Down!
GMEDWIN |
You all get on the platform and due to the general indecision amongst you, golem pushes you upwards. After about 15 minutes you reach the next level, where you see a fifty-foot corridor extending beyond the archway.
A row of eleven large windows lines the wall on the left-hand side. A cool desert breeze flushes across the chamber.
Ijen Harper |
Magical pictures... interesting. Ijen studies the images a little longer. Looking at the magical effect itself, and the manners and dress of the people portrayed.
She will cast detect magic as well.
She is looking at the magical effect that is creating the images, and then trying to identify the time period and place by the clothing.

Arduino runs further along and checks out another window.
Arduino the Lesser |
Really that high a check to figure that out?
Arduino looks between the two pictures in wonderment. "Amazing..."
Ijen Harper |
I don't recognize it either, a lost city? That might be something to hunt down later...
She starts studying the images again, but now she's trying to take note of any landmarks, significant buildings, identifiable characteristics.
Cooper! Take a look at this. You recognize it?
Alistair Cooper |
Cooper was busy looking for any dangers that may be more deadly than a window when Ijen calls.
sure thing, I guess. Cooper heads over to see what she wants to show him and being careful to not get pushed out the window.

You follow the passage for 65 feet and turn right and then after 10 feet there is an opening to you right again and you see a magnificent chamber that is tiled throughout with a brilliant, rainbow-hued mosaic. A floating
sarcophagus, which appears to be composed of an indigo light, slowly rotates in the air in the back half of the room.
Alistair Cooper |
Cooper stares at the scene for a while. taking in the whole thing trying to find differences in what he has learned and what he sees.
this is the the slave-city of Tumen, once capital of Osirion and home to the Four Pharaohs of Ascension. Tumen was swallowed up by the desert within a century of the passing of the Four Pharaohs of Ascension.
Once they proceed further to the sarcophagus room, Cooper stops everyone before they enter. might be trapped we need to check.

Presuming Cooper tells us so...
Arduino moves forward ahead and enters the chamber.
GMEDWIN |
As soon as the you begin to congregate inside the room, the lid on the sarcophagus disintegrates from top to bottom. Its occupant then slowly rises. As she stands to greet you she removes her translucent burial shroud, revealing a woman of striking beauty.

Arduino gives his best dazzling smile and walks forward to take the lady's hand. "Arduino, the Lesser, charmed."

The beautiful mummy looks at Arduino and the rest of the party and says
Ancient Osirion
Ijen Harper |
She's speaking an old version of Osirian. She wants to know why we are here and that we need to pass a test, strength and cunning. Oh, and she says she is Ankana, a Radiant Pharoah.
Ijen stands up straight and bows her head to the mummy, looking sideways to Cooper, I'm not sure she understands you. Ijen repeats Cooper's introduction in Ancient Osirian.

hey all sorry about not posting last night got tired
Cooper looks to Ijen and smiles
you always seem to find new ways to peak my interest don't you.
Cooper responds in Ancient Osirian
we accept the tests
looking back to Ijen
lets get on with them after all
Arduino the Lesser |
Arduino gives another charming smile. "As you have clearly passed the tests of beauty and intelligence, my lady, it would not be for us to falter in a test of bravery and cunning. We accept."
GMEDWIN |
The mummy looks at Arduino, not understanding any word he says, shakes her head and then continues in Ancient Osiron
The large cat-headed clay statue makes its way into the room. Ankana then walks behind to the wall behind her and presses a button. She then talks to the clay creature:
Ancient Osirion
The large clay golem goes into one of the many alcoves and picks up a small weight of 50 pounds and stacks it neatly on the floor. As it does this the your floor rises about half a foot.
She then sits on a throne in the next room depressing a lever causing a stone slab to shut over the entrance.
So how does this challenge work. The strongest member of the party will be having a physical challenge with the Panthereon. The others can assist by passing a DC 10 strength check to give him or her a +2 bonus or you can be creative in trying to assist. Just ask me a question and I will make up a mechanic for you to allow it to work.
Arduino the Lesser |
Can be be offensive? Cast Obscuring Mist to block Panthereon's vision, cast Create Pit to throw his weights off balance?
GMEDWIN |
You wouldn't know this in character but there is a wall of force in place, which prevents spells from passing through. You could buff or try to destroy the wall of force first. Which of course would provoke combat by "cheating" or you could destroy the stone slab and go back the way you came
Alistair Cooper |
cooper was talking to Ijen not the mummy when he was flirting guess I didn't make that clear...
GMEDWIN |
I assume you will take up the physical challenge, if not you can do something else, the wall of force you wouldn't know about unless you tried a spell or detect magiced it, I guess Torsk will be your champion
so round 1 No initiative necessary. To assist Tork by adding extra weight DC10 strength check to add a +2 to him
The panthereon lifts a large boulder from the alcove
Strength 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Arduino the Lesser |
Arduino concentrates, pressing his hands together and muttering a few syllables. Drawing them apart suddenly, Torsk suddenly expands in size.
Hit Torsk with Enlarge Person.
Torsk |
dice don't fail me know lol
strength check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 +2 for anyone able to aid, EP already factored in to roll
Demoralize as a standard action before lifting stone? 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 vs DC 23
Alistair Cooper |
Cooper moves to help Torsk
let me give you a hand there He says with a wink toward Ijen.
str check DC 10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Arduino the Lesser |
Torsk's strength bolstered, Arduino taps his hood and swiftly his appearance changes to that of the Osiron woman. Imitating her tones, her barks "Panthereon! Topple the stones!"
Hat of Disguise
Bluff: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
Ijen Harper |
Ijen will walk close enough to figure out there is a force wall. Any indications in the room (pictures on the wall, lines on the floor, etc?
If I understand this correctly, the room is divided in two by a force wall. Each room has an alcove full of rocks.
The room is changing elevation based on the number of rocks stacked on the other side of the force wall.
As the floor goes up, is it getting harder to get the rocks out of the alcove? (one side has the rocks too low, the other side too high)
How high is the ceiling? How high is the roof of the alcove?
Anything else in the alcoves or the room?
Alistair Cooper |
oops
Cooper just continues to help Torsk move the rocks to meet the challenge.
str check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
if Archaeologist's Luck can be used then burn 1 round for another +1
GMEDWIN |
Now you can tell definitely that it isn't just separated by a forcewall. There are alcoves on either side and a varrying elevations. Ceiling was 30 feet up. but now no
The Panthereon continues to stack in spite of Arduino's order and The pharoah gasps a little and then scratches her nose. The ceiling is only 22 feet away.
Round 3
The Panthereon strength 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
The Pharoah looks at Adruino and laughs
Ancient Osirion
Arduino the Lesser |
Arduino gives a small smile and bows, dismissing the illusion.
Ijen Harper |
Ijen heads for one of the alcoves that's still several feet up. If it also has rocks, she'll climb up into the alcove and see about shoving the rocks off the ledge.
If possible, she'll brace herself against the back wall of the alcove or another rock to push one off the edge.
STR: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Someone want to pull? Or play with pictures?
