Nik glances at the gash in his chest and feels a moment of bloodlust. He maneuvers around Ophelia and leans over Trefate. He points past Trisane at Yargin.
Trefate , timpul pentru răzbunare ... atac !
Trefate charges forward and tries to take down the ugly man.
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Trefate: 15 ft. move for move action, Attack as standard action. Description says charge but he can't through Trisane.

Rom - Familiar |

Rom, looks at Nik and squawks.
Aștepta. Ce? În nici un caz.
Rom begins to move towards the gnome, trying to see if there is an oppurtunity. Something about his movements say he's not sure he wants to be doing this.
Preparing to move in to help Nik flank the gnome next round. And not really happy about it.

GM-Grenfax |

Trefate races past Trisane and leaps at Yargrin, tearing into an arm and sending them both to floor in a tangle of dog and clothing. From the pile, Yargrin again utters Klootzpup!, but there is no sign of the wand discharging or Trefate reacting.
UMD: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Miss
Yargrin shouts out bewildered, Call of this mutt - I surrender! I surrender!
Th gnome sees this and attempt to flee out the open door, much to the relief of Rom! Provokes an AoO from Nik, if Nik chooses.

![]() |

That could've gone worse...
After shaking some blood from his sword, Trisane looks suddenly over towards the double doors when hears a tiny thud to see the gnome face first on the grimy floor. He pats Nik on shoulder as he passes to approach the little menace.
Nice work, Nik!
Move Action - 20' towards the gnome. He will provoke AoO from 1 threatened square with this movement. Standard Action - Disarm maneuver pending the outcome of any possible AoO.

GM-Grenfax |

Trefate continues to growling while maintaining his grip on Yargrin. A wand clatters out from in between the two as Nik commanded.
Now call off this cur! cries Yargrin, less commanding and more pleading for mercy, but every bit as sour.
Trisane moves around the gnome and rests a booted foot upon the hand clutching the kukri. Effectively disarms.
The gnome looks up, then lets his head fall back to the floor.
The night falls quiet and the darkness seems to thin. Despite the torrent of youths that went by, the fishery is still and the trio alone with their prisoners.

![]() |

Ok. I'll assume we're no longer in rounds/combat.
Time to get some answers.
Trisane calls out to the others.
I think the danger's past now. Nik, Ophelia, go check on the old grump and make sure he stays put.
He then looms over the gnome menacingly.
Not so fast, my little friend. You're not goin anywhere. You've got some explaining to do. You can start with my nephew. Where's the boy called Pellius?!
While the gnome is pacified, Trisane glances around to see if he can spot his nephew.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Nik approaches Yagrin and attempts to draw Trefate off of him.
Rom , vin să ia acest băț departe de el.
Nik lays his hand on Trefate to ease him down if possible.
Trefate. Ezita!
Move action to approach Trefate and Yagrin, Standard action to use Handle Animal.

GM-Grenfax |

The gnome grimaces with Trisane's foot upon his hand.
Like a I know 'eir names... they all look alike to me. If 'e didn't run by, then 'e is probly down below, and twitches his head toward the darkness beyond the door he came through.
Up in the rafters, Rom has the wand,
"Klawtpoop!"
"Klawtpup!"
"Klootpup!"
Trefate lets go of Yargrin, who starts to scuttle back, but a low Grrrrrrr freezes him in place. Blood and foam drip from Trefate's jowls, giving the dog a more fierce appearance.
The gnome suddenly calms down, and calmly and loudly speaks.
I have surrendered. Tell me your charges Marine, what am I being detained for? Take me to the magistrate!
Yargrin smiles.
Yes, indeed! Take us to the Magistrate! We are your prisoners!

Ophelia_Wintrish |

Sunt de acord cu Rom Ophelia moves into the room with Nik, looking about for anything unusual. Nice job with the gnome, by the way...how are your wounds? She softly speaks the words of a spell while looking around.

A single desk sits in the middle of this room, a moldy chair pushed
up against the far side. A small pile of ratty furs and straw is heaped
under the table.
There are five door in this room: the door you entered from to the west, double door that exit the building to the street to the south, an unopened door to the east, and 2 separate unopened doors to the north.
Ophelia
Yargrin lays bloodied in the middle of the room with Trefate still standing over him growling menacingly.
Call off this beast and take us to the Magistrate, Marine! We are your prisoner's. Yargrin says loudly, like the gnome, calmer, but with a tone just as sour as before.

