Alistair turns to the others behind him...
Well so much for being quiet. It is now or never and I am going in. Nik go and help Trisane get out of the water, you are the only one that can help him if that shark comes back. Ophelia lets get some light and move in. Watch the hole and keep your eyes open. He will turn and attempt to jump across the hole in the floor.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

If he does make it across he will aid Ophelia if she comes across.

The air in this large room is somewhat chilly and stinks of the river, no doubt thanks to a huge opening in the floor that drops away to the river shore five feet below.

Alistair momentarily has a hold on Trisane, but as Traisane falls he pulls free of Alistairs grasp. The lanter swings wildly illuminating the room beyond and undernieth this level momentarily, then there is a loud splash from the darkness below you and Trisane's lantern goes dark.

Alistair jumps over the missing section of trapped platform and waits to help Ophelia.

Does anyone else have a light source?

Everyone provide me a perception check...Trisane 2 please.

Alistair momentarily has a hold on Trisane, but as Traisane falls he pulls free of Alistairs grasp. The lanter swings wildly illuminating the room beyond and underneath this level momentarily, then there is a loud splash from the darkness below you and Trisane's lantern dims as it is swallowed by the waters of the Jeggare. A moment later the light resumes its wild swings under the fishery, randomly lighting the shore, the river and the room above.

Alistair jumps over the missing section of trapped platform and waits to help Ophelia.

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Ophelia sighs as Trisane falls into the water. Off to a great start

She nods at Alistair, and reaches into a pouch to grab a coin, she tries to cast quietly, and soon the coin begins to glow with light. She cups it in her hand to shield most of the light and exams the trap before attempting to cross it.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Perception #1: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Perception #2: 1d20 ⇒ 7

She is casting light on the coin and trying to dim it as much as possible

Ophelia can nimbly jump over the missing section of floor. Her coin illuminates the hole and splashing Trisane below.

Trisane:
You splash into the icy waters of the Jeggare. Fortunately the current has swept away most of the garbage that accumulates along the banks and under buildings. The cold would take your breath away, but Sable Company cadets have been dunked, and often and your training prevents you from taking a big gulp of water. Fortunately your feet find purchase on the riverbed. You stick your face and hands up above the water, but your face is full of water and riverslime and it will take a moment to get your bearings.

Ophelia:
Between the wild swinging of Trisane's alnter and your own light; you see something that sends a chill down your spine. Slowly slipping off the bank and into the water is Gobblegut, Lamm's pet alligator. Clearly it has been eating well, as the creature you remember as being about the size of a large dog has grown to a creature well over 10' long. And the monstrosity is heading for an unsuspecting Trisane.

Nik:
The shark is away at least, and Rom is still calm and relaxed. It is good to know someone hasn't run into any problems.

Grand Lodge

Ugh. Well this is just perfect! Didn't see that coming. What have I gotten myself into now? In fact, I can barely see anything... I gotta get outta here.

Trisane stands as best he can, wipes some river slime off his face and takes a few moments to collect himself and his crossbow before the current does. He draws out a grappling bolt with a silken rope attached and begins to reload.

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Trisane, move! Ophelia speaks into the open trap. She points toward the bank, and starts chanting, readying a spell. That can't be! It's huge! It's going to swallow him whole!

She's preparing to cast daze (Will DC 14) if she gets a good look at Gobblegut. Her bloodline allows mind-affecting spells to work on animals, magical beasts, and monstrous humanoids

Ophelia targets Gobblegut with the daze spell. The crocodile seems to stop and float downstream, away from Trisane, with the current for a minute.

Alistair scans the area and not seeing anything out of the ordinary starts to move forward when he hears Ophelia's warning.
first a shark and now a damn alligator....ah &$^%# me
Alistair looks down at the scene before him, noting the distance between him and the alligator and the alligator and trisane...
He will judge the distance and preparing to jump onto the alligator.
Ophelia's spell stops him as she casts it.
My thanks Lady Ophelia...I am not too fond of being a dinner guest to an alligator.
Looking down at trisane
Are you ok?
If the area is clear and no one is around he will aid in getting trisane up.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Grand Lodge

What the hell is that?!

