Ruhk "The Dandy" |
"Yes, let us be off, but I honestly do not think there is much point in coming back here.
Where there is one kobold there is guaranteed to be more, so with Greypelt gone, they will likely strip this place of any treasure."
Zilka Hemanax |
"There's a mystery here. Zirren and I were sent to investigate these dwarven ruins by the Society. That doesn't bind you folks, of course, but we'd welcome your company and be happy to split any treasure. I'm fine with leaving for the town so we can give Laurel the goods, but we gotta return."

Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
Well, I can't find my way back alone, so I'm following the rest of you. Leaving this place is the right thing to do, but then again, maybe, I don't know. Is there a way this place can be reclaimed, put back into use for a good purpose? What would it take to convince some from the village to come here and rebuild. It seems like a useful site, if maybe as a prison if nothing else.
Nathaniel seems to ignore anymore comments about trophies, or triumphs, and makes sure the mushrooms are well pack
Zirren Jenefone |
At Bella's proclomation of coming back to find more wealth to help get away from Falcon's Hallow, Zirren suddenly felt a pang of guilt. It was true that he had been interested in helping to save the town, but it was more as a side effect of exploring and cataloguing what these ruins held. He could even be glad that he didn't truly care about finding wealth for personal gain. But what he had not considered was obtaining wealth to help those he cared about.
"Yes, of course we'll return here, Bella. But for now we should go as Caine suggested."
Alright GM, that's everyone. We're heading back to Falcon's Hallow. Zirren will suggest not going near where the Wyvern's territory.
GM Faelyn |
Okay. Which path do you want to take? There's the way you came, but might take some hunting on trying to find the path again. Or there's the straight shot south directly to the river, which you would need to cross, but finding the logger's path back from the lake would be easy.
Belladonna Goodbarrel |
Belladonna hesitates for a moment. "Well, like I would only move if I could take my entire family with me. That's a lot of us, don'tcha know. But you know that our home is sick not just with the plague, but with Creed. He's the one who did this to us in the first place. If we can't get rid of him and his awful goonies, then I would want my family to get out. We would flee somewhere, I don't know where."
I'm thinking of taking the river route. Does that sound good?
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
"The first thing to do to truly get rid of Creed is to break the base his power rests on, for that you need a bit of cash, a bit of smarts, a LOT of bravery and no small amount of luck."
Ruhk grins and tousles Bella's hair.
"Guess we need to start earning that cash then eh?"
GM Faelyn |
So far I have one vote for cutting straight south to the river and attempting to find a good place to cross (Belladonna). You guys can either do a vote, majority wins type thing or pick a leader to make the decision for you guys. That being said, I need (at a minimum) the way you are going to attempt to return to Falcon's Hollow.
Zirren Jenefone |
Then we cut across the river. I still say we need to travel and then rest before crossing. Shouldn't matter where we cross if we rest.
GM Faelyn |
Okay, so it seems the consensus is to make an attempt to head straight south from your current location to the Darkmoon River, find a ford (or other acceptable location to cross), and then rest before making your attempt to cross.
I'm assuming you search this room before you leave and find the following.
Treasure: Tucked behind the pillar are a few things of value hidden by Graypelt, including a bag with 354 gp, a masterwork light crossbow, a potion of bull’s strength, and a wand of light (CL 1st, 28 charges).
As long as everyone is okay with the above course of action... everyone toss me out a Survival check with a +2 circumstance bonus for having Milon's map!
Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
As the group gathers themselves up for departing, Nathaniel steps out into the light of the day and looks for the sun to try and get his bearings, and then tries to think ahead about what it will take to forage southward and find the river.
Survival Skill Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Belladonna Goodbarrel |
"Oooo" says Belladonna as she picks through the loots. At first she begins to pocket the bag of coins, before snapping out of it and handing them to Caine. Upon seeing the crossbow, she picks it up and cradles it like a baby. "Hey Mr. Ruhk. This crossbow looks really good for me, don't you think?"
Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Belladonna knows which way to go!
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
"It does indeed Bella, let's see you load it. Get a feel for it, if it rests easy in your hands, you should keep it."
Ruhk scratches his nose for a moment, frowning in concentration.
"Hmmm...nope, never been called "Mr" before, EXCEPT by Payden, and he only uses it as either a deference to Kreed, or as a sign he is really not liking you at the moment.
How nice to be called it WITHOUT the following gob on your shoes."
GM Faelyn |
50% chance on x-bow being Small: 1d100 ⇒ 6
Nice! The crossbow is Small sized! I will come up with a description for it a little later for you guys.
Greyson Caine |
Can we get a clarification on that wand? Looks like possibly a typo.
Caine nodded in appreciation of the crossbow and did his best to keep from getting lost.
Survival (aid another): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
GM Faelyn |
The wand is actually correct, but this module was written for 3.5 rules so I'll find a better spell to throw on there!
The crossbow is made of darkwood, well-oiled, and of exquisite make with the initials G.T.B. masterfully etched into the butt of the frame.
The group gathers up all the valuables they find in Greypelt's chamber and exit the ruins. They take a moment to orientate themselves using the sun's position and begin making their way southwards to the Darkmoon River. The forest is thick and the going is rather slow; however, after about six (6) hours of trudging through the woods, the group makes their way successfully to the river without mishap! You can hear the roar of a small waterfall. As you reach the forest edge you realize that dusk is rapidly approaching... What is your plan?
