"We have to keep the heads to show the army leaders that we are worthy, though."

With a bit of a smile the seven versions of Somer rush off with the others. As he moves he decides to forgo the an attack and whispers a spell. Immediately a cloud of glitter burst forward hitting both the giant and the bear.

The partial success of the spell brings a smile to Somer's lips has he adds some flame too his bow, whispers a spell, and lets two arrows fly at the blind giant.

The bear is blinded, injured and angry, so doesn't seem to even understand the predicament yet.

With the giant down Somer almost feels bad for the bear. It must be put down but hopefully i will be quick. He calls forth a small amount of ice on his flaming arrows and fires.

The bear goes down hard and heavy under the weight of the coordinated and brutal attacks.

Combat over.

Checking what little the giant seems to have to his name, you find only one small item of interest to you: a ring. This ring is crafted of hardened leather strips, into which bits of fur, feathers, bone, and ivory have been woven. A quick check does reveal it is magical.

When the bear falls Somer stands beside it and speaks to the corpse.

"Sorry we had to do that. You were misused by this giant, it was not your fault."

He takes a moment to check his bow and make sure he is ready for whatever comes next.

Suddenly, you see death coming from above! Horns jut from this muscular dragon’s beaked head, and spikes cover the dragon’s hide even in places on its winged arms. It swoops down on you.

Only Somer noticed in just the nick of time, and so he gets to act in the surprise round (and first). Because of that, you can hit him at whatever range you like, as he is descending in a partial charge, flyby pounce attack on someone in your exposed group. BTW, your mirror image is still active - it really has been less than a minute since the last scuffle.

Looking up Somer gasps "Dragon?" but still smiles a little.

Yah, ouch!

Somer doesn't recognize the creature (knowledge check too low), but it sure looks like a dragon. While his mind stays focused, his muscles fail to obey and his arrows both go astray.

The beast swoops in and pounces on the Somers (recall mirror image still in effect).

Out of game comment, inside the drake's psyche:

This one is hungry - the sound of the previous battle drew it to you. Mouser and Tam looked too small to satisfy, and Balmir and Derrik too well armored. Many Somers, however, appear (as yet) to be the most tasty and satisfying! The good news is that despite having flyby, he ran out of move right where you all can get him! Don't expect this to happen often, though...

Not to be _that guy_ but didn't the second "real or figment" actually hit the real? On the plus side, that means that Somer only lost 1 extra image.

Somer:
Couple things here, and maybe you can help clarify. I read read all of the rules on your class(es), and I don't believe we are applying them quite correct in these scenarios. I don't see how you can stand up without provoking AoO, and acrobatics doesn't really help you here. Also, standing is a move action, so this will prevent you from making a full attack this round. You can still make a single shot/gloombolt attack, but if the AoO succeeds, you will need to make a concentration check. Does this make sense? If not, let's take to discussion or PM.

The drake sees Somer(s) try to stand, and swipes again with his tail. Another mirror image bites the dust, but Somer is unscathed and steps back 5'. Casting his spell (also provokes, but in this case, the Drake doesn't have combat reflexes), the elf let's an arrow fly, delivering the spell.

Mirror Image: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Reflex save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

So I get, for damage, 12 from gloombolt, 8 for the arrow +2 for the flaming quality. Right?

Derrik gets into position without opening himself up, thanks to Somer providing distraction. Unfortunately, though, his spear glances off the creature's hide.

The drake, disappointed with the resistance, takes another tactic. Biting again at Somer (removing another image), it then flies off about 50' away and 20' above the ground.

As the lizard flies off to get some distance Somer is very glad he has cast mirror image as it has probably saved his life at this point. Still he moves to get some protection under the trees before casting glitterdust (DC 16).

Derrik manages to cut the beast's leg as it flies off.

Mouser hides while Balmir tries to bully the beast. Unfortunately, the drake is already too far off to make an impact. It is not too far, though, for Somer and Tamxander to cause it some issues.

The drake's shadow catches on a tree and holds it firmly in place, hovering 20' off the ground, now all shimmery and blinded.

Feeling a bit of panic, the drake tries desperately to fly off.

Seeing the lizard blinded and stuck Somer casts a spell and takes a deep breath. He slowly lets out the breath releasing his arrows at the bottom of the breath before launching a second after it.

Balmir huffs in exasperation. "Come back here!" He moves towards the creature as it hovers above a tree. Once he's close enough, he again shakes his hammer at the creature. "Behold your doom!"

Somer plants an arrow in the drake, and watches satisfactorly as it explodes into a snowball. The creature does not seem intimidated, despite it's circumstances.

It turns to where it hears Balmir's voice, and streams a caustic gas pour from its maw, covering both Balmir and Mouser..

Since the shadow anchor keeps it form coming bask as well as escaping, all the drake seems to be able to do is to continue to attempt the escape.