Trisane turns to spot what Ophelia's yelling about.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Definately time to get out of the river!

He aims and fires his crossbow at an upward angle.

Crossbow vs Ceiling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

When he hears the sound of a satisfying thud, he drops his crossbow to its fate and grabs hold of the rope with both hands to climb with haste.

Climb: 1d20 - 7 ⇒ (1) - 7 = -6

He fails miserably to escape, slowly sliding back down into the river.

C'mon Trisane! Get it together! This is not the glorious death you deserve.

He looks up at Alistair and speaks with a good deal of frustration.

Definately NOT ok down here... Don't just stand there! Do something!

Male HP:76/76 AC:30 T:20 FF:21 F:+8 R:+14 W:+7 Perc:+12 Init:+10 Swashbucklers Rapier +19, 1d6+10 CMB:+9 CMD:+25 Human Swashbuckler 9 (Inspired Blade)

are you humbled now?...starting to wonder if you really are a marine
Hold on a second while I get your rope
Alistair will retrieve Trisane's rope and find a better location to tie it off.
Looking to the others...
I am going to need help pulling his water logged as* out of the drink. So one of you help me and the other keep watch.
I will take 10 on the climb check to aid if I can which will be a 10
We are going to pull you up now. Start climbing quickly

Trisane used a grappling bolt, so it is lodged firmly in the ceiling above, there is no loose end to tie off.

Allistair - if you want to simply try to lift Trisane up using the rope, you can try that with Nik's help.

You start pulling the rope to lift Trisane out of the water, downstream Gobblegut seems to be coming to his senses and has started swimming upstream towards breakfast, eg Trisane.

Rd 2

Alistair and Nik heave on the rope, Trisane - another climb check.

Grand Lodge

Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

It's no good, too slippery.

After a second unsuccessful attempt, Trisane grows impatient. He let's go of the rope and turns to face his enemy.

It was a mistake to bring them into this. Could really use some real backup right about now... I might be on my own here.

Trisane draws his longsword as he moves toward shallower water to get better footing and prepare for an attack.

Looks like we do this the hard way! Nik, Ophelia... shoot it!

Male HP:76/76 AC:30 T:20 FF:21 F:+8 R:+14 W:+7 Perc:+12 Init:+10 Swashbucklers Rapier +19, 1d6+10 CMB:+9 CMD:+25 Human Swashbuckler 9 (Inspired Blade)

Alistair will prepare to do what he originally intended...jump onto the alligator as it goes by...
hehe and he thought he was better than everyone else
Well I guess you will need some help afterall...
What the &*^$% am I thinking jumping onto a alligator
I will use my rapier to attack it as I jump on it from up above..
Trisane move over to your left about 10 feet more, that will give me room to come down....and pray this works

Climb is a move action (a double move for climb requires 2 checks), so...
Trisane you still have a move action in rd 2; you can use that to move towards land. Do so on the map.
Alistari and Nik-bot used move actions for rd 2 to try and pull Trisane up (which would require free hands) - you have empty hands but a move or standard action.

Ophelia still has a full rd 2 action. Move yourself into the room whereever you would have gone, either side of the trap is ok.

The Aligator has acted in rd 2; he is not in the room, but in the water below - position is correct otherwise.

When we get to Rd 3; Alistair can jump on Gogglegut; treat this as a charge, +2 Attack, -2 AC for rd, you will end your movement in a random adjacent square.

Grand Lodge

Using remaining move action to get to the shore and draw my longsword as part of it (+1BAB). Mini moved about 10' positioned behind a piling.

Move towards it while it's in the water? Are you crazy? I said shoot it!

That lunatic's gonna jump isn't he? He's definately insane... also ignorant but maybe not as much a coward as I first guessed. Sure, c'mon down Mr. Fancy Pants. Let's see what you can do. The more the merrier.

