Still shocked, Cameron stared at cards from the reading, there was no mistaking the message. He whistled low and muttered, "Oh boy, this is going to get interesting..."
Cameron is a support guy and I've got some nifty toys to help you all out:
Sermonic Performance (AKA Inspire Courage).
Bit of Luck (every time the target touched rolls a d20, they roll it. twice and take the better result. Lasts 1 round)
Luck variant channeling (+1 on one d20 roll).
And all the usual clerical buffs.

Hello everyone. Glad to be a part of this story.
Cameron is a support guy and I've got some nifty toys to help you all out.
Awesome! Cleric is my favorite divine class. :)
Players, please PM me where your character is during the day of the tournament, I have some ideas on how to really get them involved in the Golden Goblin, the city of Riddleport, etc when we start up the gameplay thread.
Sounds good to me.
Borgmurch |
Ok, here's Borgmurch! GM, would you like me to put quick-reference stats under my alias as Yandasana and others do? I usually don't do it, but if it helps you I have no problem adding them.
Borgmurch is a slayer. In combat I'm building him as an archer (and later on finesse flanker). Out of combat he's a trapfinder and rangery/roguey skilled character.
Crunch-wise, it seems there's a lot of overlap with Hal'dorel. Could lead to a fun rivalry I hope. Borgmurch is a successful professional, best rat-catcher in Riddelport! What can the pointy-eared guy say for himself?
Also damn you plan on having a stray dog animal companion. I plan on playing Borgmurch as one who kills (among other things) stray dogs for money. That's just the cherry on top.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
A little inter-party tension (as long as it doesn't get out of hand) just adds to the spice ;)
Nessa Meretrix |
What I am looking at as far as my spell selections are largely compulsions and language based spells since my arcana makes those vastly more useful. I also intend to pick up some area control and at least a few damaging spells. If there are suggestions on what you would like me to have then let me know and I will consider them.
GM Samael Arneste |
Sorry for the infrequent replies, RL job keeps getting in the way this past week. Don't worry though, when we start I'll be able to keep things moving.
@ Borgmurch: You don't need to, I didn't even realize my alias' info would appear, so honestly if I can reference your sheet via alias, that's fine.
@ two skill monkeys: Yes to a friendly rivalry, no to anything that would shatter the party, unless it would move the story along. Like Cameron said, a little spice is good, too.
@ Nessa: Sounds good

I found a listing of all the proper harrow deck cards and put them in my profile. Unless there's an easier way, on these boards I need to roll 1d6 to get the card's suit and 1d9 to get the card's alignment.
E.g. With a flourish, Cameron draws a card!
Suit: 1d6 ⇒ 4Alignment: 1d9 ⇒ 9
Which is The Snakebite, the chaotic evil card of intelligence. It represents poison, venom, assassination, and discord.
@GM Samael, I don't know if you have read the Malazan book of the fallen, but throught that series there's some very atmospheric card readings foreshadowing major events. Something reminiscent of harrow decks also crop up in Brent Week's lightbringer series.
Edit the 2nd Edition Ravenloft rulebox also had some vistani fortune telling cards, with some rules for the, I remember them being pretty cool. Unfortunately I lost all my old 2nd edition stuff :(
Hal'dorel aka "Hal Greenwater" |
@Borgmurch: Heh, you the greatest rat hunter, me the best human hunter, i think we'll have a very good rivalry going on. Wed have to add Nessa to the competition, she's kind of a hunter in her own way. ;)
As for the dog, by the time Hal adopts him as a companion, he won't even look like a stray. Besides, Hal might be able to convince Borgmurch that Inceku could make an excellent war mount...just imagine. Either way, it'll make for fun interactions.
@Cameron: With your dependence upon luck - which Hal would call nature - you'd have to be one of the more intriguing humans to meet...and not hate. :) I've looked forward to a use of the Harrow Deck (actually considering inserting it's usage into a campaign I'm running) so I'll look forward to your take on it.
@Yandasana - I'm curious as to your take on the Investigator as a LE type. The pragmatism of an Empiricist is really interesting to me. I tried my hand at a LN one in another campaign and he shook out to be like Sherlock (Cumberbatch version) w/o the high functioning sociopath.
@Dolgrin - Ours will be the most complicated of interactions, I'm sure. With Hal's deep seating in the old ways of the elves coupled with his two-faced behavior towards implanting himself among the humans as a spy, he's not going to do much for his lack of trust in the pointy eared race. But it's going to be a helluva show.
Nessa Meretrix |
If it's a hunting competition I think I will win since my prey wants to be caught, so I will bow out of that contest.
*bows showing a great deal of cleavage and cheek as she does.

