Kennick rushes through the fire to get to the human. Flames touch his clothes and they catch on fire! Alrik steps in and grabs the box and manuscript from the table while Teloish cures the atomie. She opens her eyes and tries to move, but you did a good job of tying her down.
Jeb does what he does best: conjuring water to put out the flames.
Next to Kennick a humanoid appears, it has a battleaxe in one hand and is wearing a breastplate and pushes Kennick into the flames!

Being on fire: Take 1d6 fire damage at the start of your turn. If desired, the target can use a full-round action to attempt to extinguish the flames before taking this damage. Extinguishing the flames requires a DC 15 Reflex save. Rolling on the ground provides the target a +2 bonus on the save. Leaping into a lake or magically extinguishing the flames automatically smothers the fire.

Glancing over to see what was going on, Theolish could not make out what the new threat was that appeared in the hut.
Not sure if I can see it in the hut but if I can, then Slumber hex on it, DC 16 will

"Oh no you don't! No cooking Kennick today!"
Jeb conjures water and douses Kennick. Jeb uses Basic Hydrokinesis.

"You dirty rotten piece of work - hiding in here like that. I think it's time to teach you a lesson"
Alrik drops the box & manuscript outside the building and stomps around to slice at the new figure.

Preferably in a flanking position but elsewhere if not. Not sure if the table is obstructing movement or not. Perhaps difficult terrain? I think Alrik can still make it into position.

Kennick steps up and attacks the creature, but he is too late... Zaarah has already killed it. Together you douse the flames, and besides the masterwork battleaxe and the breastplate you find some other things.
Alrik opens the manuscript and finds it is written in a combination of Taldane and a language he does not understand Linguistics please. untrained allowed, but capped at 10. I assume no-one knows Druidic.
Outside the small fey is stirring "Hey, are you going to just abandon me here?"

Alrik examines the potions. ”Hey! These might come in handy!”
He picks ups the scrolls as well and has a look... ”Not so sure about these though...”

Alrik and Teloish work together to understand the document and find the following information: the lorestone is keyed to druidic circles, and one lies several hours’ travel north from the hut on a lake island; a band of fey has recently been harassing Hemzel and threatening to destroy the lorestone; Hemzel assiduously avoided exposing the lorestone to sunlight; the sun’s rays striking the lorestone inside of a druidic circle disintegrates it.
From the discription you received from the Venture Captain it is obvious that the dead man is Hemzel. You sit together studying the journal and the other items when a gnome enters the hut. Behind him you see three other gnomes. The first one halts in the doorway, takes in the scene, and yells back to his companions "Bandits! They killed Hamzel and are riffling through his things!" he reaches for the short sword he carries at his side and draws it...

![]() |

"What, do we look like bandits? No sir, we are here to help and would gladly accept your help to solve this incredible crime!"

Alrik looks to the others to speak. He is sure that if he opens his mouth and he will say something......indelicate.....and it will almost certainly end in more fighting.

![]() |

"Nope. We're not bandits. Him there, he's the bandit." Jeb says pointing at the other corpse in the hut.

![]() |

Kennick sheaths his scimitar and holds out his hands palms out.
"As my friends said we're not the bandits. When we got here Hemzels hut was under attack"
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 14

GMG |

"Yeah right, you're not bandits. Why are you riffling through his stuff then? I recognize his journal and those are the scroll cases I gave him last year."
You can attempt another diplomacy check with your roleplay

"Stop insulting us! Give up your arms and we will turn you in, if not we will kill you where you stand!"
The gnomes have all drawn their weapons and move into the hut.
And you can go for another round of diplomacy checks if you want

Zaarah is now calming down.
"I am quite certain the minute long exchange that we are having here already showed you that we mean no harm. Please let us trust each other."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Jeb takes a step further into the hut. "Do ya'll know who this is?" Jeb asks the gnomes pointing to the humanoid who had attacked them.

GMG |

The gnome slowly lowers his blade and puts it away while one of his fellows examines the humanoid "Boomruppel, it is a dark fey, one of the unseelie!
The gnome at the table sighs "I am sorry, but I hope you understand that coming into her and seeing Hemzel dead and you going through his stuff made me think you did it. I am Boomruppel and I have been friends with Hemzel for years."

GMG |

"Thank you" he goes to say his farewell to Hemzel and then returns to the table, where the open box is still sitting. The gnome pales "Don't tell me they took the lorestone! Did you question that atomie you have tied up there? What do they plan to do with it?"

![]() |

"The lorestone? You mean they took the lorestone?" she says and looks at the other Pathfinders with horror in her eyes.
"Who took the lorestone??? And no, we have not questioned the atomie, yet. But please be our guest. We did not want to hurt it but it attacked us. Maybe we can talk to her together?" Zaarah says in a dreamy voice.

![]() |

Zaarah bows and walks to the little atomie and if necessary enables her to speak. "Hello young atomie, may we ask why you attacked us and do you potentially know where the lorestone is?" she says with a calm voice and smiles.

"Oh Kennick, I am sorry that I did not tell you before that Hemzel - that we wanted to visit today - had informed me that he had acquired a lorestone from somewhere in the Verduran Forest. You know Kennick, the Lorestones are somehow connected to a druids' knowledge of the environment. Hemzel had called us to help him protect the loretone but he was very secretive about it. He wanted us to come here and take the lorestone to safety for a while. Now, dear Kennick, dear atomie and dear gnome friends we need to find the lorestone and fulfull Hemzel's wish: take the lorestone with us to protect it." Zaarah says with a dreamy voice.

Jeb scratches at his beard. “Unseelie?”
“Sorry for your loss.”
“Where’s the lorestone?” Jeb asks the atomie.

GMG |

The gnome looks at Teloish "Why?" while the atomie starts to splurt information
"“Cyflymder said Hemzel was going to lead the humans to destroy the fey! So we pounced and surprised him. Cyflymder and his brutes tore the druid apart. His poor wolf friend too! So much blood!”"
It seems the atomie is both disgusted and exited by what it saw.
"Cyflymbder is a great, bold fey. He’s promised to clear the Verduran Forest of the scum who stole our heritage. I think he is cruel—it would be better if you fled on your own, wouldn’t it? He went north to a druid circle so he could destroy the lorestone.”
The gnome pulls himself away from Teloish' eyes and says "It probably means the druidic circle that is some ten hours walk away from here. It is a nasty, dark and cursed place if you ask me. If you depart quickly you should be able to reach it just prior to dawn."

![]() |

"Yes, let us depart immediately! And you litte atomie will accompany us! But are you gnomes not coming?" Zaarah says in a calculated manner.

GMG |

"You seem to better prepared to take on this kind of thing. We will take care of old Hemzel's body and hold a wake for him. It is the proper thing to do"
The atomie seems not too happy about accompanying you "But... but... I have never been there! I don't know anything! Please, Cymflymder will be very angry if he sees me with you, please let me go?!"
Now would also be a good time to heal up if you want, some of you are wounded

![]() |

“You will come with us and tell us all you know about your fey aggressor so that we can apprehend him. “

![]() |

"Yes let us "apprehend" him....and quickly."
Are we travelling overnight? or day travel? Is there going to be an opportunity for class ability reset?

GMG |

it is now evening. You read in Hemzel’s journal that a lorestone would be destroyed if held within sunlight in a druidic circle. It is a 10 hr march to the circle. Resting is up to you, but you know you are not likely to reach the circle if you rest.
