Ash takes out the goblin shaman!
Out of combat!
Heading off for the rest of the night; I'll update more tomorrow morning.
Ash - Eric de Vries |
Ash takes a look at the cave in to see if we can get back to the rest of people traveling with us.
If they seem to be alright he will help with looking through the goblin corpses, for clues on why they attacked us (and loot).
Farg |
Anyone hungry? Farg inquires, seeing that there are no takers he adds Actually tastes better than it looks... as he flicks the dead bodies of his spear and looks into their possessions.
Sutekh Amun |
while underground perc increases by +2 and I get to check for traps and dangerous flora, formations if I get within 10ft of them

The potion has a symbol etched onto the glass of a human male on his knees holding his arms up to the sun
After you defeat the goblins, the Duskwardens clear the rubble from the collapses and help you rejoin the rest of the travelers on the Halflight
Path.
One of the Duskwardens kicks at the goblin bodies, flips a few of them over, and then grunts. “Haven’t seen these here in a long time,” he says, then turns to you and apologizes. “Our duty is to keep our charges safe—we failed. We’ll have to shut down the Path for a while we plug these holes again and figure out where these goblins came from.”
Sutekh and Ash think that the goblins who collapsed the first wall were likely camping behind that wall the previous night and that they'd been working at bringing the masonry down for a while. The goblins who came through the ceiling collapse got up there by digging a tunnel up out of the cavern where you fought.
After the fight, the Duskwardens gather the body of the one merchant who died in the ambush and continue to guide you and the other travelers up to the top of the Halflight Path.
Four hours after the fight, you reach a bunker-like complex just outside the entrance to Kaer Maga. The city is enormous. In all directions, you can see that every inch of it is covered in buildings: cliff side buildings, buildings built on the atop thin balconies around the interior of the walls themselves, and buildings crammed together on the floor of the ancient ruin. Except for the lake at the center of the city (even then, only at midday), the entire city is drowned in permanent twilight.
Knowledge (local) checks to find Collgardie's house

Ennoia |
The Aasimar is flabbergasted by the immensity of the buildings around her. Making obvious efforts to appear strong, she follows her newfound companions meekly. As she walks among the weird city's population, she realizes that many people around her, despite their monstrosity or bizarre behavior, are familiar to her.
This is strange. I've never been here and yet this feels like home.
EndlessForms |
You can't aid on knowledge checks unfortunately.
Sutekh asks around and thinks he has a pretty good idea where Collgardie's house would be. As you walk through the immense city you notice a young woman in a dress buying groceries followed by two zombie servants carrying baskets for her. Further on you spot a goblin juggling hedgehogs for coins, so far failing to earn any money despite bleeding hands.
Horis Collgardie’s house is small but in good repair; judging by the decrepit state of the other homes in the neighborhood, this merchant friend of Drandle Dreng must be relatively well off. His home is made of a hodgepodge of brick and stone matching the city’s walls. Several windows look out onto the thin balcony walkway some 60 feet above the city streets that serves as the access for this neighborhood, but all are heavily barred with the shades pulled. The house appears dark and quiet.
Sutekh Amun |
Sutekh will give the poor juggler a few silver. Before heading on. The poor thing was atleast trying. Unlike some of his species. The zombies did get an odd look from him, but that was that

Ash - Eric de Vries |
Ash is amazed by the various sights in this place, especially the goblin judging hedgehogs..and the only reason he moves from wonder to wonder is that there is indeed...another amazing thing to watch further down the road, again and again.
Vesparo Dikanadra |
Vesparo follows along beaming, "Where on earth did he find hedgehogs up here? Can you buy hedgehogs? We should all get hedgehogs! After the mission? Hmmm, maybe not, awww."
When they reach Collgardie's house Vesparo strolls up to the door and raps upon it, "Master Collgardie? Might we trouble you for a word?" Turning to his companions with a shrug he adds, "Worth a try."
Sutekh Amun |
Sutekh shakes his head. If this guy gets an arrow to the chest, he better have potions on him. And he better hope one of the group can get to him in time
"Maybe, maybe not. I just hope we didnt just cause a situation we might regret later"

Farg |
Not that it matters with the roll above but I'm not familiar with that rule and also couldn't find any reference on the srd
Farg follows Sutekh in inspecting the house and looks around for obvious entrances or other traps.
Perception1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Vesparo Dikanadra |
I don't think such a rule exists explicitly, but there is some text to the effect that GMs can decide what skills it is appropriate to be able to use aid another on. I personally think knowledges make perfect sense aiding on - was just watching a gameshow and kinda knew the answer and my friend recalled the show the actor was on then I recalled his name, etc. Perception is commonly called out as none viable to, but again I think it makes sense in circumstances where you are not threatened and have time to communicate.
Essam Galonica |
Still disappointed from his lack of any actual fighting during the last encounter, Essam talks little about what happened hoping that next time he will be able to prove himself. Although he is not sure who is is trying to prove himself to, the party or himself.
"Disgusting, using zombies as servants. A proper burial, and laying their soul to rest would be a better choice."
Essam takes a look around with the others
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Ennoia |
As the whole party gets an interest in the house, Ennoia finds her way to the closest neighbour that seems to be around.
"Excuse me, good people, we're looking for Collgardie. Have you seen him recently? His house appears to be deserted. Could you help us, please?"

"Ash ponders...actually that's not true, we could also leave. But we just got here..and with a reason, at least I think we had a reason..so let's not leave. Let's go in!."
Ash tries to open the front door and go in.

Careful there mister Gnome. Why don't you let an expert handle this? Farg halts the Gnome as he whips out some tools for just the purpose of entering in places you shouldn't be.

Boys,
Someone killed my friend Horis Collgardie. They left his body to rot inside his own house. Go there and wait. Don’t touch anything. If anyone comes back looking to toss the place or take the body and that person’s not an Ardoc, it’s most likely his killer. Kill anyone who shows up there that isn’t a member of my family—I mean anyone. You’ll be paid well.
