Zeldones is able to see the daemons and everyone readies to blast them once they become visible again. The daemons pop out of invisibility far from everyone, although Temujin is still able to blast one away! The other tries to confuse Galtar!

"Wererat!" Ruckus' voice calls out from somewhere in the room. "Use silver if you have it!"
His voice then changes, becoming harsher. "F*#%ing silver. Use MAGIC you sissy!! You, ratman, I suggest* you put everything you have in this backpack!" Ruckus appears across the room, his face strangely smooth, his movements odd and sinuous, like a snake. He holds out his backpack invitingly. *Suggestion DC 20

It also provokes against Zeldones when it stands, but his whip won't get through its DR. Also, Zeldones stared at it just before he knocked it down, so it should be at -1 on Will saves, to hit, and to damage.

Ruckus returns to his more normal, and strange, self. "Where did that little bastard come from?" He asks no one as he moves to examine the ratman, then peek through the open wall panel.
Loot for the ratman? Also, where does the panel lead - a secret passage or just a concealed cubby?

15,400 GP
SLOT hands CL 5th WEIGHT —
AURA faint illusion and transmutation
These gloves constantly project a very short-range silence spell, so that anything touched or held by the wearer’s hands makes no sound. Thus picking a locked door wouldn’t make a clicking noise audible to those on the other side, and holding a hand over a victim’s mouth would silence his scream. The silence extends only a few inches, so knocking on a door produces no sound but hammering it down still does.
If the wearer presses a finger to her lips and speaks, no sound comes out, but the words are audible to anyone she chooses in her line of sight (as the message spell).
The panel leads to a secret passage that seems to extend throughout a good portion of the house.

EndlessForms |

The secret passage primarily leads to one room: a kitchen that once might have been used to prepare opulent dinners for memorable events but now features bare tables. Scraps of meat and cheese gives proof that a meal was eaten here recently but otherwise the kitchen seems unused. One of the long tables still smells like it was used for butchering and the multicolored stains darkening its chipped sruface make that even clearer.
You easily spot tracks in the dust.
Two smaller rooms are connected to the kitchen. The one to the north is a mostly empty pantry. The room to the south is an old cook's quarters that looks like it was being used by the wererat. The trunk in the room contains two potions of cure light wounds and a vial of wyvern poison.

Zeldones |

Zeldones studies the marks on the floor, stroking his goatee thoughtfully (and theatrically). "It would seem that the ratman came through here, and I perceive two other sets of booted tracks--someone heavy, and someone wearing softer shoes."

"You know, I think I could pass myself off as this ratman." Ruckus says as he picks up the creature's shortsword and concentrates a moment, taking on it's appearance. "Might be able to get the drop on other problems in this place."
Ruckus/Ratman then moves ahead to look in the next room.

A long wooden table with rich curves and thick, stylized legs stands in the center of this old dining room. Expensive chairs surround the table, but clearly have not seen use in some time. A thick layer of dust covers the table, making two round depressions in the dust seem out of place. Near the head of the table, a dark stain colors the dirty floor. A silver placard sitting in the middle of the table reads, “Here Adrius and Lestenna of the Tristeza line met their ends. Let words of infidelity ever remain unspoken. Let resentment seethe and death be the reward.”
DC 16 KN (religion) to recognize this as a haunt. If you beat a DC 10 Initiative, you can take a surprise round action before it manifests.

Tobian pauses a moment. You hear that? The sound of silverware clinking on plates? Tobian pauses yet again then says, I believe we have a haunt. My guess is that a mortal creature must honestly confess an act of infidelity, be it marital, romantic, or spiritual, in the room to destroy the haunt.
Tobian turns to his friends. So, who wishes to confess?

Listening to Tobian, Galtar lowers his head in shame, "Let me confess. I was jealous of my twin brother I always had been. He was stronger, better at getting people to accept him. A real lady's orc. Anyway, years ago we were dating these girls, sisters. Not twins like us, but sisters still. Of course Fargal got the better looking of the two. One night we were drinking, a lot. Epic drinking. I sent my brother off on a drunken errand and then convinced Elise that I was Fargal. We went off to my bed that night, neither of them the wiser." As Galtar finishes his story, he wipes his massive hand across his face hiding his tears.

![]() |

Heh. We've done that. Brought tears to my eyes too. Heh!
Ruckus/ratman gets a strange look on his face and mumbles something to himself. The truth was he had more than a handful of stories like it, and was about to confess himself but couldn't decide which one to tell.

EndlessForms |

Lol!
As Galtar finishes his confession, the clinking of the silverware stops and the room seems lighter and less menacing. You find nothing of value in the room though.

Temüjin Sartaq Linseed |

Temujin laughs slightly at the story. "What a weird place this is..."
The halfling moves to explore the remaining area: upstairs.

Did we give the haunt room a thorough searching through?
Upstairs, Ruckus/ratman waits for Tobian to give a cursory examination of the door, then ushers everyone to the side and opens it to look inside.
Still disguised, using detect magic before opening door.

EndlessForms |

Nothing in the haunt room. Just a funny haunt.
Antiques and other oddities fill this strange display room. A wide tapestry of green-and-gold silk, its design resembling a family tree of events and dates, covers one of the boarded walls. Small glass cases hold various curiosities, among them a rune-encrusted skull, an obsidian pyramid inlaid with gold filigree, and a bronze medallion.
A testament to the bizarre range of keepsakes here is the very large stuffed grizzly bear corpse in the southwest corner. The preserved bear clearly hails from somewhere far away, as it flaunts a stylized suit of armor along its spine from skull to tail.

Zeldones |

At least it's not a polar bear in armor.
Zeldones casts detect magic and looks for items that might repay further inspection.

Temüjin Sartaq Linseed |

Temujin is intrigued by the pyramid. He moves to pick up the obelisk to inspect it further.
