Maximo dashes up the stairs and through the door after Darius, tipping the brim of his helm in passing. "Thank you, my friend."
Arriving like a performer entering a scene, he points at the Jester and declares in a strong voice heard by all in the theater... er, or citadel rather.
"Jester, your foolish tricks end here! Come my companions, let us show this villain our bravery and courage!"
60 foot move with haste (can't access map, but get as close as possible to the Jester), swift action for smite evil (is he?), begin bardic performance for courage. Everyone gets +1 to hit and damage, +1 to saves vs fear.

DM, can Alie get a line of sight on any of the enemies from her current position, or from taking a single move action? If so she's throwing a fireball! DC Reflex 20 for half. If not, Alie will double move and try to close range.

I'll full attack the silent club-man, but all of it is non-lethal.
I don't know, maybe a heal check to see if there is a reason he is silent. I have the feeling he is important somehow, just can't figure out why? Just seems odd to me.
Heal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Nonlethal: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
If any of those cause him to fall, I'll stop there.

Darius makes his way up and opens the door to reveal the motley-clad Jester singing his baudy song while Max moves in and begins his own inspiring speech. Yes, your smite evil will work against him.
@Alie: yes, I 5' stepped you over to see up the hole to have LOS with the upper floor. Should be able to hit everyone up there and you go before Max and Darius so they aren't in the blast.

Thanks for being patient and sorry for the unannounced and unexpected absence! We were supposed to have internet in the new house last week but getting service ended up being more of a challenge than we anticipated and we only just got it straightened out this afternoon. But I'm back now!

Wreck easily slices a gaping wound in Sabas' side but finds that the funny man continues to sing his rude songs despite the blood flowing down his thigh.
The Jester backs away from the hulking half-orc and mixes a spell into his song!

Rosham shakes his head, clearly pained by the so-called music from the hurdy gurdy.
He activates his spellguard bracers (2/3 uses) to cast fly defensively (Concentration DC 18: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16 or Concentration DC 18: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32), then flys up to the second floor.
He raises his voice. ENOUGH! This folly (and your awful music) ends HERE and NOW!

Wreck summons up his ferocious nature and leaps across the hole in the floor to join the archers. Max lends his voice to the cause and the archers move their hands away from their quivers, signalling that they would rather live. The man with the club struggles for a bit more but is no match for the party on his own.
Out of combat!
The top floor of the citadel seems to have been used as the Jester's bedchambers. An urn sits on the floor in the corner.

"Is everyone okay up there? I can't really see anything," Alie calls out to the group. She begins making her way up the stairs to the others, using her Haste spell to grant her additional movement to do so.

"All is well up here, Dame Alie! The Jester is sleeping, and I'm fairly certain Wreck just defied gravity."
Maximo spends a moment to stabilize the Jester, using his divine healing touch if needed, though he is quite ready to punch out the man if he wakes and attempts to cause more trouble.

![]() |

What a dump, Rosham says, casting unseen servant and directing it to clean the room.
As the spell takes effect, he pulls out his wand of infernal healing and uses it on himself as he calls out to Alie. The good Baron has the right of it, my dear Alie. Our quarry is taking a little nap, and the, ah, half-orc has demonstrated all the makings of a circus performer, should he be so inclined.
Looking at the servant between wand charges, he continues. Do use a kerchief when you get up here, though. The servants haven't kept it up well at all.
Four charges from the wand. Anyone else hurt?

"I'm thinking we take you back in to stand trial. Way I understand it, you have made a lot of enemies, and that's probably the most healthy path for you after everything you have done."
Sabas stays quiet but seems resolved to his fate.

Not before I Detect Magic/Evil/Plot Device. :P
Ill place it in a sack, unless someone else wants to do something.

![]() |

"I think the Jester might be forgetting a detail or two. Wreck, why don't you jog his memory?"
Rosham grins broadly and nods in agreement. Nothing like a little persuasion to bring something that has, shall we say, slipped one's mind, back to the fore.

![]() |

I think it might have been that Perception check earlier we all missed.

![]() |

"You had better tell us everything or Wreck might punch you in the face. Just cooperate so we can get out of here!"

EndlessForms |

Hmmm. I can't seem to find exactly what the alabaster urn does. Not a normal cursed item or anything, it's specific to this scenario. But it never gives a normal item statblock for it or clearly defines what it does. This is the most it gives:
...the alabaster urn of Kalates the Accursed. A trophy of Qadira’s Grand Campaign, this sinister vessel holds the power to devastate entire towns.
So I'm guessing it's very evil and very powerful. But for the sake of moving on, I'm guessing it's ok to pick up and toss in a bag if Sabas was able to carry it around without ill effect.
---
Sabas holds up his hands, "Hey now! Let's just calm down here, jumpies! No need to sic the half-orc on me! I've told you! If I knew where it was don't you think I'd have gone back and gotten it? One of my lost it as we ran from the slug and we weren't going back that way after that."

EndlessForms |

The slug was an optional encounter we skipped over and I'm not going to make you go back and fight it after you've taken out the BBEG. But you can go back to the Perception check you missed earlier and look around a little more closely in that area.
Also: Pssstt. What's up with the guy with the club?

![]() |

"Yuck! I can't imagine anything less inviting than getting slug all over me!"
Oh, I can, Rosham says casually. Any speech from that blowhard Andoran Colson Maldris, for instance. A single moment spent in Qadira, as well. Also, spending any more time than necessary talking with this fool. It's tempting to just let the uncouth green one go to town on him just to get him to be quiet.
The Taldan pauses, considering the man with the club. Turning back to Sabas, he asks, What's the story with that one? I presume you mind controlled him.
