Daniel Proudmore Rose |

yes, at -4 attack penalt . Which I always found silly, using the flat of the blade shouldn't effect the to hit lol.

Alexis Von Brant |

Now I know why I never do this. I will just attack and stop when he is down and hopefully not dead.
Once the unarmed man raised his hands Alexis strikes with both blades, trying to avoid any vital spots
short sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
kukri: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

you realize you just attacked a somewhat innocent man, who has no weapons, and had seemingly surrendered in front of a paladin right?

Alexis Von Brant |

Yes I realized that on the way to work and unless the GM lets me change it. I am simply a monster :) That is what I get for typing when I should have been getting ready for work. Though her justification is that she thinks he has set her up in a trap, far as she is concerned it's cool. Really should have gone with the non lethal damage though, blame that on youth and a lack of experience. I look forward to our pending argument over that, it will be fun. I apparently an skilled at causing conflict in groups. I would have fled but most people would not. And I forgot the Paladin thing. You are the first paladin I have actually gotten to play with.

Joneth Revane |

Moving a little to better position himself and allow the others to enter the tower as well, Joneth brings his curved sword to bear against the dog, only to have the animal prove too agile for him despite its wounds.
Round 4, Initiative 12
Hit Points 17/17
Arcane Pool 4/4
AC 18/T 14/FF 14, CMD 16
Fort +3/Ref +2/Will +3
Effects: None
No Action: Take 5-ft. step to -F-10.
Standard Action: Attack the dog.
Melee attack (katana): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage (slashing): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

Daniel watches as Alexis strikes the surrendering Man.
Alexis! Cease at once! The man poses no threat and has all but surrendered. I ask you keep yourself in check, life is not something to risk so easily. I understand if your blood causes you to lean towards certain tendencies but you must rise above them!
Daniel then tries to calm the dog.
handle animal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
good boy be nice now

Thanephos |

Thanephos steps between Alexis and the surrendered man, but doesn't say anything, too intent on the battle at hand. He digs around in his backpack and comes out with a rope, I'm going to tie you up now. Don't resist, and we'll make sure you don't get hurt. We don't want to kill if you don't present a threat.
Map 23

Ty Purgest |

Ty stabbed the dog in round 3, right?
Surprise round and Round 1: run towards the man being attacked (aka, running into the trap).
Round 2: try to bash the door in (aka, "I loosened it for Joneth.")
Round 3: Stab the dog (aka, D&D is a healthy hobby, I promise.)

Athar |

Resigned, the oracle lets a swift orison fall from his lips, lending steadiness to the archer, his magic now reaching farther than it could have before the events the day prior, no longer needing to touch. Still, if he withdrew into the cover of the tower, it would be too far for his spell to reach, and so he remains a target alongside his comrades, reluctantly drawing his weapon, all too ready for the hail of arrows and the dog's aggression to continue.
Cast guidance on Daniel. 5 ft step, draw shortspear.

Nazard |

I'm going to assume Daniel moved up, since otherwise, he can't try to calm an animal he can't see from 80 feet away.
Daniel attempts to calm the animal, but there are still too many people in the way, and the animal has the look of a trained attack dog, rather than a rabid stray.
The dog attempts to retaliate against Joneth, but its lunge is thrown off by the wound in its leg, causing it to nearly fall over.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 - big miss
The "surrendered man" holds out his wrists together to be bound, then flips both middle fingers up at Thanephos and runs off. Ty and Alexis can take AoOs on him if they want. Thanephos cannot, as he had a rope in his hands and no weapon.
And there are more arrows, though this time arrows do not fly out from the north tower.
Targets: Alexis 1, Ty 2, Athar 3, Daniel 4, Thanephos 5
Target Arrow 1: 1d5 ⇒ 2 - Ty
Target Arrow 2: 1d5 ⇒ 4 - Daniel
Target Arrow 3: 1d5 ⇒ 5 - Thanephos
Target Arrow 4: 1d5 ⇒ 3 - Athar
Arrow 1: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 2 = 15 - miss
Arrow 2: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 2 = 17 - miss
Arrow 3: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 2 = 17 - hit
Damage: 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Arrow 4: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 2 = 18 - miss
Due more to luck than anything, an arrow that was about to sail well over Thanephos' shoulder suddenly spirals to the left and grazes his neck, leaving a thin line of blood.
ROUND 5
Everybody's up!

