.
GM PDK |
Do you gents know if a GM can grant a reroll? if so, I'm giving Bram a 2-star GM reroll (+2 bonus on reroll)
If you want to use your own reroll then you need a reroll item I think.
@Bram: you're a 2-star GM as well... I think this grant you a 2-star reroll without a reroll item, if I'm reading the PFS GUIDE correctly...
