GM Kate |
Hey Iseph, since that was a surprise round, you only get one action, but we can hold onto the attack roll for your turn since it was a good one. You also have to make an Athletics check to swim forward, and you can only swim at half speed. Moving you back to your starting position for now.
Remember that the morlamaws are large! The only way to get past the two in front is to swim over them.
ISEPH-4 |
Ah, that standard action rule always throws me.
Athletics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Why couldn't that have been the attack! Lol.
ISEPH swims over the Morlaws, but it doing so, he is forced to break the surface, causing a splash as he flips down in front of the blue priestess.
GM Kate |
You are, but you would have had your armor sealed, so there's no need for concentration checks.
The morlamaws can only stare as Iseph darts over their heads!

Sorry for the absence, everyone, I'm back!
Unsure of his swimming, Id mostly walks along the bottom to brace against the current. He watches Iseph's approach from a distance, preparing to use his magic when conflict breaks out.
Id probably plans to just shoot full-round magic missiles from his current spot, assuming he can see the morlamaws.
Obo Za-Ya |
Obo waits impatiently for ISEPH's signal. He said on his mark, she thinks as she sees him splash over and past the other two to land adjacent to Oshessa. That looks good enough for me!
"FOR GLORY AND FREEDOM!" Obo shouts, hoping to attract the attention of the clearly evil torturers as she lets lose with Muncher.
Attack, underwater: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 2 = 10
damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Halved for underwater = 4
Meh, nice gun, but like that jerk that taught Nonstandard Environment Combat used to say: "Best tool for the conditions."
She drops Muncher to the bed of the stream and draws her doshko in both hands, ready for retaliation.
GM Kate |
So Muncher is an underwater weapon, which means it doesn't take the -2 penalty, and it does full damage. Your 12 actually hits one of the ones in the front! I assume you're targeting Green?
Oshessa takes a guarded step away from Iseph and casts a spell.

Knife: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 2 = 9

But as an android, he just simply isn't used to the sensation of "Pain" and his slash goes wide.

...as space-walrii, aren't Moralmaw ALREADY flat-footed as a species? *ducks*

Have fun at GenCon!
Id raises his hand, conjuring three motes of light, then hurls them at Oshessa. Bubbles hiss out from them along their trails as they slam into the sinister morlamaw.
Full-round cast shooting stars (as magic missile) on Oshessa.
Force Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) + 3 = 12

Raia's missiles join in with Id's as she raises her hands in the water. The missiles arc through the water as they hurtle at Oshessa.
Magic Missiles: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 3 = 11
Obo Za-Ya |
Obo sees the bright Green morlamaw fall unconscious (and begin floating?). When Navasi calls out instructions to focus on Oshessa, she thrashes her tail and tries to swim forward.
Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
But she loses her footing on launch and makes no progress.
She decides to try to move toward Ms. Purple, but
Athletics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
again fails to make any progress in the strong current.
Separate rolls for the 2 attempted move actions. Bah, bad dice!
Next time I can post will be in about 24 hours. If you need to bot her, move her into melee with Oshessa (primary) or Purple. Note that she has the Coordinated Shot feat that gives allies a +1 to their ranged attacks vs an opponent that Obo threatens.

Athletics to swim: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 2 = 8
But the terror tangles her tail in her feet and she fails to move at all. She tries once again to flee from Oshessa....
Athletics to swim: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 2 = 8
but sadly goes nowhere as the dark fear begins to overwhelm her.

Obo sees her friends fighting for their lives. She watches Vixi suffer in silence. She hesitates for the briefest moment in her attempt to swim away.
Athletics: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 2 = 10
But the fear overrides all else, so she tries again anyway.
Athletics: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21
And finally manages to make some headway away from the scary-tusk-lady! But her movement is blocked by Vixi & Raia. She stops, looking into Vixi's eyes pleading with her friend to help her overcome this unnatural fear.
GM Kate |
Luckily, Raia's barrage of magic missiles takes down Oshessa! Id attacks the remaining morlamaw, who promptly surrenders.
The kalo in the cage starts rattling the bars. Did any of you meet Suulhu-Huur before?
Id-Sinitis |
Technically Id has a Chronicle from 1-04, although it's a GM credit. So...yes?
Id rushes over to the cage and asks, Are you okay? What happened?!
Vixi Trixen |
Seeing that Id seems to have the kalo in hand, Vixi takes the time to gently talk Obo down from her frightful affliction, taking advantage of the watery surroundings to swim up to her eye level while she makes soothing noises.
GM Kate |
"Oh, hey, Id! Thank goodness they sent a team. I'm afraid it's just me left. That awful Oshessa poisoned us; the others are dead."
Suulhu-Huur looks considerably weaker than the last time Id saw her.
Navasi, Freelance Captain |
"Let's get you out of that cage, and check on the surrendered persons and make sure the unconscious one doesn't die, right?" Navasi offers as she starts looking around the room for things of importance -- after all, they ARE supposed to be doing an inventory, right?

ISEPH-4 |
ISEPH holsters his weapon and sets to work on restraining any of the Morlaws that might live, though you can tell just by looking at him that he's very tempted to end the mad cultists.
Obo Za-Ya |
With Vixi's kind help, Obo settles down and eventually takes two deep, racking breaths. She touches their helmets together. "Thanks, hon, you're the best."
With that she returns to her normal self, as far as anyone can tell. The Battle Sisters of Gennrit talk about fear being the mind-killer. Gonna have to go look into them more.
She carefully takes her time to swim to and retrieve Muncher from the floor of the cavern. "Does this being to you?" she asks the kalo. "It's quite nice."
Id-Sinitis |
I have an antitoxin, are you still hurting from the poison?
GM Kate |
Raia lets Suulhu-Huur out of the cage. She swims out, a little wobbly.
"It was these ones here, and Teltham, the big teal one. I think the rest were oblivious to what was going on." She looks sadly at the gun that Obozaya presents. "That belonged to Ushuul. You should continue using it; it would honor him. I don't suppose you found my cryopike? Not that it does much against them; it turns out they're cold-resistant." She passes on Id's offer. "Thank you, but I think I'll be okay now."
Obo Za-Ya |
"Yeah, we did see a cryopike. Same place we found this."
Obo then reminds her team that they never did check out that other big room. The one guarded at one end, and trapped and locked at the other.
"So, what's the plan now?" she asks, looking to Vixi mostly out of loyalty. But there's these other feelings she has for the halfling. She's just not sure what they all mean. Ugh. Feelings are hard. Sort it later, ya big dummie.
