With one of the threats on the ground floor cleared, the group makes their way back towards the main entrance of the museum and peer into the open room to the west. Long shadows cast by ruined displays and broken furniture litter the floor. A humanoid-shaped figure made of shattered clockwork lies slumped over a bench. Above, an elaborately painted sign reads "Crusader's Chronicles".
To your surprise, you see a majestic tiger standing in the middle of the room - regarding the group intently. Its coat shining vividly, the tiger looks exotic and otherworldly and stands calmly before you, as though fearless.
"হ্যালো, Blakros যাদুঘর দর্শক।," it rumbles in greeting. "আপনি এই সব মাহমুদ কারণ?"
"Hello, visitors to the Blakros Museum."
"Are you the cause of all this mayhem?"
You're speaking to an especially powerful-looking (advanced template) dweomercat, a creature of the First World that hunts new and strange sources of magic.
For every 5 that you beat the DC, you may ask for one piece of information from this list.

It burns up in her hands and she listens to the creature repeat its request.
"Ah, it's asking if we caused all of this mayhem." Evarice clears her throat.
"Greetings. We've been sent to clear up all of this mayhem. Do you know what caused it? We already say a corpse down the hall, wearing furs and blood. My name is Evarice, and I am part of the Pathfinder Society."

Not that it mattered but when grappled you are at -4 Dex so -2 on Reflex saves. The grease no doubt sped things along.
Rogar moves slightly closer during the conversation "Is it a friend or foe?"

"হুম ... তাই কি?" the dweomercat replies, pacing lazily back and forth across the floor...and yet, its eyes remain narrowed as it address Evarice and the rest of the group. "আমার মনে হয় যে জাদুঘরে অচেনা এই জন্য দায়ী...এই মৃত মানুষ আউট যে কোন কর্মচারী বা আমার নিয়োগকর্তার অতিথি ছিল হিসাবে দেখতে হিসাবে।."
Suddenly, the creature stops. "আপনি ভালভাবে কথা বলতে - আমার মাতৃভাষা, কোন কম। কিন্তু কিভাবে আমি জানি যে আপনি এবং আপনার বন্ধু এখানে এই পাগলামি অংশ না? আপনার খ্যাতি আপনি আগে, Pathfinders... যেখানে আপনি যান, বিশৃঙ্খলা সবসময় অনুসরণ মনে হয়।," it remarks, slowly offering what seems to be an approximation of a smile...baring large, sharp teeth.
"Hmm...is that so?"
"Seems to me that strangers to the museum are responsible for this...seeing as how that dead man out there was no employee or guest of my employer."
"You talk nicely - in my mother tongue, no less. But how do I know that you and your friends here aren't part of this madness? Your reputation precedes you, Pathfinders...where you go, chaos always seems to follow."
Evarice addressing the dweomercat respectfully and in its own tongue seems to have earned the group some brownie points but it's not quite convinced of the group's innocence yet...and those bared teeth are definitely a threat.

The dweomercat sniffs at the alcoholic offering...and then suddenly laughs. But it's a genuine laugh and the undercurrent of malice in its stance at last drains away.
"I guess you're right! I've never seen a robber or troublemaker yet who'd offer to sit down and share a drink with a potential foe," the cat responds, now switching to Common. "You'll have to forgive me for the display just now - doing my job and all. But you seem like you're here to help so I'll tell you what I can."
The dweomercat nods towards the central chamber where you fought the owlbear mascot. "I didn't actually see that fur-wearing fellow break in but I'm guessing he and anyone else that might've been with him are responsible for the ruckus. But it's hard to say since I've not seen anyone else in here until you lot arrived."
"Things are really out of sorts, though," he continues as he pads over behind a display and begins swatting and batting what looks to be a round metal object towards you; it bangs and clangs against the hardwood floor and makes quite a bit of noise. Upon closer inspection, it looks to be a metal head, broken gears and springs sticking out of the neck. "Nigel keeps clockworks up on the second floor for pretty much the same reason I patrol down here on the first floor. But whatever's going on, it's damaged them in some way because this one took me for an intruder. Irritating but also fascinating, in a way - I never really understood how they're set up to tell the difference between friend and foe. Maybe it's the wards...?" the dweomercat muses.
Noticing that some of you seem slightly confused by his last statement, the dweomercat chuckles. "Nigel also rigged magical wards outside of the museum. If I remember right, they're supposed to just neutralize intruders so they can be turned over to the authorities. But it could be that whoever or whatever set them off damaged or altered their properties...and if the wards are acting screwy then who knows what it's done to everything else?"
"Anyway, that's about all I can tell you, I'm afraid. If you're here on Nigel's behalf then I won't stop you if you want to keep looking around," the great cat concludes. Then, he bends down and laps a little at the Pale Ale in the bowl. "Mm...it's not magical energy but it's not bad, either. You should come back later, once everything's sorted out here...we can ah, 'discuss' the merits of your alcoholic beverages further," he grins.
________
All right, you've cleared the ground floor by defeating the animated mascot and talking your way out of a fight with the dweomercat! Up the stairs to the clockworks or do you want to venture outside and check out the wards?

![]() |

"Thank you. I am glad we could come to an understanding." Evarice bows. "Maybe later we can talk about the finer points of automated guardians."
She turns towards her companions. "Let's head upstairs, I say. I don't have many tools to fight swarms- I can block them but not fight them."

![]() |

"As intriguing as the mechanical swarms sound, it sounds like the true threat is upstairs. Up we go."

![]() |

In the multiple times I have ran/played this. This is the first lets talk it out. Nice
Jinsa nods in agreement at the situation and how it worked out. "All for the better. So, you want to head up? Or out?
Jina votes to head up as well

![]() |

I have literally never fought the dweomercat in 5 runs of this
Polanco screws the cap back onto his growler and grins at the cat Oi, ya there be an awful lot to debate there, kittae. Lotso nuance and such yup yup Polanco stutters a bit and gives a conspiratorial nod to the cat Discussion could last til the small hours it could.
He then chomps a cigar and heads up the steps.

GM Ladile |

With the ground floor secured, you all ready yourselves and head up a set of nearby stairs that leads to the museum's second floor. "Have fun playing with the clockworks!" the dweomercat calls out cheerfully as you go.
Upon reaching the second floor you can see that gears, glass, and chunks of wax litter the polished wood floor under a sign that proclaims 'Scars of the Lich.' The corpse of what appears to be a Kellid warrior lies in a pool of blood, her furs soaked through. A constant ticking and whirring sound echoes in this area. As the sound of your footsteps reverberate throughout this upper floor, two clockwork constructs come trundling around the corner. Cogs and gears are visible between the gaps of their metallic armor and each one holds a halberd.

Meanwhile, Polanco moves up to join Rogar in fighting against Red. As he does, he waxes nostalgic about his early days of being forcibly removed from various premises and about the weaknesses of clockwork constructs. Or rather, weakness. He recalls that such things are quite susceptible to electrical currents; perhaps something that one of his robed companions can provide?
But not content with just chatting, Polanco also hauls off and gives Red a good smack with his wooden TAIR-BOOT-YAY. A loud and rather comical *BONG* sound echoes through the room as the blow knocks some gears loose - not as many as the dwarf was expecting but still enough to be noticeable.