I wonder if he washed out and has borrowed his dads uniform
Hey now do not bite the hands that are trying to save your arse. Calm yourself marine!
Alistair is all smiles.
I guess you were polishing your boots during tactics class. I humbly suggest that you move towards me and keep that piling between you and Mr. Teeth. When he moves in towards you I can jump down to put him between you and I.The others can lay down some crossbow fire or would you like to fight it alone while Ophelia and Nik attempt to shoot it.
or
or nik could come in use right about now
Nik are you able to do your voodoo witchcraft magic thingy on the alligator...like you did with the shark
if you can do so please
Alistair is waiting for the alligator to be in position

Going to wait for Monday for Nik and Ophelia

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Not good...not good

Ophelia will split her attention, readying to fire a bolt at the crocodile, and paying attention for movement in the room.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Ophelia is fixated on Gobblegut - despite her desire to scan the room, the haunting memories of Lamm threatening to feed her to the beast when it was big enough - which it is now - are all she can focus on. But she is not the helpless child of years ago, and fires a crossbow bolt at the beast, it hits the water and splashes harmlessly away.

Nik holds up a holy symbol of Erastil and call forth the blessing of Estig the Hunter to be with you and guide your blows.

You all benefit from a bless spell - +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects for 1 minute.

As he does Gobblegut moves upstream against the current and bites at Trisane, his jaws are turned aside by the piling and snap harmlessly together.

Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Rd 3 - Party Actions

Grand Lodge

Whoa! That was close. Time to get out of the water.

Trisane ignores Alistair's tactical mockery, clearly preoccupied with his attacker. He withdraws from the piling and moves away from the group to square off against Gobblegut on even ground. When he reaches the corner, he turns to face the croc with sword and shield in hand and looks up to the others.

I'll draw him away. Shoot him when he comes out of the water!

Full-Round withdraw action (double move, avoiding AoO in first threatened square): Trisane is baiting the croc for a better position (he's the bait, gasp!) out of the water. This is also to suggest Ophelia and Nik ready an action with crossbows to fire at Gobblegut when he loses cover on dry land. Alistair can also easily swing/swashbuckle down on a conveniently placed rope hanging from the ceiling to flank with Trisane if he wants to go for the kill. Or do whatever you want and watch Trisane get chomped! Good luck!

C'mere you toothy bastard!

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

What in the nine hells is he doing? He can't be serious! Run you fool!

Ophelia will reload her crossbow and take another glance around the room to make sure they didn't attract any company. If the crocodile is within 25 feet, she'll cast a spell, otherwise she'll line up a shot and wait until the crocodile is out of the water.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10

If within 25 ft, she'll cast jolt at the croc, which needs a ranged touch. Otherwise crossbow.

Ranged Touch for Jolt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Electricity Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Trisane embraces his roll as breakfast, and today, breakfast is served on the banks of the Jeggare, it will however be fighting back.

An arc of electricity jumps from Ophelia's hand and strikes Gobblegut while he is in the water. From his response, you either hurt him or made him angrier, it is hard to tell.

Nick takes aim with his crossbow and readies himself to fire when the beast emerges from the water. (Ready action: Fire when Gobblegut moves onto land.)

Male HP:76/76 AC:30 T:20 FF:21 F:+8 R:+14 W:+7 Perc:+12 Init:+10 Swashbucklers Rapier +19, 1d6+10 CMB:+9 CMD:+25 Human Swashbuckler 9 (Inspired Blade)

Alistair shakes his head....what an as....
he walks around the ledge taking his time to get on to the other side by trisane being careful not to slip.
double move to walk around to the other side
he abandons a defensible position for a better defensive position..ok, but puts me at a disadvantage in the process...I guess he will soon be dinner guest for Mr Teeth.

Gobblegut advances on Trisane, Nik unleashes his crossbow and sinks a bolt into the creatures thick hide. Gobblegut thrashes and is unable to bite Trisane.

Nik Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 1 = 22
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 1 = 21
Critical confirmed

Damage: 1d8 + 1d8 ⇒ (1) + (5) = 6

Rd 4 - Party Actions

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Good shot, Nik! He may have just saved Trisane's life, time to end this.

Ophelia takes aim with her crossbow and fires at the crocodile. Alistair stay down, I don't want to hit you!

Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

After shooting at the croc, she'll take a moment to reload.

Grand Lodge

Nice shooting guys! It's not over yet. Keep it coming! Alistair, I know it's exciting watching a marine in action but feel free to help at any time...

At least I've got two on my team. C'mon Alistair, show me you're not just piss n wind...

