Approaching the archers, Angelo asks, "Has anyone got a lantern? Or perhaps just some lantern oil?"

Oh - and Angelo will also give a look-over to ensure there is no emerging ambush of the archers.

In the absence of anything more practical, Corvus will now start to hack at the totem

Corvus sees the Druid drop to the floor and now turns her attention fully on the totem. In a trance like state, she swings and whirls her blade, looking to deal the maximum damage to the totem.

HP 31 of 31 - AC 19. - Init +3 - Fort +6 - Reflex +4 - Will +4 - BAB +4

Corvus stops attacking the totem, her moves slowing gracefully until she comes to a complete stop.

Turnings Faruq, she says, " Nothing magical. I tend to focus on living things not lumps of wood." With that she shrugs and looks around for flammable items.

"My bright Raven - can you work with me some little while? And perhaps some of you archers? I have an idea..."

Gathering together approximately 1/2 dozen volunteers, Angelo assembles a work detail to assemble a funeral pyre immediately at the mouth of the cave. He dispatches one of the archers to retrieve a saw from the ship (every ship has a saw). Having assembled a pyre, Angelo will assemble the funeral detail into a funeral cortege, and set off intot he cave to retrieve the totem.

"Corvus, I'll dedicate the pyre to Pharasma, if you'll provide flames dedicated to Saraenrae, I think we may just put stop to this diabolic activity."

Angelo reidrects Yoshi to Corvus, "The young lady should start a fire for this purpose."

Angelo hefts the axe one of the sailors returned from the ship, gathering some of the sailors along with him, "We've got one last stick to gather for the fire."

Angelo enters the cavern, and moves toward the back of the cave. Motioning the men to wait about 30 feet away, Angelo tries to see if the totem can be moved, or if it needs to be chopped down. If the answer is chopped down - well, that's why Angelo brought a chopping-axe.

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Chivane looks at Angelo and says Do not touch that totem... Just set it on fire and then we can begone.

The amount of firewood brought in from the outside looks like enough to keep a fire going for a solid hour.

"Well then, I guess it's a bonfire, rather than a pyre. I can't say that m'Lady Pharasma will be most pleased with that answer, but she is patient. All come to her eventually."

And so with that, the mountain (of wood) comes to Mohammed (the totem). Angelo still encourages Corvus to dedicate the fire to the Dawnflower.

Once the bonfire has gotten a significant start, and in no danger of failing (short of a major explosion...), then everyone exits the cave all together.

Having left the cave, Angelo takes a moment to bless and seal the threshold. 'This doesn't have the force of divine magic behind it. However the ritual and seals may attract the fickle attention of Lady Pharasma.'

As you leave the cave, plumes of purple smoke shoot out and you hear a monstrous noise as a green lightning bolt slams into the mountain above the cave causing a cave in and a mild tremor.

Corvus lights the fire at the foot of the totem and in a clear and soft tone says, "Let this fire be a physical manifestation of the goddess of the sun, redemption, honesty and healing.  You are the Healing Flame, and the Everlight. You teach us  temperance and patience in all things but there are those who have no interest in redemption and these deserve nothing but swift justice.  Please be our guiding light into the darkest hearts and lands."

"And then the mountain falls in on the lair of the beasts. And us with no loot to show for it. Dai! that job he's proposed better be a good one."