Greyson Caine |
Caine smiled, appreciating the waterfall. For as rough as the Vale was, some parts of it were breathtaking.
"I'd prefer to cross now, before it gets dark. See anywhere that's shallow enough?"
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
"G.T.B? Clearly it knew you were coming, why else would it have the abbreviation for "Great and Terrific Belladonna" written on it?"
Ruhk looks around for a bit, trying to spot a good place to cross.
"Not sure, we'll have to look around..."
Zilka Hemanax |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Zilka starts looking for a safe crossing.

Zirren Jenefone |
Zirren let out a sigh of relief as they finally stopped near dark. Dropping his pack to the ground he fell against a tree and slid to the ground. He was nearly exhausted, his back and feet were sore, his left arm throbbed, and despite the ever present chill he now seemed to have, he had been sweating for the last hour. His clothing felt uncomfortable. He slowly reached for his pack and pulled out a dry shirt as well as his water skin before he downed the last of its contents.
Just because I'm a Pathfinder does not mean I'm cut out for all of this forest travel. he thought to himself.
"Forget crossing the river tonight, just find us a place to camp for the night. We'll deal with finding a good place to ford in the morning."
Greyson Caine |
"Go on without 'em, through the woods at night. Again."
Caine sighed. "Shouldn't though. Won't be able to help anyone if I die of hypothermia on the road though. Being wet and cold at night's a bad idea." he shook his head. He wanted to go on, but he knew it was a bad idea.
He kicked a rock into the water and started grumpily making camp. His thoughts were plagued by the sick back in Falcon's Hollow. They were so close.
Zirren Jenefone |
Zirren was laying down now. Hand laying across his forehead as he listened to the others talk. "Yes, and there's no point freezing ourselves in the river when it's dark. Trust me, in the morning I'll make things far easier for us."
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
Ruhk sighs a little, abrasive and cynical as he could be, Caine wasn't a bad sort, just an...acquired taste you could say.
Besides, being so close now, with all the tools needed, Ruhk was worried himself, one day might mean life or death to some of the people back home.
Eventually he walks over and puts a hand on Caine's shoulder.
He doesn't say anything, because really, there is nothing to be said.
GM Faelyn |
Greyson: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Nathaniel: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Ruhk: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Zilka: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Zirren: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
The decision was made to stay the night along the northern shore of the nearby river. Greyson, Nathaniel, and Ruhk find a good, defensible position to set up their camp for the night. With the sun dropping rapidly, the temperature becomes uncomfortable and a small cooking/watch fire was started. The fire came in handy in cooking the trout the group was able to either spear or trap from the river. The sounds of the nearby falls was soothing after the last several harrowing nights they have had recently... How do you want to handle the Watch?
Nathaniel Artegal Boote |
I'm a little, a little, never mind,Nathaniel says quietly, and then with more conviction, I would like to rest some, but I will take a watch in the night if someone will be sure to wake me
Zilka Hemanax |
"Everyone needs 8 hours of rest, my mam always told me. I wouldn't mind taking a watch in the middle of the night, though."
Only Zirren needs an uninterrupted 8 hours. The rest of us just need 8 hours total to avoid fatigue.
Greyson Caine |
Zilka, check the discussion thread. The GM ruled that "light activity" was fine, so Zirren can take a watch anywhere.
Caine shrugged. "How about we go with Zirren, Boote, Zilka, Bella, Me, Ruhk.
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
"Guess I'll be making breakfast then. Since we're so close to town, I think I can make a few flatbreads in the morning.
I was saving the flour and such."
Ruhk makes himself comfortable, looking forward to a nice sleep.
GM Faelyn |
Sorry on the delay folks!
The group sets up their watch detail and settles in for the night, which surprisingly passes by uneventfully. Throughout your watches, you each have time to think about everything that has happened during the last three days... Some of you came to Falcon's Hollow to investigate ruins, others to search for lost family members, and others... are simply hoping to bring just a little bit of goodness back to their homes by saving everyone that they could.
At dawn Ruhk begins to quietly cook up some flatbreads, the wonderful aroma of cooking drags each of you from you slumber and the loud growls from your stomachs indicate that perhaps the large lumberjack has far greater talents than simply hacking things with his axe...
You have each gained 2nd level!!! Feel free to have some RP interaction while you level your PCs! Post any questions you have in the Discussion thread.
Ruhk "The Dandy" |
As Ruhk flips one of the flatbread over on the hot stone he is baking them on, he looks up and see the rest of the camp stirring to life.
With a cheeky grin, he waves his and over the bread, sending more of the scent their way.
"Heh, you know, camping next to a river, if we were not in a hurry we could try and catch a fish to go with the bread.
But luckily, I packed a little smoked bacon, and there were a few edible mushrooms nearby.
Makes for great drippings!
So yes, this will be a pretty good breakfast, dig in."
Belladonna Goodbarrel |
Wait, lvl 2??? There's a lvl 2???
Belladonna wakes up with a little fox licking her face. His ears are perked up, and his eyes excited. Must be food time. She thinks to herself. As she sits up, Lucky bounces around and whimpers. Fresh bread, mushrooms, and is that... BACON??
As Ruhk looks up, Belladonna bounces around and whimpers, hungry for foods.