Trisane holds his ground and swings defensively at Gobblegut. His miss almost seems deliberate...

Standard Action: Defensive Attack -4 to attack +2 Dodge AC until next round. (21 AC total, 18 CMD)

Longsword Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male HP:76/76 AC:30 T:20 FF:21 F:+8 R:+14 W:+7 Perc:+12 Init:+10 Swashbucklers Rapier +19, 1d6+10 CMB:+9 CMD:+25 Human Swashbuckler 9 (Inspired Blade)

Hold onto your bladder for the gods sake...and you call yourself a marine. Tsk tsk
Alistair will take another look at the alligator, the marine and the surroundings. Smiling down at Trisane
This would have been some much easier if you would have listen to me before...but NOOOO the big bad marine has to do things his way even to the disadvantage to anyone who is trying to save is knuckle dragging ars.
Giving Trisane a over exaggerated wink. He jumps down towards the back end of the beast and towards land. Trying his best to roll uphill towards dry ground.
If marines believe in gods...pray that this works...if not
He shrugs his shoulders
Then do not piss yourself too much as it tends to make your footing a bit slippery
Charge attack/jump/Acrobatics
I will spend a Panache point to add 1d6 to acrobatics roll..not sure if it is needed or not or if it gives bonuses (or if the jump/charge is considered part of flanking)
acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d6 ⇒ 4
Attack
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage
damage : 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Looking up at the alligator
ohhh that had to hurt..and if you get so much as a drop of your blood on me...I will have a belt made out of you
Well it was a good life at least

Trisane swings his sword in a low wide arc, meant to keep the beast at bay, while Alistair leaps down from above, driving his rapier into the beast. Bloodied the beast slides sideways into the water and dives toward the bottom, a trail of blood quickly washed away by the current of the Jeggare.

Withdrawl action by Gobblegut.

Your victory is short lived however as a voice known all to well too some of you calls out from across the room. A light shines from across the room, (the room above Trisane and Alistair) and the glint of steel can be seen, otherwise the bearer remains a dim figure in the darkness.

Bah, driven off my pet have you, well no matter, I shall feed him your corpses upon his return.

Party goes

As he watches the alligator retreat from combat
I believe the words you are looking for are Thank and You
He turns towards trisane and his smile slowly fades as the voice is heard.
Shaking his head
Well it is not over yet marine..shall we continue this dance.
Alistair will move and climb up the rope using the piling as an edge to help him get back to the top.
Let us hope I fair better than you did at climbing a rope
I will spend another panache point to add 1d6 to my climb check
climb: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + (3) = 11
wow this rope is slippery

Into the halls of the mountain king

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Ophelia glares at the voice in the darkness. She drops her crossbow to the floor and begins to chant a spell, holding the last word.

You fools better get up here quickly.

She tosses the coin she was holding into the room, hoping the sudden brightness will be enough to distract Lamm. At the same moment she finishes the spell and reaches out to send an arc of electricity at the man.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Casting jolt again.

Grand Lodge

I know that voice… Gaedren Lamm!

Trisane spins around while drawing out a dagger to face Lamm.

Perception:
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Trisane is looking for what kind of weapons Lamm might have and a clear shot.

Actions:
Move action – Draw dagger. Standard action – Ready Action to throw if Gaedren attacks. Thrown Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Alistair and Ophelia are loose canons. I need to try to keep this under control.

He speaks in an authoritative voice.

We need to talk. Lay down your weapons and I won’t hurt you!

Grand Lodge

Nik follows the lighted coin to see who has spoken. He reloads is crossbow and moves to the right to check the shadows for another way up. While doing this he pictures the children he knows to be present, knowing that Rom will follow his lead.

Rom!

Empathic Link:
Where are the children?

Ophelia's arc leaps across the room and finds its mark.

Little whelp! Should 'ave gutted you when I 'ad the chance. You were a failure then and a failure now. Pathetic! Lamm cries out loudly. He keeps his lantern focused on Ophelia and Nik

Trisane - you are still below the fishery - give me a DC 15 climb to get up to the level where Lamm is, if you make it you can draw the dagger as part of that move.

Alistair - you see why Trisane had such a hard time, you make no headway upwards.

