If it is possible, I would like to show them we are more experienced than them and more suited for this mission.
So they must let us search for the prophecy and deal with their Captain.
If needed, I could make a intimidate check with the story of how we killed the demon in less than one round :P
EndlessForms |
Embla interjects, "I don't know about. . . " and Graukur interrupts with a squawk, "What! What are we waiting for? More Grand Lodge scum!"
Sorry, they're out to take out anyone not allied with the Shadow Lodge. They're not going to let any non-Shadow Lodge people talk to their Captain. This was Season 2 after all.
embla: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Ceric is up!
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
Nice to see something other then demons for a chance..too bad they are trying to kill us again...
Ceric summons forth a large ball of churning water while using his rod and sends the ball gushing through the room
(casting aquas orb, using a charge of my lesser metamagic rod, dazing. I can move it 6 squares so summoning it on the table I should be able to move it over all 3 of them)
DC21 reflex save for all of them or take non lethal damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7 If any damage is taken dazed for 3 rounds and make another DC21 reflex save or get sucked into the ball (becoming entangled and gaining cover, having to make a new DC21 reflex save again each round to be tossed out to an adjacent square or take 2d6 damage again)moving along with it. I'll stop the ball so that it's NE to Devko
"Why can't we all just get along?"
EndlessForms |
Graukur Ref: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Rovald Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Embla Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Rovald Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Embla Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Ceric swirls his orb of water through the room; only the tengu is able to duck out of the way; Rovald and Embla are sucked into the orb!
Graukur draws a greatsword from his back as he moves up to Devko and swings!
+1 greatsword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
damage with sneak: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 + (3, 3, 6, 6, 6) = 35
plus 5 bleed

1. Ceric
2. Graukur
3. Ezrek
4. Rovald and Embla
5. Gregor and Devko
R: 7 nonlethal, dazed 3 rounds, in orb (entangled, cover)
E: 10 dmg, 7 nonlethal, dazed 3 rounds
Ezrek is up!

Embla Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10
So Rovald falls out of the orb but Embla is still inside. Either way, they are still dazed so Gregor, Devko, and Ceric can take their actions as well.
Devko Obradev |
Devko casted a spell on the defensive, bless by Asmodeus for not being cut in half by Graukur's attack.
Concentration DC19: 1d20 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 15 + 4 = 301d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Then six other Devko pop out and Devko moved out of his chair while drawing his weapon. Graukur have an AoO against Devko

Graukur pops one of Devko's images as the bard moves away.
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
After Ezrek has taking his turn (don't want to accidentally provide any enemy with cover)Ceric will cast Acid splash at Graukur
To hit touch Ac Graukur: 1d20 + 6 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 4 - 4 = 6 cover and into melee.
and then with a flick of his wrist Ceric sends the ball of churning water spinning around he room again.
Should be able to target any enemy not inside it at the moment (So Graukur and Rovald - since Embla took damage from being inside the orb, dazed reset to 3 rounds again, she also will start drowing..but that's most likely not relevant).
DC21 reflex save for all of them or take non lethal damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 If any damage is taken dazed for 3 rounds and make another DC21 reflex save or get sucked into the ball (becoming entangled and gaining cover, having to make a new DC21 reflex save again each round to be tossed out to an adjacent square or take 2d6 non lethal damage again)moving along with it. I'll stop the ball so that it's NE of Devko
Ezrek Filosten |
Ezrek lifts five feet into the air and tosses some bombs at Embla (unless I'm reading wrong. EF has Rovald in the orb, but Ceric said Embla is in the orb. Ez will target whichever is not in the orb.

Gregor Hawthorne |
Hanging back until Ezrek does his thing...
"Big mistake...." Gregor remarks as he steps forward five feet. Calling for his weapon to be a bane against the Tengu, he pummels Graukur with his morningstar.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25, Damage: 1d8 + 8 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 8 + (6, 2, 1, 3) = 23

EndlessForms |
I had it backwards on my tracker; Rovald fell out of the orb and Embla is still inside. Fixed now. I'll send your bombs against Rovald.
1d8 ⇒ 4 hits behind Rovald
Rovald Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 takes 6 splash
Embla Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 12 splash from the first one
Embla Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 12 splash from the second
Ezrek's first two bombs hit Rovald, the third one exploding part of the wall behind the man. The man immediately falls unconscious.
---
Embla is stuck in the orb and fails to get out (rolls above).
---
Gregor steps in and deals two nasty blows to the tengu.
Devko creates several images of himself and moves away from Graukur.
Ceric tries to lob acid at Graukur but misses. He then sends his ball of water rolling across the room again.
Graukur Ref: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
The tengu, however, leaps out of the way of the orb!
---
Seeing Rovald down and Embla helplessly trapped in a ball of water, Graukur drops his sword and holds his hands (wings?) up in surrender.
Out of combat? How do you guys react?
1. Ceric
2. Graukur
3. Ezrek
4. Embla
5. Gregor and Devko
R: 61 dmg, 7 nonlethal, unconscious
E: 10 dmg, 7 nonlethal, dazed 3 rounds, in orb (entangled, cover)

