Just a few reminders:
Character sheets can be posted on your profile if they are clear and concise enough. Just don't make it where I have to read something longer than the dictionary ;) If you like, you may submit them via google docs. The only reason I'm being a stickler about this is because I have to check them for legality.
If you haven't already, please download and read through the guide which is here.
Also, please obtain your Pathfinder Society number as well if you need it: click on the Pathfinder Society logo on the left of the page, then find My Pathfinder Society and register for your number there.
You'll have the weekend to get this done and we'll be ready to go on Monday.

Hey guys, sorry for being a super noob but I have a question. I made my character as a message board alias and am now trying to register him as a PFS character. But it won't let me, it keeps saying that name is taken. So I check the user search and it bring up my character. Need guidance please help!

So, if I read correctly, we are:
- Simon Rivers - Haunted Oracle
- Hairy Avenger (alias TBA) - dwarf stonelord paladin
- Cedric - half-orc zen archer (ranged monk variant)
- Aesantiel - elf monk
- Elross Kuthburn - human (varisian) fighter
So - if we have to thump it, no problem. We've got one decent 'face', maybe another depending on HairyAvenger's build (don't count Aesantiel - she's got some decent CHA and skills, but no social common sense). Simon's also a decent healer.
Deficits: skill/trap monkey, knowledge monkey, arcane caster, utility/support.
I don't see many 'use magic device' levels, so not so much with using magic items (...found ones...) to make up the deficits.
So - my first thought... "rule 1: save the oracle". My next thought - rotating polish-landmine duty (whose turn is it to open the door now?)
any other thoughts to mitigate/minimize our deficits?

Alright, we're coming along here. I haven't gotten around to much since I just got off work. When I wake up, I'll start reviewing characters. In the meantime, before I forget (again), if you have any abilities, traits and whatnot that come from a book other than the core rule book, please make a notation of it somewhere I can see it. I'm not trying to nitpick, but I have occasional moments of "geezerdom".

Just to let you know for when we get there: my fillable Chronicle sheets have a drag-down menu that put in a faction for you (apparently, a default blank was too strange a concept) . So either a)I stick Andoran on there and you can disregard it, b)I can hold off on Chronicle sheets until we finish all 3 sessions and I fill it with your chosen faction then, or c)do option a and then send you correct reprints later.
Let me know which option you prefer.

Just fill in mine with Silver Crusade and send it that way.
As for party deficiencies, the First Steps were written for groups of brand new characters who don’t necessarily know the benefits of party structure. Not having a caster or skill monkey may be annoying at times, but shouldn’t be session breaking for us.
As for confusing character items, I used several Race options from the ARG. Those are probably the only things you may want a reference for.
Looking forward to standing in the back of the party with you, Simon.

Mine can be filled with shadow lodge.
I was trying to do something a little more interesting and groundbreaking with the build last night. I figured out what I wanted to do worked a lot better with a cleric though and kind of reverted back to a standard healer. Once he gets a few levels though he'll be a potent offensive spellcaster.
Yep, will most likely be standing in the back unless I am talking to someone. Hopefully I won't have to use my spear, haha.

@GM Fortuna: Apologies - I missed that in my review for 'standard stuff'. Let me know if I need to pull the Society trait...
Grand Lodge Traits
Observant: Sometimes it helps to pay attention to your surroundings and the people you meet. Choose either Perception or Sense Motive. You gain a +1 trait bonus on all checks for the chosen skill, and the chosen skill becomes a class skill for you.

Eh, it's a sticky situation. You're not allowed faction traits prior to completing First Steps. If you can keep it straight, don't bother removing it. However, if it gets confusing just leave the slot blank until we're done with session 3. I am assuming you'll be joining the Grand Lodge faction, correct? If so, I'll send your Chronicle sheet with Grand Lodge under your faction.
Seriously, I need to read more...

Not a problem, I'll just drop it and republish. It'll be up tonight.

Grand Lodge makes most sense for Aesantiel absent context. Three modules of context may change that. If the Society Society demonstrates itself to be failing to live up to its ideals, I could see her in Shadow Lodge in a heartbeat. Other factions... not so much. Maybe (maybe) Osirian. That's why we play - and allow the characters to develop :)
And your reading's not deficient. Tools for slicing and dicing (like d20pfsrd.com and hero lab) really help the exploring process. ...and I'm a nerd.

If I get rid of the heart of the fields part, which is part of the country folk (ARG I believe) then I still get my skill point. 13 int gives me a 1 modifier. My class has 2+ int which is 3.then if I don't take heart of the fields,I don't lose my extra skill point for being human, so that's four. Then my focused study replaced my bonus feat with skill focus.

Correct and that is perfectly fine.

Gameplay thread is now open! Have fun and remember these two rules:
1) Respect spoiler tags. I know every GM says this and I'm sure a few of you know why. Don't diminish the fun with your curiosity. It is easy for player knowledge to be passed off as character knowledge.
2) Do not spoil the adventure. Some of you are familiar with First Steps, that's cool. However, if you need to ask me a question that might spoil the adventure, PM me. If you act like you are a little too well-informed (i.e. doing things to complete encounters that follow no train of logic), I reserve the right to remove you from the group.

Alright, heart of the fields removed. Changed a couple things around, updated back story to support. And just to be sure, am I okay to take my two traits now if neither of them are faction traits, or can I only have one for now and have to take a faction trait later? I will be choosing faction the Silver Crusade. Please let me know if I need to do anything else.

google docs/drive told me i was not permitted, but provided me with a 'request access' link. this may have been because I was already signed into google-stuff at the time, and it knew who to send the request from.
It sounds as though GM Fortuna hit the "share" link without specifying visibility.
