Mitran Disol |

As Mitran and Bo enter the area, Mitran calls to Bo to attack Ythel.
Get him, Bo!
Bo takes a wide path around the creatures ignoring them, trying to get up to the plateau. Avoided AoO by moving along wall.

GM IronDesk |

Bo bounds past the fleshy creatures and rounds the pedestal, only to come face to face with a grotesque heyena like creature with glowing eyes crouched in wait on the steps leading to Ythel...
The fleshy creatures emerging from the pit are lemure devils - the least of devil kind - though these seem even smaller and less impressive than the stories you recall. You know that they are vulnerable to silver, however their tiny semi-conscious minds are immune to most mind-affecting magic.
Whatever Ythel was doing as you entered the chamber that caused him to sprout a mane of hair is nothing you have encountered before, but it did seem as if some demon or spirit was in the act of possessing him. You also recognize both Braalite and Tuathic runes scrawled on the walls around the cavern.

GM IronDesk |

Wilf and Wulfric lead the charge into the cavern, with Mitran a few steps behind. Wulfric's polearm cleaves into one of the foul creatures before him. Much of the force of his blow is absorbed by the thing's viscous flesh, and it shambles forward, reach out with its twisted clawed hands and a piteous moan.
Bo and Tomi sprint up either side of the cavern, trying to get to the rocky pedestal and save Father Ruan from Ythel's mad ministrations. Bo rounds the corner of the pedestal and comes face to face with a snarling hyena. Its eyes glow with a hellish light and boney spines thrust forth from beneath its shaggy mane.
The Dark Fane – round 2
As Wilf Tomi and Bo get closer to Ythel, the unsettling presence that seems to have possessed Ythel tries to seep into their consciousness.

Round 2 recap
Tomi ignores the feeble clawing thing behind him and sprints behind the alter…
Lemure AoO vs AC14: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 = Miss;
… Stabbing at the hyena savaging Bo, but fails to find purchase with his blade. Tomi, please double check where I moved you on the map, looks like you were one square short of reaching flanking position ( though your attack would have missed with or without the bonus)
Wilf lands a crushing blow on the mewling devil-spawn before him. Bits of gooey flesh fly in all directions, but somehow the thing continues to struggle forward.
Mitran likewise carves a gash in the creature facing him that would have felled a mortal man, yet the thing merely mewls piteously and comes at him again. Bo struggles against the hyena, biting at its infernal hide. ( Bite hits)
Wulfric weathers the scratches from the creature advancing on him and swings his pole arm to his left, knocking the devil-spawn attacking Mitran onto its back.
Hound dashes forward and attacks the lemure attacking Wilf, but wimpers and whines at the unattural foe, snapping his jaws ineffectually.

Okay, there was a lot of info in my last post and it looks like a few things may have been overlooked.
Wilf: The 15' cliff between you and Ythel requires climb checks. If you double move and pass two DC 10 climb checks, you end your turn 11' up the wall. If you quick climb the wall you can get to Ythel, but must pass two DC 15 climb checks.
Vilesse: After your successful saving throw vs the channel you are left with 0 HP. Casting the hex will drop you to -1, unconscious and dying. Is that your intent?
Mitran: Need Will saves vs DC12 from Mitran and Bo to resist Ythel's channel ( 3 hp pass; 6 hp fail)

Vilesse |

Vilesse: After your successful saving throw vs the channel you are left with 0 HP. Casting the hex will drop you to -1, unconscious and dying. Is that your intent?
I did, indeed, miss that. That said, it's either go unconscious at 0 hp and be stable or take one last shot and try to take down the bad guy, then try to stabilize with just a -1 penalty. So she'll go ahead and take her shot and go down.