Ceric - Eric de Vries |
Ceric will ready to move the aquas orb over Graukur if he does anything funny.
"Devko,Gregor..can you please make sure these "nice" people are properly relieved of any dangerous items they have on them they could use to hurt us with at the moment."
EndlessForms |
The party ties up the complicit Shadow Lodge agents. Graukur tells you that they were not lying; they came here to recover a prophecy and their Captain is in the basement now. He is the only other one who came with them.
Ezrek Filosten |
"Shall we go meet this Venture-Captain?" Ezrek asks. Before heading down, Ezrek will drink his extract of flase life.
False Life: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
To just the party Ceric says: "What do we want to do with them? I am against leaving them untied to come after us, but if we leave them tied-up here...there are a lot of demons around...."
Ceric then nods at Ezrek. " Let's go down and see what's going on there"
Devko Obradev |
They are traitor to the Society. They will be judged by their peers, in Absalom.
Said Devko
Let's go see this "Captain" of them.
Devko casted see invisibility and freedom of movement on him before going downstair.
EndlessForms |
The safe house’s cellar has withstood the horrors of the Abyssal invasion better than the rest of the building, and so have the few remaining relics and adventuring supplies stored within it. Various crates, shelves, and barrels hold relatively well-preserved adventuring gear, weapons, scrolls, and books. Rows of stone shelves cut into the south wall stand strangely empty, however, though traces in the dust on the shelves indicate that a large number of bound volumes were recently removed.
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
Ceric will cast detect magic to make sure we are not missing something "interresting" among all those weapons and scrolls.

Ceric - Eric de Vries |
"Does anyone of you have any idea what's going in with the footprints? I think there must be a secret door or something in here..but I can't find it"
"Alathra Binzet? Hrm...might ring a bell"
Knowledge local or history: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
EndlessForms |
Ceric doesn't recall anything particular about the name.
Several of you notice the secret door where the footprints lead off; heading through?
Ezrek Filosten |
Ezrek nods to the secret door and the pressure plate. "Everyone ready? Oh, by the way, I have a rod that extends spells. I tried to use it with my extracts, but it failed to work. If any would like to use it, your welcome to it."
EndlessForms |
Following through the secret door leads you through a 5-foot-wide tunnel of packed earth that runs for nearly a mile at a slight incline in a northwestern direction. (So Devko's images have faded by this point)
The tunnel gets gradually wider until it stretches almost 15 feet across, and finally emerges onto a blasted plain of dust and gravel through a nondescript 10-foot-wide hole in the ground far from sight or earshot of Storasta. The landscape here is beyond desolate—former farmland blasted into oblivion by the horrors of the Abyss. Nothing grows here now, and the area is a flat wasteland that stretches to the horizon. Now the thirsty ground is cracked, with molten rivulets flowing deep beneath the surface and casting a haunting glow upon the terrain. A persistent chittering rises and falls from no particular direction.
A young man runs ahead of you, followed by three babau demons; the group turns to face off with you when they notice your pursuit.

Then he make a 5ft. step toward the demons.
Ceric - Eric de Vries |

Ceric will cast haste on all party members

EndlessForms |
He looked like he was fleeing you with the demons protecting him, but they turned to face you when they saw you catching up.
Devko creates several images of himself while Ceric hastes the party. Gregor prepares himself for the battle ahead.
Ceric remembers that these are babau demons; they have DR/cold iron or good, are immune to electricity and poison, and have resistances to acid, cold, fire, and spells. Like most demons, they can greater teleport at will. They have sneak attack and a protective slime (that probably can't break the hardness of your weapons at this point). They are currently wielding longspears.

Two of the demons teleport to either side of the party. The other then moves up and stabs at Gregor!

Caggrigar casts a spell and calls forth a streak of electricity to hit Ceric. The electricity then arcs out from Ceric to hit the rest of the party.
DC 23 Ref for half from Ceric; DC 21 Ref for half from everyone else.

CASTING
Casting Time 1 immediate action
Components V
EFFECT
Range 5 ft.
Effect 5-ft.-radius hemisphere of force centered on you
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw None; Spell Resistance no
DESCRIPTION
As wall of force, except you create a hemispherical dome of force with hardness 20 and a number of hit points equal to 10 per caster level. The bottom edge of the dome forms a relatively watertight space if you are standing on a reasonably flat surface. The dome shape means that falling debris (such as rocks from a collapsing ceiling) tend to tumble to the side and pile up around the base of the dome. If you make a DC 20 Craft (stonemasonry), Knowledge (engineering), or Profession (architect or engineer) check, the debris is stable enough that it retains its dome-like configuration when the spell ends, otherwise it collapses.
Normally this spell is used to buy time for dealing with avalanches, floods, and rock-slides, though it is also handy in dealing with ambushes.
As I understand it, I've just put up a wall of force around myself and Ezrek before it could hit us (can't get the others in there). It will damage the wall (80-47 hps=33 hps left for the wall, not sure if hardness works against lightning damage, if it does it will have 20 hps more. I think it will still arc through to Devko and Gregor
Ceric - Eric de Vries |
Ceric looks at Ezrek
"I'm fine inside here..but it seems a bit unfair to let Devko and Gregor do all the fighting on their own. Give the word and I'll get us out of this so we can join them"
Readying Dimensional steps to move myself and Ezrek 40ft to the west so that we'll be 20 ft away from Caggigar and Ezrek can unload his bombs on something that doesn't seem to be a demon.

Awesome Ceric. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to get out of the sphere until you posted about DS.
Ezrek nods to Ceric. "When your ready, I'm ready. If at all possible, could you have us end up being five feet in the air?"
Once Ceric shift the two, Ezrek begins bombarding the man, Caggigar.