Nik sees an old man, human, but the light and shadows of his lantern and the coin make him seem distorted and sinister. It would seem that you have found Gaedren Lamm.

Rom

Empathy:
Rom is cautious and concerned

Perception checks from Nik and Ophelia

Go ahead and move yourselves on the map

Grand Lodge

Surrender Gaedren! If you accept justice and provide us the answers we seek I promise you will be spared.

Perception:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Alistair curses the rope and tries again
Climb as part of move action
Stupid marine probably pissed himself on the rope.
climb: 1d20 ⇒ 17
If successful
Second action Move 30 feet drawing my rapier again as part of my move.
Smiling and humming...

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

Nik's a fool to think he'll actually accept that offer, better make sure he isn't gutted in response.

Ophelia begins chanting another spell, but holds off finishing it as she looks between Nik and Lamm.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10

She'll ready an action to cast the daze spell if Lamm does anything but surrender, DC 14 Will save to negate the effects.

Lamm moves along the opening, shifting away from Trisane and Alistair but moving more towards Nik.

What a collection of worthless little pukes? He looks from Ophelia to Nik, I am amazed that you found your way out of the bushes, why don't you go back to your goat or pig or whatever keeps you warm at night.

And you two, to Trisane and Alistair, Stop kissing and sheath those bodkins - draw steel and come get some.

Lamm's tone shows no signs of fear, and the sword at the ready says he is quite capable of delivering on his promise.

Nik -

Empathy:
You are not sure if it is something you heard or concern from Rom, but you believe the fishery above is no longer quiet and "asleep".

Alistair does a double move and draws a rapier

Grand Lodge

He’s not gonna make it easy… stubborn old goat. He’s used to the shadows though. He’s got to be hiding something.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Trisane tries to take a quick scan around for other dangers before confronting Lamm directly. What weapon is Gaedren's holding?

Trisane drops his dagger in the sand and sheaths his sword while he makes an attempt at the ledge. Move action.

I’ve got to get answers to find Pellius before Ophelia and Alistair butcher him senseless with their insanity! C’mon Trisane, get up there and show these amateurs who's in charge!

Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17 Move action #2. Close the gap on Gaedren and draw longsword.

Trisane points his sword and growls at Gaedren.

I've got your steel right here old man. This is your last chance, surrender or we're taking you down!

Grand Lodge

Nic raises his crossbow, aiming directly at Gaedren's chest.

Last chance to make this easy on us all.

Intimidate:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Nik's voice shakes more than he would like.

Keep it together.

Keep an eye out for his goons. They are here somewhere...

Trisane:
it takes a double move to climb and then stand up/draw a weapon (had the same talk with Alistair). You will be able to move over and take a standard attack with this round.

Based on your perception, Lamm is holding a short sword.

As Alistair approaches, Lamm takes a swing and Ophelia lets her spell fly, unlike Gobblegut, Lamm continues his swing unaffected.

Lamm save vs Ophelia's readied action with held spell.
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Lamm Attack against Alistair
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1

Alistair:
Despite the skill with landing the blow, there is no strength behind it

You can try - but you will have to pry my treasures from my cold dead 'ands. But I will enjoy the coin you gear will bring - try not to bleed too much before you die, it lowers the value.

Party - go

Smiling at Lamm...Alistair will step aside as lamm's attack stabs at the area that he was just in.
Using a panache point for Dodging panache...granting me my (dodge)CHA mod to ac: 16+2=18
This is an immediate action that provokes Attacks of opportunity from anyone else but my target LAMM

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Alistair does not set his feet properly as he attacks..
Careful these floors are a bit slippery, and yes I can attest to that fact.

Female Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 3

The bastard's as tough as I remember, he easily sees through Nik's bluff. Alistair has some fancy footwork, hope he and Trisane can stop him...maybe this will help

Ophelia crosses the Southern end of the building, chanting a spell. When she reaches the corner she'll finish the spell and yell, Lamm! to get his attention.

Casting lock gaze DC 15 Will save to negate. If successful, Lamm has to look at me for 1 round, giving everyone else concealment against his attacks. If he willingly leaves my line of sight, he is blinded for 1 round.