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

well, if the finger giving dude was using a withdraw action, there is no AoO without certain abilities/feats :P #honest Abe

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

Daniel runs past the others at the entrance leave him! Let's see about what it was shooting arrows at us.
he makes a double move up the stairs (staying out of AoO range from the dog)

Alexis Von Brant |

Alexis doesn't even seem to notice the man as he flees. Instead moving into the building and attacking the dog.

Ty Purgest |

Athar |

Advancing past the downed dog to aid his companions, Athar leaves a minor blessing on Thanephos, leaving some small measure of aid for the one among them left most exposed.
Guidance on Thanephos, since Joneth is unlikely to need to make an attack roll/skill check/saving throw during the enemy round with the dog down and Thanephos is the one in the most vulnerable position of us.
Alexis, it looks like maybe your map might not have saved your movement?

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

Daniel will open the trap door, but not go up it just yet.

Joneth Revane |

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

I Love snow, and down here in GA we get very little :( but that sounds like a bit much.
Daniel will poke his head up through the opening to get a better look.

Nazard |

Daniel tosses back the trapdoor, which opens easily enough. Two men in rough clothing and wearing studded leather armour stand on either side of the opening. A pair of shabby bows lie on the floor near the arrow slits in the south wall, and these men now hold longswords steadily in their hands.
Attack on Daniel: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 7 - miss
Attack on Daniel: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15 - miss
Despite the advantage of higher ground, both men fail to connect sword to flesh, one of them catching his partner's sword even more than Daniel's armour.
Four arrows fly out at Thanephos, the only remaining target in the kill zone.
Arrow: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 2 = 14
Arrow: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 = 5
Arrow: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 2 = 15
Arrow: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7
All four arrows miss, though two come close enough to cause concern.
Round 6

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

alrighty then, I guess its time for aggressive negotiations....
Daniel ducks back down and takes a shot at the bandits.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Nazard |

The swordsmen each have an AC of 15 and 20 hp.
Daniel ducks down the stairs and unloads an arrow at nearly point blank range. What should have ripped through the man's torso and out the other side, the arrow deflects off his blade slightly and goes through his shoulder instead. His face goes white and he nearly drops his sword.
Because of the curve of the stairs, Daniel is in the only square that lets you fire arrows up without being hampered by cover. Getting up onto the top floor wouldn't be hard, but both men will get an AoO (with higher ground).

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

hows that? my AC is 19, highest hit was a 15 :P

Thanephos |

Thanephos ducks inside the building, and yells out encouragement to his fellows, Fight on, my friends, victory is at hand!
He'll begin to Inspire Courage

Athar |

Ty Purgest |

Guys, I'm traveling through Sunday night. I won't be able to update the map on my phone, sorry.
Ty muscles his way past Daniel and through the bandits' initial attacks.
"You are under armed and will not succeed. Surrender now, and we will show mercy. If you don't, we will kill you all."
While he waits for a reply, Ty will attack the uninjured bandit.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Nazard |

AoO: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
AoO: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The bad luck the bandits have been having does not seem to have prevented these two from sticking several inches of steel into Ty's innards. Both blades strike home and not simple cuts. Let me know if you want to use his absorb blow ability.
Ty does manage to return the favour, injuring one of them slightly.

Athar |

I confess I'm a little confused. AoOs trigger when you leave threatened squares, not when you enter them, right? So if Ty moves to a square where they're in squares he threatens, then at what point did he leave squares they threatened, given neither of them have reach weapons?

Daniel Proudmore Rose |

He has to climb up the traphole, so while entering the threatened squares wouldn't normally provoke, I do believe that climbing into, or out of, a threatened square does.

Nazard |

He has to climb up the traphole, so while entering the threatened squares wouldn't normally provoke, I do believe that climbing into, or out of, a threatened square does.
This is correct. They threaten the top square of stairs and the square of upper floor that you have to walk through to get up there.
Joneth is up before the bandits.