Knowledge (local) with inspiration: 1d20 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (18) + (6) + 8 = 32
In case this is applicable as well for understanding any information before the tournament starts.
Knowledge (Arcana)/Inspiration: 1d20 + 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (8) + (4) + 8 = 20

I'm curious on how all of this is going to play out. Really interesting party composition.
I actually have not seen the sherlock tv show. I have heard good things about the show though.

Indeed!

Do you think that the sleep spell might be a possibility for your character? I can imagine some interesting applications of the spell in a role playing context. :)
Nessa Meretrix |
Never used that spell, but you know what, why not?
<_<
>_>
Is it the 8th yet?
*Giggle*
Nessa Meretrix |
Same, though I must admit getting in touch with my inner flower as I am being an Impatient. ;-P Take your time, I would rather a quality game than a hasty game.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Looking forward to this, only hope I'm still awake when it begins :)
Nessa Meretrix |
He might well not have seen anything since we got started later in the day yesterday.
Borgmurch |
He might well not have seen anything since we got started later in the day yesterday.
That is what happened.
I live in Italy, GMT +1. My posting window is from 6 pm to 11pm, I can usually check and read posts during the day from my phone, but can't really write a good reply.
I'll post in next few hours.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
At the moment Cameron's just cooling his heels with some of his flock. I hope everyone heads inside soon :)
Nessa Meretrix |
I'm good with whatever, we have a couple of threads to wrap up it seems, nothing major though.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Not having played this AP before, I'm really curious how the party is going to come together. It's one of those things that's (probably too often) hand waved in many games :)
Nessa Meretrix |
At least from the sounds of this one it seems to take that into account, least it sounds like it from reading the players guide and looking at the various traits and such.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
I thought I'd find a picture of the outfit I see Cameron wearing. The guy's face is wrong and he has a cloak (with Desna's Symbol embroidered into it), but everything else is right.
Dolgrin Hammerfist |
Did we jump time forward to the evening? I was under the impression it was morning or maybe around noon. Dolgrin entering the casino is in relation to scoping it out so that when he returns in the evening with his employer, he'll know most of the nooks and crannies, danger zones, etc.
Nessa Meretrix |
I think it was always afternoon/evening when we all arrived, but I could be wrong.
Nessa Meretrix |
How much would a pet viper cost? With Nessa's fondness for snakes, and the fact she gets a viper for a familiar at third level, I wanted to find out while I was thinking about it.
Nessa Meretrix |
Hmmm, was looking for that but couldn't find the listing for a price anywhere, must have overlooked it. Mind if I subtract the gold and add that?
Yandasana Fethen |
Really like the characters so far!
Work is killing me (just one more week) I'll post as soon as I can. Sorry guys!
No worries. I am enjoying your posts!

That outfit gives me the initial impression that he is a magician.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Yeah that does look a little like a magician but I was thinking river boat gambler.
Nessa Meretrix |
Nessa's tail looks largely like nightcrawler's from the movies, though it is the same color as her skin and a bit thinner.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
I found a very cool trait, Harrow Chosen. Would fit Cameron to a T, maybe I should have taken a Drawback.