![]() |

Trisane shouts.
Pellius!!
Where the hell can he be? I better check inside to be sure.
With no apparent sign of his nephew, Trisane leans down and takes the kukri away from the gnome.
I’ll be holding onto this for now. Now get up and go join your friend inside. March!
He follows the gnome cautiously at sword point as they enter the room, then he speaks to his captives.
You’re right. You’re now our prisoners and you’ll see the Magistrate when we say so. Nobody’s going anywhere until I find my nephew. For your sake, you’d best hope I find him here alive. I’m charging you both with theft and the murder of innocent children.
Ophelia, Nik. We need to search this place thoroughly.
Trisane then searches around the room to find any type of rope or way to restrain their new prisoners.
When/if he finds something, he’ll tie them both up securely.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Magistrates? What's this now?
Nik seems puzzled as he begins looking around. He motions for Rom to join him.
Rom , lăsați aici breloc . Am nevoie de tine pentru a găsi ceva pentru Tref să mănânce . A fi dificil.
Nik heads into the other room and begins looking around for signs of more children and possibly of Tobar. He heads to the open door and listens, noting if he hears anyone downstairs.

Rom - Familiar |

Rom grudgingly drops the wand as he passes Ophelia and joins Nik in the next room.
Pot să păstrez chestia aia? Cred că sunt obtinerea de truc de ea.
Rom flies around the room, looking for any sign of food.
Feed the dog? What about me? There's got to be something around here for me to eat.

Ophelia_Wintrish |

Ophelia replies to Rom, Voi ține de ea pentru tine, atunci vom vedea.
She'll pick up the wand, and point it at Yargrin. Looking towards Trisane, there's nothing in here, but what about these fools? Better make sure they don't have any hidden surprises. She'll guard the two until Trisane can secure them. If either attempt to attack him or flee, she'll use the wand.

GM-Grenfax |

The gnome does as instructed, and stands beside Yargrin.
Yes, you do that! Theft and murdering children, dreadful accusations, too bad you... Yargrin begins before the gnome gives him a kick.
There is plenty of rope laying about, and you are able to relieve the two of anything useful. Neither offers any resistance.
Yargrin - two tanglefoot bags, a thunderstone, dagger, a key, and a light crossbow with 10 bolts sits nearby. Rom has his wand. And he wears
leather armor, and a garnet amulet.
Gnome - a kukri, a disguise kit with 4 uses left, a key. And he wears studded leather armor.

Rom the Raven |

N-aș hrăni câinele asta, cu atât mai puțin, mânca-o eu - acest pește este putred!
He follows Nik out, and perches nearby while Nik listens at the open door. Nik hears coughing and movement down below in the darkness, as well as the sounds of the river.

![]() |

Nik holds his staff out and raises his hand to the tip.
Stea.
The tip of the staff glows like a torch as he moves forward to look past the darkened doorway.
Pellius. Is there a boy named Pellius down among you?
I hope the boy still lives.
[ooc]Standard action to cast light on the staff, and a move action to enter the doorway.

GM-Grenfax |

Nik's light shines down the stairs to a floor slick with seawater, bits of seaweed, and fish blood—the air is thick with the accompanying scent. The floor is only several feet above the river below. An open bay allows direct access to the sloppy, muddy water, while below you stands an immense ten-foot-tall wooden vat, its sides caked and waterproofed with tar. Inside is a foul-looking mixture of chum, seawater, and who knows what else.
Wooden catwalks along the far wall allow access to other parts of the fishery. At the foot of the stairs are stacked many barrels and crates, each marked in paint with a fish. Nearly two dozen small hammocks hang from under the catwalks, each with its own ratty blanket and pillow, clearly recently abandoned, except for three with blankets wrapped tightly around their occupants.

![]() |

Trisane collects the gear and puts the finishing touches on securing the prisoners including a gag for each.
That ought to do the trick. I think we've all heard enough out of them.
Ophelia, keep an eye on these two while we look for Pellius. Check the smaller rooms if you can. We won't be long. If they try to do anything stupid, zap em!
He gives her a quick wink then follows Nik down into the larger room retrieving his sunrod from the floor along the way. Trisane joins Nik in calling out for his nephew as they search the first of the 3 occupied hammocks.
Pellius! Where are you?
Please be here...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Ophelia_Wintrish |

Good luck, I hope he's down there. I really do.
Ophelia grins at the two captives, you heard the marine, I get to zap you...if you do anything stupid, of course. Oh, please do something stupid!
Ophelia holds out the wand and taps it, casting a spell on it lux! The wand begins to glow brightly and she moves to check one of the nearby doors.