Round 4 recap
Tomi swings wildly at Ythel, but he turns and parries the blow easily with his own sword.
With the Lemures around him all dead, Wilf sprints to the rocky pedestal to help his friends there. He finds Mitran on his knees at the base of the stairs desperately trying to staunch the flow of blood from his mauled bear companion. Mitran himself is not looking to be in great shape either. Blood oozes from the druids ears and nose from the same wave of dark energy that killed most of the lemures. Perhaps worst of all, Wilf finds his way up the stairs blocked by Tomi.
Botting Wulfric Wulfric steps back and tries to sweep the last lemure off its feet…

Hound will Defend Vilesse.

GM IronDesk |

The staircase is under Tomi and Ythel...
Tomi kicks away Ythel's sword, as Wilf runs up the stairs to join him. Together they surround the fallen priest and menace him with blade and club as he groans and tries to stand.
Below, Wulfric hustles toward the raised platform. Mitran finally gets Bo's injuries under control and Hound stands guard over the unconscious Vilesse.
Intentions? Tomi and Wilf can take AoOs on Ythel as he tries to get up.

GM IronDesk |

Ythel looks up into the stony glares of Tomi and Wilf and flops down on his haunches, defeated. He drops his face into his hands and begins to weep and shake. The tawny mane of hair crowning his head and shoulders vanishes, leaving a soft, overweight priest blubbering at your feet. At the same time the body of the hyena at the bottom of the stairs dissolves into ether. Its not fair! Ythel wails. [/b]Its not! He ruined my life![/b]

GM IronDesk |

Ythel is shocked out of his self pity by the abrupt directness of Tomi's question. He looks at a loss for an answer for a moment, then his puffy red face twists into a sneer. Braal provides, he responds. Then Wilf is yanking him to his feet and marching him down the stairs, where he and Wulfric bind and search him.
Mitran rushes to the Alter and starts cutting free old Father Ruan. The Curate is covered in burns and innumerable small cuts, and his robes are bloodied and ripped, but he is lucid and manages to stand with Mitran's help. I'm so sorry, he whispers. Oh Ythel my poor boy, I'm so very sorry.
The group gathers their gear and their wounded and makes the long trek back up to the priory. Thomas, Malvenos and the others greet them eagerly, overjoyed to see Ruan safe and sound, Though short tempered Thomas has to be held back from Ythel once his full role in the night's events are revealed.
Once rested and reunited with a holy symbol of Darlen, Ruan heals the party of all the wounds they received rescuing him. The storm lasts for another day before tapering off to a point where travel is an option. Malvenos seals up the undercroft, and ythel is locked in one of the empty cells. During that time the party and the priests of Darlen discuss what to do with their captive. Thomas wants sift justice done and demands that Ythel be executed immediately as a traitor and a heretic. Malvenos looks like he wants to agree, but Ruan will have none of it. He says that Ythel's fall is his own failing and insists that he can redeem his former student given enough time and care.
Weigh in on the debate to determine Ythel's fate, and resolve any other loose ends you may have at the priory now..

Corporal Wulfric Uren |

" I agree with Tomi, we have two sets of issues here; Father Ruan's scourging of Ythel and Ythel's violence against you all. I think that any punishment must be agreed on together. Darlen is the god of law and judgement, should this not be a question of what the law requires. "

Vilesse |

Vilesse sighs. "My guess is that law and common sense would agree here. Ythel killed several people, tried to kill several more, then abducted Ruan and tried to kill him. All while consorting with both half-goblins and demons. Has he given any indication that he intends to turn away from Braal and give up his dark powers?"

Wilf the Shepherd |

"The fact that Ruan did something wrong doesn't in any way excuse the crimes here. Ythel has to pay for his crimes. Once he has been tainted by Braal, I don't see anything good coming from him. Best that he be stopped from being able to cause future harm. "

Tomi Petric |

i make no excuses for Ythels behaviour - the only he reason he still lives is thanks to his abject surrender. Were it my tribe he'd be cast out at the very least.
that doesnt mean Ruans acts were justified though...
Tomi shrugs his shoulders and sighs.
but if father Ruan is willing to forgive, then do we have the right to consider any less? after all, he has suffered more than any other by Ythels actions.