GM-Grenfax |

Trisane pulls back the blanket of a young girl, she is shivering, convulsing. long black hair wraps around her face. She is unresponsive. Obviously, it is neither Pellius, nor Tobar.
A heal check to determine the source of the condition.
Nik crosses the room, and finds the this hammock occupied by an unfortunate child. The pale blue skin shows that this child has joined his gods. He appears to have been a mix of Shoanti and elven. From the bruises on him, his end was neither swift nor kind. Obviously, it is neither Pellius, nor Tobar.
Ophelia opens a door to a hallway, 10 long ending in another door. The hallway is empty.

![]() |

What is going on here? Poor girl...
Trisane steps back a moment in shock of what he's witnessing. Then he decides to act.
Nik! Come over here quickly! This girl is alive but not well and needs our help.

Dear Dreamer, who would treat children so?
Nik walks over to join Trisane and examines the young girl.
I am afraid my knowledge here is limited.
He tries keep his voice calm as he addresses the girl.
What is your name young lady?
Nik then points to the last child who has not be checked.
Rom, ce te simți de la acel copil?

GM-Grenfax |

Ophelia - A wooden desk sits in one corner of this room, its side preventing the door from opening all the way. The table is heaped
with dozens of slate boards covered with chalk scrawls, while to
the north a cabinet slouches against the wall. To the east, a few moldy boards have been nailed over a door.
Trisane and Nik - you recognize the effects of shiver, a potent, hallucinogenic drug made from the processed venom of the dream spider. It is generally ingested after which the user falls into a deep slumber filled with vivid dreams. While asleep the user generally shakes and shivers.

![]() |

Nik shakes his head.
This must be the same stuff that Tobar is supposed to be using. Shiver it's called. These kids will need a lot of help from here.
Nik motions to the two other hammocks.
Rom says that one lives, but the boy over there has past. I think we have the proof we were looking for, yet I am not sure about your nephew. Please check them while I see if there is something I can do to make this girl comfortable for now.
If one of these boys is his nephew I almost hope it is the last one. The pain this girl and the other will go through is more than should be endured by one so young.

Trisane cries out at the sight of his nephew.
Pellius! No! What have they done to you!?
He cradles the boy gently and attempts to treat Pellius's injuries.

Ophelia_Wintrish |

Ophelia makes her way around the room, watching the two captives. I wonder what the others have found, I haven't heard any fighting...these two...do something so I can zap you!
Ophelia will remain on watch, wary of the two. She'll be ready with the wand in case either do anything. She'll continue until she hears from Nik or Trisane.

![]() |

Nik rest his hand of the girl and says a quick prayer.
Rest now little one. This ordeal will be over soon.
Nik turns to Trisane, a sad look on his face.
How can I ask him to finish this? He has found what he needed to, but I still need his help to find Tobar. Am I really selfish?
Trisane, the boy is safe for now but we need to help Ophelia make sure all of the dangers are gone. Rom can stay here and alert me if there is more trouble. Let's head upstairs again.

![]() |

With tears of relief streaming down his face, Trisane embraces the boy before turning to Nik.
He's alive! Thank the gods!
After a moment of silence, Trisane collects himself.
You're right, Nik. It's time to return to Ophelia, collect our prisoners and get out of this wretched place. Pellius is coming with us too but... I can only carry one. Save the poor orphan girl if you can. We must all return to the boat.
He tucks the sunrod in his shoulder pocket and hoists his nephew from the hammock with both hands intent on carrying him out.
Lead the way...

![]() |

Nik picks up the young girl and heads for the steps. As he walks past Trisane he pauses for a moment.
When this is done I promise you I will do what I can to help these children recover. Tobar made a choice, these two were innocent of that choice. After we get these two to the boat, one of us should return for the third child. He should be interred with respect.
Nik heads up stairs to join Ophelia.

Ophelia_Wintrish |

Ophelia looks curiously at the two carrying children. She asks, hopefully, Did you find who you were looking for?
I didn't look thoroughly, yet, but that door leads to a short hallway, that one an office, and that looks like a bedroom of sorts. These two haven't moved. unfortunately

![]() |

Trisane nods to Ophelia.
Yes, Pellius is alive but will take a while to recover. These monsters have seen to that... I think we've got enough evidence to put them away for a long time. We'll get Lamm last. Get them on their feet. It's time to go.
He then turns to exit the room, carrying his nephew back to the boat.
